Maff Brown

Does anyone remember Maff Brown? I heard an interview with him earlier (on BBC Radio Sussex...) in which he said he had played for us between 1990 and 1993. He mentioned winning the championship in 1992 and said he had to give the game up because of an ankle injury. He's a comedian now.

Wikipedia says he was born in 1974, so he would have been only 15/16 when he joined. I don't remember him at all. Did he play in our youth team?

Maff Brown

youth player maybe

He was a trainee (if he even reached that status) - known in those days as Matt Brown, I believe!

I don't think he would be too well remembered for his footballing career, I don't think he even ever managed to break into the reserve side. He got a few mentions in the programmes for games with the schoolboy team, though!

I went to school with Matt. Think he is exaggerating a little when he said he played for us! Was on schoolboy books and then some years later, coached juniors to some degree.

Saw him tonight. Was the warm up for Lee Hurst at the Berry Theatre in Hedge End. He mentioned he was a bees fan.

Top notch funny geezer. Worth going to see. Lee Hurst wasn't bad either :)

Yeah, I know him and he still makes the odd Brentford game. Nice fella, runs one of the best small comedy circuits in South west London, attracting big name comedians looking to test out new material on small audiences.
Out of the Box comedy is top value for money.
