I was privileged (along with 3000 others) to see this young man mature today over a mere 90 minutes.

From a shaky unconfident start to exuding confidence in a single match was a delight to watch.

If he continues to play like this with some deft touches and some impressive control I am looking to him to cement a place in the starting line up and move on to much greater things.

Perhaps my expectations are high but I was really very impressed.

Well done young man.

Quite agree Nigel, I thought he did well for a debut last week, and I accept they were not top breed pro's today, but he took the first goal with maturity and the 2nd on the preverbial sixpence. the 3rd was an emphatic header

Top geezer. The ginge wonderkid did wonders out there today ....Ok I know it was against a sh*t opposition, but Wally's got to put him up front for the Ar*e game to see if he can do it for us there too.

JB....not a ginge, but thinking of dying my hair to suit!:D :D

As I said on Beesworld...the perfect hat trick

Right Foot

Left Foot

Header

plus he had another great shot on target..........

Wonder if he'll start on Tuesday as he did say he felt very tired against P'Boro. As Nigel says though, a great talent in the making....he even looked like he took the celebrations in his stride too :D

4-1

I refuse to cheer or even acknowledge goals scored by any ginge :nono:

I couldn’t get to the game yesterday against Gainsborough, but was pleased to see Matt score 3 goals. What Bees fans wouldn’t be ?!
I did see him last Tuesday up at Peterborough and thought he got a bit of a battering from their defence and he was suffering from it in the 1st half.
I’m not sure if I was seeing things, but I’m sure Wally changed things around in the second half against Peterborough (wrong thread ?) with Evans building things up more on the deck and not having the ball hoofed up in the air to Matty boy, cos he weren’t winning owt in the air against their defence. They were too strong for him.
Nice move Wally as it was more effective and you gotta play too your strengths.
Anyway’s .. Another young lad with bags of promise. I’m sure he’s gonna do well with time.
Well done that man.

He has filled in well for the May holding role but I expect Wally to pick May and Tabb against QPR. Harrold looks to have a good eye for goal and took his goals with a lot of confidence. If we can fill him out a bit over the next couple of years he will be a star for us.

Matt Harrold

Didn't get to see the game on Saturday, is Matty physically strong enough for the Second division yet?

P.S I won't hear another word against gingernuts

it was a joke....lighten up mate...

bloody hell!! sorry Brookiebee .....

Matt Harrold

He doesn't (yet) look the target man you need to be in his position, (as opposed to May who does) but you can't help feeling this young lad has something and is a natural goalscorer. A priceless commodity at our level of the game.

When you think of other promising non league strikers from the past ( Ricky Reinher, Dean Williams etc) he looks a cut above.

Thought the programme notes were interesting, a young man with the right attitude and a clear picture of what he wants.

Its all well and good singing this lads praises for scoring a Hat trick against a non-league team, Ive never seen him play what is he like, Can he repeat his success week in week out if he does then i will very happy but till then i have doubts about the lad.

Matt Harrold

Can we start a vote ?

Can Casual be removed from the board? Constantly posting rubbish or swearing, have a look back at his master pieces

Matt Harrold

Gainsborough gave us a 'run for our money' for 44 minutes and were a match for a number of the sides we have played at GP this season.

I think that if his talent is nurtured and developed Matt could be VERY good indeed. A good debut against Barnsley and a better (actually much better) performance on Saturday.

Of course he needs some games under his belt but on the 'evidence so far' I'm happy.

How can you "have doubts about the lad" if you've never seen him play. Bizarre.

Are you ever planning to see him play?

Typical know nothing comment.

Personally I think the cool and clinical way he took all three of his goals on saturday was very heartening for the future. There is a widely held view that good strikers have a natural ability and maybe just maybe we have unearthed one of those gems.

Lets keep on bashing him though by saying he's no good when he hasn't yet put a foot wrong shall we !!

Matt Harrold

According to the manager of Arlesley Town, he thinks that Harrold shows as much potential as that other Ginge, Dave Kitson who played for him before joining Cambridge

Matt Harrold

Bish & Jnr Bish(s) were very impressed by the lad.

Can I allow myself to be optomistic?

Yes - I thought he looks a great prospect.

Matt Harrold

He played well, and is a good prospect.
he also scored our first proper hat trick since Mr Owusu in 1999.
Lloydy came out of non league, coincidence?

Matt Harrold

Shame he'll be starting on the bench on tuesday night as May is back. Looks like a 70/20 stint. Chelsea are famous for it, ask Joe Cole.

Matt Harrold

A great performance and an excellent hat-trick.

From waht I've seen he will score goals, especially agaisnt weaker teams. I do think he needs to baulk up if he wants to be a target man at this level though. With a bit of extra power, and an improvement in aerial performnace he could go a long way.
