looking for work (remote)

It's a long shot, but with our community here there is an off-chance that one of you has something...

I was laid off last week, with three months severance pay. So i have time to look around, but worth posting this now "just in case" any of you know of anything.

I have an 8-month old at home, so the possibility of doing something remotely is appealing.

Wages here are lower than in Britain - probably around 60% on average? (no figures for that, just anecdotal evidence)

So it might be that you've been looking around at a certain price-point, but unable to find the desired quality?

I've got a lot of experience with finance and data-processing, nothing too special or fancy... Also plenty of writing and copy-editing experience.

I can provide a full CV and good references on request, of course :sorted:

So i appreciate there's an extent to which i might be asking for a "dream" job, and no big worries because the labour market here is saturated so i'm pretty sure i'll be able to sort myself out easily if need be (i found myself a quality gig within 3 days last time! although, i say "quality", look how it's turned out!!). But, if you know of something, feel free to PM me and we can discuss further and see if i'm able to be useful. I could easily get over to England regularly (say once a month max?) if needed, depending on the arrangements offered ;)

So PM me if anything, or of course, in time-honoured GPG fashion, feel free to make jokes below :)

All the best to you, hope it all works out.

You're welcome to share my tent if neither of us finds anything in the next few months. lol Seriously, though, good luck. From what you describe, sounds like you'll be just fine.

Isn’t labour market saturation a bad rather than good thing? Doesn’t that mean there are more trees than jobs or have I got that wrong? Good luck

hmm, didn't know how to put it properly... but, there are more open positions than competent workers locally

i should've mentioned - part-time and/or odd hours wouldn't be a problem, depending on the overall situation :)

:D no

With your disdain towards Brexit, should you not be seeking something in the Group of 27 ?

Hm, yes, that might well complicate things down the line. Worth an ask though. I will of course, as stated, be looking here too.

Good luck Mr T.
I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Not really. In a worse case scenario he's got 3 years of UK in EU. 1 till March 2019 plus 2 years (so far) of transition in which all EU rules are adhered to. 3 years is a decent time in a job.

I know a guy willing to pay someone a lot of money to break the world limbo dancing record. Any good?

Teaching English online. It's easy, it's flexible, and it pays OK. And the demand is huge. You know it makes sense.

Perhaps a career in on-line advice or mediation as to how to deal with the timelines involved in new soccer stadium builds?
