Local Teams

Just out of interest...

How many of you support a local team as well as Brentford? I.E Conference / Conference South etc.

I do all the home games with my season ticket and many aways but sometimes too busy to do the aways and dedicate my whole weekend to an away 400 miles up north.

As much as I wish I could/did.

Thinking about supporting a local team on the side and not sure who to pick.

Born in Hillingdon but spent most of my life living in Iver.

Torn between Slough & Hayes and Yeading at mo.

Been to a few Slough games, seemed alright ish.

Not gonna become a full time anorak...?

Local Teams

Shame Hillingdon Borough went by the wayside, they would've been the obvious choice.

Local Teams

................Harrow Borough............Harrows finest............

Please do not be torn. It is clearly Hayes!!

Yeah, defo mate.

Thinking level 7 and above so only Wealdstone, Hayes and Yeading or Slough really.
Uxbridge is the next level down, so too low for you.

Local Teams

Harrow too far out mate.

Born in Hillingdon and most of my family are originally from Hayes or Ruislip, therefore Hayes and Yeading or Wealdstone.

I've been in Iver for near 26 years, so maybe thinking Slough but not sure. Can't stand the place.

Yeah, level 8 is a bit low/too anorak haha.

It's only ever been Bees for me wherever I've lived. I did like Man City in the late 80s when I was a student up there as some of my local friends were fans and Maine Rd was three minutes walk from my student digs. I couldn't afford to go much though. Only a handful of games really.

I'm planning to go and watch Horsham FC at their new stadium on NYD as I can't get to Bristol. It's the first time I can actually go as their home games have been coinciding with ours so I would be at GP.

Local Teams

Keep an eye on Harrow Borough and Wealdstone.
My Grandads good pal was a regular at Hayes when I was younger and we'd all go to games quite often.
Went to few Colchester games whilst at uni. My word Layer Road was a dump though

And the bread pudding slices made by the lady who has been making it for many a year is the best in the world !!!

I’d imagine you’re talking about Averill?

She’s been there since I played for them many years ago...

If we need a fix we go to Wealdstone, not sure about the others but Wealdstone let you in for a concession if you show your Bees season ticket.

.............yep,Harrow Borough do the same..............

Local Teams

Since I retired a couple of years ago I’ve had a season ticket. I’ve been involved with my village team for over 50 years. Now have time during the week to mark pitch, wash kit, clean changing rooms, undertake official duties as treasurer, keep all stats and loads of other tasks.
Although I’m obviously happy doing this (wouldn’t do it otherwise) I get so much more pleasure out of the 80+ mile round trip to GP given the quality of football we are dishing up. Long may it continue!!

Local Teams

Since moving nearly 4 years ago, my local club is now Brackley Town. Still have a Bees season ticket, but when I can’t get to away games I go watch them. National League North, so not a bad standard. Probably get to about 8/10 of their games each season.

Horsham v Lewes is always a good game.

Local Teams

Might go and watch Wealdstone vs Slough, the cheaper admission at Stones sounds decent.

Then I'll go and watch Hayes and Yeading some other time then decide.

Uxbridge, Hillingdon Borough etc all playing too far down the pyramid.

Slough probably my closest team to Iver of any decent standard.

Between them 3.

Local Teams

Chertsey Town in Alwyns Lane is a cracking little club and won at Wembley last year with plenty of Bees there to support them.
Abbey Rangers are also growing into a very well run club as well who have excellent facilities with 4g pitches and floodlights.

Local Teams

Hampton and Richmond Borough is my Non League team of choice.

Normally several Bees there when we aren't playing, or are away.

Yeah, seems to be loads of bees round your way. Wish we had a few round here haha.

Local Teams

Hampton for me.
My local club, and I played for them for a bit.
Had my wedding reception in “Hammonds” second time around.

Local Teams

Live in Ruislip Manor so follow Wealdstone closely and go to the occasional game.

Local Teams

A few too many Wealdstone followers on here for my liking.

Local Teams

When I grew up, Brentford was the local team, although perhaps Kingstonian might have been a close run thing. In fact, I think wherever I've lived, the closest football club has always been a professional one - Exeter City, Wimbledon and Arsenal. (No idea about down under, I don't take an interest at all in Aussie soccer.)

Local Teams

Moving out of London has killed me lol My new local team (Basingstoke) have moved away and have no real fixed home ground. God knows what my next nearest is.

Local Teams

That's what I was thinking. Looking forward to it.

I used to watch Horsham as much as I could at Queen Street.
I have yet to go to the new ground and since they left in 2008 I have only seen them one time and that was vs Lewes at Gorings Mead (Horsham YMCA FC). Well out of the habit of seeing them now.

Local Teams

H and Y for me but only occasionally these days. Only 5-10 mins drive and easy access and parking. Adults £12, concessions £10, 16-21 £6, U16 free. Decent range of very reasonably priced canned beers in small (temporary) bar last time I went in.

Local Teams

Keep meaning to watch Selsey when I'm staying at our place down there but haven't made it yet. Up here Wealdstone and Harrow Borough.

Slough play on an astro turf so it is not real football.

Local Teams

St Albans City and Borehamwood for me to keep an eye on. Like to see all the NL Herts clubs results, though, even lower than Conference South. What an anorak I am!

You sure? I watched a live FA cup game on telly from their new stadium last year. It didn't look like astro turf. Looked a nice ground though.

I used to watch Wealdstone many years ago when they played at Lower Mead. Have never been to see them at Ruislip. Worried I might encounter The Wealdstone Raider. ?

He's harmless and only about 4ft10in.

Local Teams

Littlehampton Town, when I'm down at my brothers, even went to St Ives Town once when I was down in Cornwall.

Local Teams

Always want Woking to do well, and would love to see them get into the Football League.

[/QUOTE

My girlfriend lives in Chertsey not far from Chertsey FC, looks a right dump.

CHERTSEY TOWN usually about a dozen times a season.............and its NOT a fkin dump either ;) loads of brentford live here (mostly driven by my local recruitment philosophies since moving here in 95lol) crowds are averaging around 300 a game at the moment which is about 200% up on a few years ago and it has a decent chap turnout for 8th tier football ;) recetnly took 300 plus to woking for a midweek surrey senior cup game and outnumbered the home support by 5 to 1 lol been an incredible year for the curfews on and off the pitch ;)

Local Teams

Been toying with the idea of taking in a Thame United game for a couple of seasons but as a single Dad to three seems like I have barely enough time to make Bees games with the little one but one day I'll make it there :)
