As this site is democratic one could we as members of the GPG have a vote to agree not to post any rumours/hearsay regarding Martin Allen future job prospects.

I am personally fed up with this type of speculation.

Martin has already said that he will tell us if and when he decides to move on.

Thank you.

agreed, especially if they're from wurzels who struggle with the english language :sorted:

and after we have restricted this element of our freedom of speech will someone ask that we stop posting comments about how much Noades is at fault, as we've pointed it often enough already?

where would it end??

MA Rumour Threads

By the same token you could argue that as he has said that he will tell us about players being bought and sold and we ought not to listen to rumour, transfer speculation - when's Kanoute coming? - threads should be banned too.

Then we can all move to North Korea and imprison ourselves in gulags. :sorted:

On the other hand, as Virgil (the poet, not the Tracey boy) said: Now in no time at all
Through all the African cities Rumour goes - Nimble as quicksilver among evils. Rumour, than which no evil flies more swiftly. / She flourishes as she flies, gains strength by mere motion.

Yeah, let's become as dull and uninteresting as the official site. ;)

Why not just ignore the threads you don't like, e.g. ones about Martin Allen heading off to become the new manager of Borussia Dortmund (my mate, whose sister is married to a guy who used to sleep with someone who has German GCSE told me so it must be true), and read the ones you do like.

And nice use of the classics Paul O'Brien. Not enough Latin literature gets quoted on here. Ridens et ridentibus...

keep rumours so we can laugh at the losers who post them

MA Rumour Threads

No. Along with the ridiculous transfer rumour threads they are high on my favourite thread types.

And one day one'll be right.....

Let's just close the messageboard and then maybe I can get some work done.

i think people should be allowed to say what they want-noone is forcing everyone to read it

I think you have to blame my love of 70s European rock (eg Amon Duul 2, Faust, Neu, Burnin' Red Ivanhoe etc.) for that quote rather the classics. I remembered it was on the sleeve of Focus 3.

It's from the Aenied, Book IV - if I'm not mistaken. Getting a U at Latin A-Level had to be good for something.

I can't believe we're even discussing this :nono:

What is the purpose of this whole site ? - banter, exchanges of opinion and gossip. Hopefully with more than a touch of humour :sorted:

End of....

So that's why I didn't recognise it....I'm only on Janet and John, Book II lol

Sounds right. (BTW, isn't it ironic that it's possible to get a U in Latin when they didn't have the letter but used V instead? A bit like making 'dyslexic' such a tough word to spell.)

And that 'v' were pronounced like 'w' apparently...although how you can work that out I do not know but that's what my Latin teacher told me. Cast a whole new light on Julius Caeser's: veni, vidi, vici. Doesn't quite have the same oomph with w's....weni, widi, wici... :)

Bollox voted yes and meant no :sorted:

re: puer miserime et exuliisime.
A phrase frequently aimed in my direction by Mr. Boot, my latin teacher all those years ago. If I remember correctly it means " wretched and miserable boy". Fancy me remembering that.
