Massive new QPR development planned.

Times today announced their plans to transform an area larger than Canary Wharf, including 24000 new homes, shops, offices, hotel, a 5000 capacity arena and a 40000 capacity stadium in the Old Oak Common area.

Plans to be a new hub collecting Cross rail the new HS2 between London and Birmingham, and other mainline routes.

It is a £10billion scheme.

Won't happen. HS2 if it happens will have to have reduced costs to happen and there will be cheaper alternative to Old Oak imho that will be used, if an dits a big if HS2 happens.

Where's the money coming from ? No idea what their debt is but it must be colossal. Aren't they also facing the prospect of a massive fine over wages? They say Mittal writes it all off. I say bo**ox.

It does remind me of Noades BeeDome with Monorail, so ridiculous people almost believed it!

Seems to me QPR are going to continue attempting to be the best thing sinced sliced bread and fail horribly until the benefactors get bored and then fall horribly into an abyss.

Pompey had plans for a 40k stadium, too.

I have done on very odd ocassion if picadilly line has problems. May use it more at new stadium as nearer I would think than S Ealing, although Kew Bridge would be easily accesible for many coming from other side of London, its laso zone 3 whereas Brentford is zone 4, does that make any difference to journey price? .

Not too sure Old Oak hub is going to happen, or indeed HS2 in its current form when improving the line from Reading to Birmingham would be sufficient and build a Slough to Heathrow T5 line as the main route into London

It does for me coming from the West, my travelcard only goes up to 4, I'll continue to go from Brentford.

I ****ing hate QPR with a vengance but they will be saying the same about us with a 20k stadium. Also they took 35k to Cardiff few years ago, they are capeable of filling it. Especially if they were in the top 4 of prem.

Hope this project doesn't happen.

I heard tony Fernandes on five live outlining his plans for his new scheme to bankruptcy.
He must be spending a lot of time with Arry propping up the bar. Was not so much a new stadium
more a blueprint to redevelop two square miles of west London and challenge for the champions league.
Half baked, delusional and cripplingly expensive... Bring it on!

"Old Oak Common is the place to be" - words I never thought I'd hear. Legislation for HS2 is before Parliament soon, but a Dept of Transport bloke I know says it is dead in the water already.

I used Gunnersbury station after the match yesterday, for the first time in a good while. Island platform seems OK but access really is pretty pants if there's more than six of you in a group. Now, if TfL were serious about improvements in tandem with Lionel Road being built, they could install a set of steps at the south end of the platform for matchday use leading up to Wellesley Road. That'd put the willies up the locals...

FERNANDES IS QUALITY... Has tweeted feedback from fans suggests 40K is too much! 30-35 might be better. He likes to listen to the fans.

I think they are the only club in all 4 divisions that can play anywhere without changing their name . There are a few islands north of scotland that would be ideal.

I don't think they have the money for this scheme. Listening to a certain reserve team manager who was at GP on Saturday who also thinks the same.Wish he could have talked louder then I would have heard more.

I watched some of their recent televised defeat at Forest.
They were really short of inspiration, but what strikes you is how many ex Prem senior players they have, even on the bench
With so many of this type of player, their wage bill must already be astronomical & the pressure to get promotiion must be immense

Mata is arguably a World Class player. Why on earth would he go to the Ra Ra's even if they paid him £200k/week. Must be a load of cobblers.
