Fantastic and most unexpected victory considering the makeshift side.
Real backs to the wall stuff and a thoroughly committed performance all round. Mind you Luton were very poor. Cant believe they are challenging for the play offs.
We had a few shots although there were the usual missed chances from our strikers. Hunt missed an easy chance just before half time when he decided to take too long to control a ball in front of an empty net.
Second half, great start when Rowan Vine confounded his critics with a fantastic goal picking up a loose ball on the edge of the box and then curling a superbly struck shot just inside the left hand post. Look out for it tomorrow, well worth seeing.
McCammon was a bit of a handful for the defenders after this but blotted his copybook somewhat by managing to miss a simple header from 6 yards out with the goal gaping after an excellent cross right onto his head. I'm sure there will be plenty there today who thought he played well but to be honest for me that miss just sums him up.
Wally was absent today so hopefully was putting the finishing touches to our new striker. Apart from Vine's sensational strike there was little up front to show we dont need anyone.
Great battling performance though and an excellent 3 points. Reasonable debut from Fieldwick . He looked lightweight but got stuck in OK. Makeshift centre backs played well. Fullarton off injured at HT replaced by Hutch who did OK.

Their miss from 12 yards was comical. Smith scuffed a goal kick straight to their forward, who with only the keeper to beat managed to hit it about 15 yards wide. rofl rofl rofl

A cracking, exhilarating game and one that reminds you why we follow the Bees, stirring stuff from players and fans alike. From the first to the last minute they played their hearts out, closing down every Luton player and showing more width and movement than in recent games.
Somner and Frampton were outstanding in makeshift roles and Fieldwick had a very mature debut despite looking like he should be in the Under 16s.
I thought the midfield won the game for us with Jay Smith looking very stong again, King Kev and Hunt always probing and yes Eddie Hutch did look good, almost scored twice as well. Vine had his best game for ages and scored a very good goal.. watch it.
We outplayed and outsung them.......heros all, a good day out and one which showed we should be looking up the table not down.

Fantastic perfomance today. Backs to the wall it wasn't.
Fieldwick slotted in nicely at left back - with my MOM Frampton and Somner as centre halves kept the Luton front two quiet.
Despite a decent first 45 minutes, I thought the turning point in the game was the injury to Fullarton just before half time - with him replaced by Hutchinson. Previously I've not had a good word to say about Hutchinson - but he looked like a different player today. Won everything in the air, looked a yard sharper, and gave us more options when going forward.
Anyone who tries to tell me that Hunt & Vine are a better option than Vine & Mac up front are having a laugh. Vine looks a much better player alongside a target man, and the way he played today suggests he much prefers playing alongside McCammon. His goal was sublime, lovely touch took him inside the defender on the edge of the area, and he unleashed an unstopable shot.
Mark did head just over from a lovely cross, but it wasn't nearly as straightforward as the chance Hunt missed in the first half. Fantastic game, fantastic support
The commitment shown by the boys today was outstanding, we are clearly a less technically gifted side than Luton but we outbattled them in every department.
What really suprised me was that after scoring we actually took control of the game and didn't invite them onto us at all. If we were a bit more incisive on some of our attacks we could have had a few more.
Thought the defence was outstanding - particularly Frampton and special mention to Fieldwick too, looks a great prospect.
Every one of them ran their heart out and you could see how much it meant to them at the final whistle.
All the more satisfying considering i never remember feeling as pessimistic before a game as I did today...

Well done lads - I'm sure that I wasn't the only one who was dreading the worst today because of (a) the rather makeshift side and (b) our recent results. I'm also pleased that we got more shots on goal than Luton.
Great to see that Marky Mac was back up front, although I suspect that Wally felt he had no option in view of the depleted squad. He really should have brought Mark back a few games ago after trying out the Hunt-Vine experiment up front, which, it was evident to everyone but Wally, was never going to work.
Marky Mac may not score many goals and he seems to have his critics (who also seem to want to compare him with Owusu, whose pace he'll never have), but for me, he is a more than useful target man who can hold up the ball and bring other players into the game. What we had with Viney and Hunty was the ball seldom being kept and thus our defence was immediately put under pressure again.
Wally, injuries + suspensions permitting, PLEASE let's make sure that the Vine-Hunt strike duo remains in the past. Don't get me wrong, Hunty is great on the wing + Viney is our top goalscorer, but he needs a proper target man to play with.
Once again, great result, lads, and now let's go for two in a row on Tuesday to banish any fear of relegation to the very back of our minds.

Superb performance much deserved win. The defence was excellent and dealt with Luton easily backed up by the always reliable Smith.
The midfield was excellent particular after Hutch came on and he seemed to give us a more attacking and open look out but what impressed me most was the way that they kept the ball when playing out time.
Mac was superb running his b***ocks off the header although six yards out was harder then it looked as he had to jump quite high to get their and it appeared it was just a little to high to knock down.
Fieldwick deserve credit for coping so comfortably on debut.

I had to endure watching this game from the middle of the Luton fans. While there was no doubt we were very solid and battled well, we were helped by the fact that Luton were absolute cack. They could still be playing now and they wouldn't have scored. That miss by Crowe in the first half is the worst piece of football I've seen this season. And did you catch the Luton fans singing "dodgy keeper" at their OWN goalie when he fumbled that free kick round the post?

Well he wasn't on the bench so he must have banished himself to the stands. Mind you the Luton bench is so tiny you can only get 4/5 people in it....thinking about it the whole ground is pretty awful and they wouldn't get away with those segregation arrangements in Hounslow.

Whilst I remember did anyone else notice that when ever they got a corner instead of having a man on each post Hunt just seemed to run across behind Smithy? Hadn't noticed this before do we normally do this or was this the first time.

Great game.
Don't know who was 'man of the match' - but it would not be my usual choices Smith or Hunt.
Apart from the clearance straight to the Luton player. Smith also put another directly into touch.
In the second half, Hunt was getting nowhere against a Luton defender right in front of the away end. He then went down as though poleaxed by an elbow in the face. He was very lucky not to get found out and booked. He then had the cheek to keep complaining to the ref about not getting anything for his cheating.
Funny ground all those 'executive boxes' on one side. Looks like a patio display at B and Q - or a row of beach huts.
I also heard you had to be a 'member' to get in the Luton section.
If this is true, they do well to get a claimed average 69% of capacity for their games.

superb 2nd half performance and 3-0 wouldnt have been to harsh a result - excellent defence and vine and mac looked far better than recent games - 'good work fellas' !!

Great result, our best performance for ages and it was great to see so much creativity from our side. We had so many chances we should have won 2 or 3 nil at least but at least we won.
The defence was very solid and the midfield was superb, Hutchinson was vastly imporved from the player that played before and Jay Smith gets better with every game. Hunt seemed to start poorly on the left but came into the game as it developed and found lots of space.
An important victory, and an unexpected one. If we continue to play like this then we'll win more than we lose from now on.

It was right in front of us too. We certainly did not see any contact. We think he just cheated out of frustration at being denied the ball.

A nervy start for Bees fans, knowing the changes to the back 4 and Luton impressed, particularly down their left for the first 5-10 minutes.
A fingertip save from Smith kept it at 0-0 and then Luton missed (laughably) a great chance when 2 of their players had only Smith to beat.
After that Luton were dreadful and it was difficult to see how they could be above us in the league. Talk about kick and rush, it was mostly kick and hope.
By half-time it had become apparent that the game was there for the Bees to take as, despite a weakened team, we were playing the better (the only) football.
A run through the Luton defence by Hunt straight from the kick-off for the 2nd half almost produced a goal and it certainly gave Bees fans a belief that we could definitely win this one.
Vine's goal was a beauty. The Luton keeper was hopeless but even a decent keeper would have struggled to get to Rowan's shot, it was so perfectly placed just inside the post.
The pitch was poor, more like a sandpit (although nothing like Bury last season) and this led to both keepers struggling with goal kicks.
Interesting to hear the Luton fans singing "And now you're going to believe us, we're not allowed to swear". I guess a few fans had been turfed out at the last home game or something.
