What should be in the Match Update threads

  • Only BFC and related matches (i.e. those that affect our league table position)

Well, it seems quite a few people still aren't happy about all the off-thread stuff that gets posted on the match updates thread.
How about trying out, for one away game only, having two threads:

1) Bees match updates and "interesting" other scores only. No "hi´s", no weather, no pringles, no Brechin City scores, no who shouldn't have their contract renewed, no "going out for another ciggie".

2) Bees match updates and what ever else you feel like posting.

Everyone should decide which thread they prefer, then stick to that one for the rest of the game, and we'll see how many viewers are on each thread towards the end of the game.

I think that it should be a scores update thread, so you should be allowed to put in whatever scores, within reason, you want.

I am quite happy with a Bees update thread that contains relevant other scores (and Fulham) (i.e. NOT weymouth, staines, various scottish teams etc.)

Another thread is Chit Chat for those that want to talk about the weather etc can be opened at anytime (and there is also the "How does Mads Bee feel this morning" thread too.

The updates thread has desended into a small group of people that think we are all interested in their latest news - that cannot continue.

So would you be happy if there was two threads opened on a match day?

One for Bees and relevant scores i.e in our division, and one for the rest.

How about just 1 thread for Brentford updates.

We don't open an update thread during the week and talk cr@p in there, if we wanted to talk about the weather during the week, we open a weather thread during the week.
If you wish to discuss something new on matchdays during the match, then open a new thread.

It doesn't really bother me - I can have banter anywhere and I'll go with the flow. :sorted: Anyway, I'll be talking to you face to face next week - I promise not to mention the weather. :D ;)

Banana..you are such a funny man rofl That thread hasnt been posted on for a week...and you missed off a ) in your post too ;)

I dont go on the updates thread much, as I am usually at the games but for those who dont have Beesworld, it would be very boring just to sit and wait for any relevant news of any action in the Bees games if nothing else was said. Why would anyone want to know Fulham updates over Staines? Personally, I would prefer Staines and Hampton and Richmond updates as they are local teams rather than Fulham..and Weymouth updates as Weymouth Bee is a very popular lady and we all hope her local team don't get relegated!

It doesnt hurt to have these sort of posts in the thread, it keeps it lively, friendly and entertaining, waiting for updates from our match and then at the end of the game, its the end of the chitchat :shrug:

The mods get strict about what's posted on the updates thread
The good people of the GPG acquiesce
Someone starts a Stockport v Bees Chit-Chat thread (in Chit-Chat)
Both threads are popular and harmony is restored on the GPG

Well I missed the fun today! :eek:

Only been on an updates thread a handful of times and its always been full of people chit chatting, letting us know what Beesworld commentators have said, updating other teams news and just general friendly talk between everyone.....while waiting for any other news......I thought that was the norm, is it not?

Why is this an issue now...or has it been raised before? From what I have seen, its seems its the same people on the updates thread every week and havent they always posted like that? :wave:

If you and Womble Bee don't go on the updates thread that often then don't worry about it as it obviously won't affect you.

We interpret these things as best we can....

GOD went to look at the updates thread just to check it out. But obviously the inanity has been removed. Seems it pisses a lot of people off though :shrug:

Thank you Banana for your post, yes upto now it has been rare for myself but moreso Womble Bee to go on the updates thread but from next season as we wont be going to all the matches, I will in particular will be going on the updates thread, so of course want to ensure that I don't get into trouble with posts as just post exactly what is correct and relevant to the thread. Thank you :wave:

But will you allow folks to post match updates on a chit-chat thread? Because I don't think anyone's going to flit between 2 threads during the match.

it all comes under 'mysterious ways'. I've heard it said though he was pretty sure that when he created the mouse it had at least two buttons.

Having thought about it, and I amone of those that posts in the match update thread, it does seem pretty pointless posting stuff that has just been heard of the Bees World commentary, but there are some people who do follow the game threough these updates.

I think it should be used for updating Bees games and those that affect us, which at the moment is no other games.

If you want to post about the latest Fucham defeat there is the 'Laugh at Fulham' thread.

If the Match Update thread is Brentford only I will open a forum in chit chat called Footie Saturdays (tuesdays) get together. Where we can discuss all footie matches, the weather, the chances of a fry up, if the sound is on, if we emptying our fridges or eating a scone etc etc.

Now which thread do you think is going to be used.

that's what we thought, then banana decided to stay at home last weekend and saw all the crap that was being posted and so decide to become a little dictator and removed said posts and upset the 'clique' on the updates thread.....
