Managerial Changes 2014/15

Pompey has been a poison chalice of late and reckon they need to be brave rather than safe, just think he'd be a good fit.

They can keep falling and then rot in Non League for all I care.

Hated them at our place but a grudging respect when they're still getting 14,000 season ticket holders at the wrong end of Division 4.
Great ground if a but tatty with history and always a good atmosphere, personally far more clubs I'd like to see drop out of league.

I shall spend the day refreshing, hoping for an update. Possibly.

Yep, another way underperfoming club.
You can add Oxford United to the list as well.

Bloke at work is a big Wrexham fan and said the senior players at the club are causing the Manager lots of grief ...... Should have had a big clear out of all their aged players and rebuilt a couple of years back when they lost at Wembley.

has Stuart Pearce got the sack yet? lol

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Pleased Millwall won. Their chairman deserves Championship football for having the courage to stick with the manager unlike others. Plenty of clubs above them that deserve to be playing League One football.

It's going to be tough for Millwall. At this stage of the season, I don't think the table lies and they don't seem to have much financial leeway to improve the squad.
Last game of the season is away to Wolves. Tough one.
Leeds v Rotherham on the same day.
I just hope we can send Wigan down.

Managerial Changes 2014/15

This was the first of about five 'easier' games against non-contending clubs.
I have no doubt Forest won't make much of their opportunity.

Beat Derby away.
Lose Fulham away (3-0 down after half an hour with all eleven men on the pitch).
Lose Millwall at home.
Would you bet on them winning away at Brighton?

Danny Mills was right about Stuart Pearce and probably the same applies to Steve Bruce.

It's clear from this thread I'm a 'Millwall sympathiser' and I have good mates who support them.

Holloway has been backed and they're breaching FFP in order to try and secure Championship survival. They've got around 20 players out of contract in the summer and their hope was it would be good enough to stave off relegation. Obviously it hasn't worked and they're trying to speed up the process and the signing of Hooiveld has given them much-needed calmness at the back,

I've seen them a number of times this season and, while they started off strongly and won at Fulham, they went downhill rapidly. They had a phase where they'd come back from two (or more) goals down, which they did against us, Blackburn (with 10 men but it looked as if Rovers bottled it at The Den), Wolves and Bournemouth.

However, that started to dry up and they just lost games (and badly). Holloway has changed things around and it seems as if he has found a system that is starting to work. They battled well against Reading and picked up a point, after being down to 10 just before half-time. However, there were signs on Tuesday that it was starting to turn around.

If you were to look at the sides down there, I think Millwall are the only one really capable of going on a run where they pick up 10 points from 15 or 15 from 27, which would lift them up the table pretty quickly.

Blackpool have been doomed from the start given their awful owner and are likely to finish bottom.
Wigan look as if they're having a fire sale.
Brighton have been poor and inconsistent all season. They don't have a goalscorer.
Rotherham don't have the squad, in my view, to go on a winning run.
Leeds and Charlton are unstable clubs and could easily go on a bad run leading to manager sackings. Leeds have boardroom instability with Cellino. Charlton have a manager whose former player said he 'doesn't play football, just long balls.'
Reading, Fulham, Bolton, Cardiff and Forest are a three game losing run away from being sucked into the drop zone.

On a different note...

Last home game of the season at GP:

Stevenage - relegated (We're promoted)
Doncaster - win promotion at GP
Sheff Wed - (all but) secure promotion at GP
Southampton - (all but) secure promotion at GP
Hartlepool - stay up
Luton - relegated (We're Champions)
Hereford - win promotion at GP

Charlton's an interesting one. Confidence is not high there, I could see them getting sucked into a relegation battle.
They draw alot of games, but we should definitely take three points off them at their place in a couple of weeks time.
Leeds seem to be doing just enough, the players are clearly playing for Redfearn.

I agree. They're the pick of the teams to drop in my view. They might only stay up through others' inadequacies.

looking forward in seeing Pearce back in my local tesco in the next few weeks then, as his girlfriend lives local..

Managerial Changes 2014/15

It was a strange appointment and can't see him lasting much longer, fans reckon the footballs gash as well.

They took to him about as well as West Ham fans took to Allerdyce and his style of play. I don't think Slade will be given time to turn it round to be honest. Looking at a few of their forums and they all want him out. He was up against it from the start there and i don't see him winning the locals over anytime soon.

I'm surprised how long Alan Curbishley has been out of work for..

Slade must have thought he won the lottery when he got that gig. He'll get a good pay off and end up back in League 1 or 2 so it'll be a nice little earner for him.

He'll be able to talk about the mad owner and his meddling to cover just how rubbish he's been too. He is this season's Big Nick of the management world.

Dougie Freedman named as forest new manager... blooming hell he's *****..

As long as they leave warbs alone thats the main thing

They don't like the Freedman appointment, on their forum one fan said he'd even prefer Warburton.

If I were a tricky tree I think I'd have rathered stuck with Pearce than a clueless dougie freedman.so many clubs go down the old pro route when as we've found out to our success there's many better candidates out there who may not have played at a decent level but could be excellent coaches

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Hardly surprising given Warbs record and win percentage, I imagine lots of clubs with change in mind would consider him.

I read it in that they didn't rate him. I get the impression Warbs isn't particularly highly thought of in general (by other fans). Still a bit of an unknown maybe.

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Amazed but delighted

Warburton hasn't got the reputation as what I would call a firefighter.

Let's not forget the surprise on here when he was appointed.

No argument but he's taken us to 5th in The Championship so regardless of what other teams fans know about him, I'll bet every Chairman in The Championship has done their homework on him.

Alan Curbishley would make a good Forest manager, bring some sanity to the place, but maybe he's doesn't want to uproot from Stanford le Hope in Essex.
Tim Sherwood would love the challenge.

So Curbishley is waiting for either the Southend or Dagenham job then?

7 years now since Curbishley was a manager. Doesn't look like he fancies it anymore

He should be however...

His success here has been and continues to be in completely different conditions if he was working at a club like Forest or Cardiff. Obviously hypothetical as he's unlikely to go, but I'm not sure how successful he'd be working with the likes to Tan etc.

Bees fans may be being reassured daily that Warbs is the real deal, but fans of other clubs do not spend every waking moment following Brentford and all things related.

They'll learn soon enough.

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Warbs is intelligent enough to know what a great owner we have.

Also it's in our favour that Warbs made good dosh in his previous career, so unlikely to have his head turned by a juicy contact offered by a gazillionaire.

I genuinely think it would only be a big big club with history that would appeal to him, i.e. the big 4 or Everton, Villa or Spurs.

Don't believe he lives there either, you may be confusing him with Nick Logan. ;):D

Abridge in Essex, not close to Stanford-le-Hope.

Managerial Changes 2014/15

I fail to see what Freedman would do that Pearce wasn't doing. Pearce wasn't working (and is working less now…) but Freedman I don't see improving things.

Warburton doesn't fit what a lot of those clubs look for, i.e. a 'name in the game' and 'Championship experience' (regardless of success).

He was fairly briefly on the staff at Fulham. I thought they would turn to him after the Felix Magath debacle, but apparently not.
Can seem like a right miserable sod sometimes, but like Coppell is a class above most of the names you hear linked whenever vacancies at clubs with 20,000+ attendance come up.
