There have been plenty of people on here slagging Lloyd off viciously when things weren't going so well (you know who you are), but I haven't heard much praise of him recently despite the fact that he has been pretty much excellent in the last three games.

It was obvious to me when he first came here that the problem he had was confidence. He would always get into good positions and then bottle the finish, especially one on one. After a couple of months we saw a new Lloyd who was one of the best strikers in Div 3, and was scoring regularly.

Now he's had to come back to form after injury, he's been going through that process again, and IMO he is just getting back to his best form, but now with extra pace and control. Against Bournemouth he was a menace to their defence and last night he put away a one on one and also scored an excellent headed goal. He was also doing what I have been thinking he should be doing all along: closing the goalie down on back-passes. Remember when he scored one that way against Scunthorpe or someone and nearly did it against Spurs? That comes from overcoming his fear of missing if he should get the knock-down.

I think we should all appreciate how tough it is on strikers to achieve confidence and regain form, and give Owusu the credit he deserves when it starts to come together. He has been my man of the match in all the last three games, if only because he deserves credit for sticking with it and coming through!

P.S. I truly hope I can post a similar message about Mark MacCammon in a few months!

Well I admit to being one of those who has not always considered him to be one of our greatest ever strikers: mostly because of his often woeful chances to goals conversion rate.

Having said that he has played much more consistently in the last few games and he took his chances brilliantly last night.

If he can keep this up for the rest of the season, we'll be champions by Easter!!

I agree if Lloyd had one bad game everyone would be down on him like a ton of bricks, But I'm almost certain if it was Evo or someone who would normally have a good game they would probably say to himself ah he could have played better but well done

I think hes doing well at the moment because we're making lots of chances - how many of his recent goals have been 2 yard headers?
Admittedly I didn't see the first goal last night but hes missed every one on one i can remember - bournmouth, brighton (newcastle was the same, except he was lucky enough for it to rebound of the keeper)

The difference with Evo or Gav is that in a team thats playing badly they play well. Owusu looked useless all of last season, yet now that the team as a whole is playing well, he looks like a better player. Hes still a weakness that IMO we need to replace when (

) we get promoted.

Can't see why people still knock him, thought he looked a class act last night. Both goals were high quality, he is linking better with Burgess/ midfield and his work rate was high all night. What more do you want from a striker?

His goals came at key times for us and won the match, his second goal was all timing, power and hunger...a real beauty.

Could he cut it in the first? how does anyone know that about any of our players? we'll maybe find out when we get there!

top of the league, lloyd has 7 goals in 14 games this season, bbb has 5 in as many.
LLoyd got loads of abuse on tuesday from e block whereas bbb gets none although he has been poor the last 2-3 times I have seen him.

I've always been a critic of Lloyd's, but even I will hold my hands up and say well done.
I've still got a better first touch than him though!!

Too bloody right, it's his job to score those simple tap ins! You can't expect spectacular goals all the time!

Agreed, he has seemed poor in the last couple of games, like hes struggling for fitness or something

My problem with Lloyd has been his lack of effort in a number of games. There is absolutely no excuse for that; limited ability is acceptable at this level, laziness is not. He demonstrated on Tuesday what can happen when he does put in the effort. He chased that Hunt cross while the defenders stood around watching and scored an excellent goal and his all round effort was tremendous.

I disagree, I don't think he is lazy I just think his reading of the game is very poor so he always looks like he is in the wrong place. His finishing over 2-3 years has been very good and the 1 on 1 misses have only been this season.
I would like to see him make runs off the ball and let the midfield find him, it is their job afterall, rather than see where the ball goes and then give chase.

Lloyd could easily bag another 20 goals this season and the whole of the second division would gladly take him of our hands.

He is one of the players that everybody knows of, whether a premier or non league supporter they all think of him as a danger man because he scores goals. I bet not one of you knows a football fan who has yet to watch the bees who hasn't heard of him him or who doesn't think he is an excellent striker by reputation.

Lets look at the three seasons he has been here. Champions of Div 3 Lloyd got 20 + goals. Last season he was injured for most games and then came back to a side not playing well, I think he got 8 goals. Now he has 7 from 14 in a team playing well. Suggests if he gets the service he will score. Yes he may miss a few but Andy Cole is a classic case. Lloyd is working so hard at the moment and of the goals he has not score I bet there is quite a few he has set up.

Lets back him up and hope he scores against Readscum.

At last! Rudolph thought he was out on his own about Lloyd. Nice man whose workrate has improved of late and as Rudolph predicted last year, just needed a big man (like Ben Buress) to work well off. He loves a one on one and as for his strike rate. If Nicky Forster had a left foot he'd have improved his strike rate too and everyone loved him. Rudolph included.
