The Bees currently already have SEVEN players on loan at Griffin Park - two more than the maximum number allowed in a matchday squad. It will reach eight if we have to bring in another goalie.

I don't understand the logic from our point of view, the lending club's angle or the player's perspective either.

Surely players go out on loan to, er, um, er..... play!

Where the loan market is perfect is when smaller clubs suffer key injuries and bring someone in to fill the void - like if our own 'keeper Lee is out injured for more than a game or two and it is deemed essential to recruit a replacement in the short to medium term.

If we had not signed the recent loanees then in my humble estimation we would be 6-8 points worse off.

Tudor Jones and Bignall were signed by the previous manager. They are both excellent pros and accept the current team selection.

What was your alternative? Not sign anyone and have limited options on the bench?

Loans

Bignall, Tudur-Jones and Simpson weren't Forster's signings and he might not rate one, two or all of them.

Schlupp, Byrne and Reed are all youngsters reccomended by Warburton. We want to play a passing game with pace and our current crop needed a bit of fresh blood injected into them. Reed has been excellent, Schlupp looks promising and Byrne.. I don't rate him personally but he's a bit of a raw version of Weston on the right side and can be effective, especially from the bench. I suspect we're looking at them with a view to season long loans next year, particuarly in Reed's case.

Neilson is the right back we've been looking for for years. We needed better and he's fit the bill perfectly. He's avaliable for a permanent transfer in the summer too and again, I'm sure that's something we'll be looking at.

You also have to take into account that we're suffering a lot of injuries at this point in the season. We were down the the last 18 on Saturday and that included 5 loanees I think. In my opinion, it is a lot of loans but it's important to experiment now (as our season is all but over) than at the start of next season. We need to hit the ground running next year but I'd hope we only have one season long loan (Reed), two max.

Stop complaining, for ****s sake.

have you seen how many are injured? If we had 52+ points then maybe we could risk some kids too, but lets be safe first. 7 Loanees including Simpson who is injured and possibly out for a while makes it 6 and is Nielson here longer or was that his last game saturday?. Our only back up keeper now is Royce who isn't good enough, we have also lost some from the wage bill in January so our budget probably hasn't been affected by much at all and some of these younger loanees will cost very little as gaining experience is their price

Aren't two others also due to go back about now (Reed & Byrne) which all three (inc Neilsen) are recalled we have four loanees.

Could it also be the case that NF & MW could have a look at the loanees in training with regards to temperament, work ethic etc with a view to next year?

Of current 7, Simpson is out injured and T-J is out of favour. If we need to borrow a keeper, for me Byrne would be the one to stand down from the remaining 5 - though Schlupp misses the next 2 anyway.

Once we're up to 53 points and have been to Wembley, then I'd focus on those (loanees and under contract) who might be with us next season

Given that you can't sign anyone on a permanent basis due to the tranfer window, the only way Nicky could possibly change things is by signing loanees (or players without a club - probably why he looked at that Irish bloke for a couple of weeks)

As we have quite a few injuries etc I would imagine that Forster is loathe to return the likes of Bignall and OTJ simply because they are physical bodies in the squad- it might also be possible (and I dont know how these things work) that we have agreed to pay for them anyway so there is no point in returning them as there is no financial benefit and who knows, we might just need them to play

Why not just let the manager get on with managing and making sure we are safe. Seems to be working quite well so far.

It's just the way it is.

OTJ and Bignall are both Scott signings and we have comitted to keep them (and therefore pay some or all of their salary) until the end of the season.

The loanees that the new management have brought in have in my opinion been very effective including your Byrne who whilst not solid enough is frightening the opposition with pace and skill.

Bignell has had little cahnce bar the game against Daggers when he was the only one who seemed to want to try, Simpson has never recovere his early season form and seems injury prone and OJt I really cannot see what he offers.

Ideally we would have no loan players however NF is setting the team out in a style that he wants to play and quite frankly all the players he has brought in fit that style of play and are an improvement on those already here. Whether we can get them on season long loans next term or even on our books remain to be seen but I certainly would not be complaining about the number of loanees we currently have as without them I fear we would be struggling big time.

Loans

I like the idea of loan players coming in, as they are usually associated with clubs playing at a higher level and offer the promise of bringing some class to the proceedings. They usually give maximum effort but I think often fail to live up to the initial excitement. Of course, there have been exceptions to this - but, Chesney excepted, they don't appear to change seasons.

I would say that my major issue is the difference in performance level once a loan player becomes permanent. I can think of a few occasions where I have been massively disappointed at the change in a newly signed player. This leads me to suppose that during a loan period a player has got every incentive to impress and give all he can. Something seems to change when a contract's in the back pocket.

So, if this is the case, it would seem to follow that the more loanees the merrier. But, of course, that doesn't work either as they 'are not used to each other's style of play' or 'don't fully know what's expected of them'.

Who'd be a manager? Or on the board!? It's much easier to pay your money and complain when it doesnt quite go right.

Loans

I don't think you can generalise about loan players. Some loans are because they are deemed surplus to requirement at their clubs and are given a chance to be put in the shop window; some are players returning from long-term injury who need a test and to get fit; others are young players coming through whom their club want to expose to the physicality and hurly-burly of league football to toughen them up... witness one Wojciech Szczesny.

If we develop a reputation for looking after players, then loans must be easier to come by. It does seem to be true that some are very motivated while on loan but we sign them up and then see the real thing.

So we haven't got Schulpp for Wembley then....why does he miss the next two ?

The thing that amazes me is that he never seems to read or digest the responses. Is it some sort of elaborate joke?

he most likley forgets he post them... you dead right though once he starts a thread he must go to bed for the rest of the day.

We have him for Wembley, but he misses Carlisle on Friday and away to Sheffield next Tues (because of international call-up). Can't see him starting at Wembley after being unavailable for the next 2 (barring further injury crisis), but should be on the bench, and could be very useful against a tiring side

With Reed, Neilson and Byrne's loans extended another month, what happens at the end of that period? Are we able to extend the deals further after the loan deadline or do we have to play out the remaining matches without them? Same applies to Schlupp.

They can all be further extended.

I think Carson, Reed and Neilson will feature in most games (whether Carson starts or not, he'll be in the 16). I think T-J won't appear, barring a freak pattern of injuries among other loanees. Simpson is injured at the moment (and I'd be inclined to leave him out, even if fit, as his form in the last 3-4 months has been very poor). So it's 2 out of the other 3 to feature. I'd like to see more of Schlupp when he's back from int'l duty, and would be inclined to pick Bignall ahead of Byrne for most games, but that may depend who else is unavailable. One factor may be whether NF is considering any of them for next season; if so, they would be more likely to play

Carson, Neilson (if fit), Reed, Schlupp and Byrne to get the nod
