Mary Halder RIP

I could not go to Higgy's funeral as I went instead to the Funeral of that Bees stalwart & lifelong fan Mary Halder who died after a short illness.
Mary worked on Braemar turnstiles for many years as well as helping out in the office and of course the shop.
As was said today its like a light has gone out on Braemar
R I P Mary you will be missed by many

Heard about this out in Leipzig. Could not believe it. Such a lovely woman who welcomed us to every home game through 'her' turnstile and would always provide pleasant conversation at a number of away games. Will be greatly missed and I just hope The Bees put on a number of memorable performances this season for her to enjoy from above. R.I.P Mary

Mary Halder RIP

A really lovely women who loved the club to bits. Always had time to talk to anyone. RIP Mary.

Mary Halder RIP

I am sorry not to have known her but obviously a real 'Bee'.

Sadly, so many are going to that grandstand above use and let's hope they have lots of memories and laughter together.

Condolences to Mary's family at this sad time.

Don't know the name, maybe the face.

RIP to what sounds like a true Bee.

Very, very sad news indeed, and her loss will be felt by many.
Thank you, Mary, for your smiling service to our club and its supporters...

Mary Halder RIP

Probably knew her face, but didn't know her name, but reading the postings on here a well respected Brentford Bee. Another sad day. RIP and condolences to her family.

Mary Halder RIP

Jackie (marys daughter here, signing in under my husbands name) Thank you for your kind words about our wonderful mum. (I will try to find a way to upload a photo).

Below is a note read out on Monday about mum and her love for the bees.

Mary was a busy mum and she also had several jobs over the years; she sold Tupperware, was a market researcher, collected the pools, and packaged Christmas tags, but her favourite job was at her beloved Brentford Football Club where she had been a fan from a young age. She went from jumping over the turnstiles as a youngster with her brother Peter to working on them, as well as in the shop and the office. Mary could never believe that Brentford were willing to pay her, she would have done it all for nothing! And despite many years of seeing them fail, Mary always managed to believe that each year could be the one for the Bees. If you were ever lucky enough to sit next to her at a match you’ll know she had a mean elbow to ensure that you didn’t miss a second!

Taken from us far too soon. RIP Mary x

Mary Halder RIP

I cannot really take it in. Mary was such a chirpy supporter. Always had a cheery word to say as we went through the turnstiles. I always asked her to predict the result, and she always made me laugh and feel good about going to Griffin Park.
Boy, will she be hugely missed...

A lovely lady , taken from us far too early...

Mary Halder RIP

Very sad news. RIP Mary.

Mary Halder RIP

Mary Halder RIP

I first met Mary when we played Leeds away a couple of seasons back, she was running the coach that I travelled on. The plan was to come back via train after a few beers in Leeds centre after the game so would not be using the coach back to Brentford. Although I said that I would probably not be coming back Mary insisted on me taking her mobile number and made me promise to call her after the game and let her know what I was doing. She was concerned that the coach would leave without me if I changed my mind and wanted to make sure I got home ok. She was so friendly and caring I made sure I called her and confirmed that I did not need the coach. I was so impressed with the personal touch and care that she showed me that day I never forgot her. I saw her once more on the turnstiles and we had a little chat and I thanked her for her concern at the Leeds game. A really lovely kind person who I only met twice, but always remember her. Thoughts go to her family.

Mary Halder RIP

Always used her turnstile and always had a joke, really nice person who will be sadly missed by her family and us.

RIP Mary.

Mary Halder RIP

Really sad news RIP Mary, she always had a smile on her face.

Mary Halder RIP

Only just seen this and it is really sad news. My two kids would always insist on going into GP through "Mary's turnstile". She got to know them both over the past few years and always asked after them if one missed a match. Also sat next to her at the Charlton away game the season before last and saw her at various other matches. She used to talk about one of her children, daughter I think, who lived in Australia and also her grandchildren. Very sad to see this and my kids will be upset when I tell them too. RIP Mary.

Mary Halder RIP

Sad news. I remember her young, and not so young boy, eagerly hurrying through the turnstiles.

Let's hope the club offer some dedication on the pitch before or at H/T during the first home game, or at least a mention in the programme to the stalwarts, stewards, and fans who've passed away during the closed-season.

Only just picked up on this news a very sad day indeed. I last saw Mary at Charlton away last season but knew her and her brother Peter well for a while. She was a lovely lady who would always make me feel welcome at any Brentford match, home or away. A real credit to her family and to all at Brentford she will be very sadly missed. RIP Mary x

Mary was a massive Bees fan, a wonderful wife, mother, sister, a loveable lady with a very kind heart. I'm SO proud that she also happened to be my Auntie. I hope you enjoyed looking down on GP yesterday Mary?!!

xxx Always In Our Hearts!!! xxx

Mary Halder RIP

Only just seen this - really sad news. Mary was a lovely lady, incredibly friendly, I used to deliberately go through her turnstile to say hello and she was always full of banter - she would always be there to help out at the club on days where things we busier than usual, like selling tickets for big cup games etc. She will be very sadly missed. RIP Mary.

Mary Halder memorial plaque - Turnstile 12 on Braemar Road

In memory of Mary Halder, and her 25 years as a turnstile operator, BFC have mounted a plaque on turnstile 12 in Braemar Road in her honour.

Give her plaque a little rub for luck as you pass through.

Come on you bees.

Mary Halder RIP

Lovely.

Special thoughts to ALL those watching from above. It's gonna be emotional.

Mary Halder RIP

Fantastic tribute to Mary who i used to work opposite to into the turnstiles. She had a fantastic rapport with the fans and her enthuaism for all things Brentford was only matched by her love of her visits to Australia to see her family.

I really hope we win this one today for her!
