The one year option not taken up by Brentford. He deserves to be playing first XI football somewhere in the EFL…..

It’s how we operate. We don’t want to spend money, and block the pathway for B team players, on back ups who are barely going to play.

Just because we’re up in the PL now, don’t expect the club to abandon most of the principles that got us here.

Quite a few keepers have stepped up from nowhere to establish themselves in the PL.
And it has looked for some time that Gunnarson and Balcombe were being readied to push for the first team.
Back to topic, Luke deserves a starting spot at a Championship club. He's does us proud and wish him all the best

Yeah, a good servant but no way should he be backup in the Premier League. He should go and be someones number 1 for a while, he's been a 'cup keeper' for long enough.

Most Premiership Clubs have at least Three Back Up Goal Keepers, and I cannot see us being any different. No reason why Gunnarsson cannot return if that is considered to be for the best. Daniels IMO should stay he has proved himself to be an exceptional back up keeper, and he may wish to stay as he will be very well paid to sit on our bench, also as an addition he is another older head in the Dressing Room. Older heads may well be need when the pressure is on. Hope he stays!

Always seemed to be ready and willing to jump in if needed - and when he did, he wasn't bad at all. Really hope a championship club picks him up and he gets regular first team action.

Under 21 setup obviously rate Balcombe maybe Gunnarsson and Balcombe fight it out for number two spot..I can’t see us bringing in someone that stands in their way although if that was the case why not keep Luke for another year as experienced cover who can also help in training ground

If Raya got injured we would struggle with either in goal. We need experience as back up for this position.

I’ve always rated Daniels and thought for some time that he could be a first choice in some championship teams. A different style to Raya, of course, but I can’t remember him having a bad game for us. I’d quite like him to stay but, if a move would be in his best interests, I’d thank him for his commitment to the club and wish him well in the future.

He should get snapped up pretty quickly by a Championship team and I am sure he'll be going somewhere to start week in week out.

For us, I hear Buffon is looking for a club? West London may appeal! ??

Swansea need a new keeper they could do a lot worse, doubt it would break their bank

Someone like Daniels. Surprised to see him go actually. I think he knew since he signed the role he was going to play, so does he want first team or we haven’t offered him a new deal? Like you say, would be better to have someone with experience but I think that’s going to be difficult to find. Although Leicester have got it with Danny Ward, without injury or suspension he knows he’s not playing league games. He must be happy with that ??‍♂️

At his age his best interests will be the size of his wage packet, should he stay he will be on an even higher salary than he is now. He will be well paid to sit on our bench. I hope he stays he is a good Goal Keeper, and should Raya break a leg on the first day after the widow closes neither Gunnarsson or Balcombe will be good enough for the Premiership.

I think Gunnarsson is excellent and a fantastic prospect. Question is whether we can get him a decent loan or keep him here as a third choice keeper and give him some cup games? Suspect as people have pointed out we'll look to get an English keeper in for the bench..

I have nothing but admiration & respect for Luke Daniels. He's a solid all round keeper who should be 1st choice for a top half championship team. I do think he could do a job as our No.2 in the PL but understand the footballing dynamics if he's off. I wish him every success.

Agree with you on the loan, think league 1 or Championship would really be best for him at this moment in time. Also it's really important that Raya has competition for his place. Unhealthy if he just expects to play every week, not good for all parties. Gunnarsson not in a position to do this atm.

Like others said never let us down. He desreves his chance at anouther club for football. Like to see him push bentley out at bristol city and he would be a improvement.

Sad to see him go. He was always solid and dependable when he played for us. I always felt he was too good to be sat on the bench. He deserves a starting job somewhere and hopefully he goes out and gets one. Thanks to Luke. Really good job. Wish him all the best.
