He is available on a free. His contract is up at the end of the season when he would be released.
MA is doing him a favour by giving him the chance to earn another contract elsewhere b4 the end of season rush.
Good luck to Matt, he always did his best, always gave 100% and often performed well.
He deserves a career in football and hopefully he will get it at Cambridge.
People always seem to focuson what a player can't do rather than his trenghts and Matt has been another victim of this trait.

they seem to be playing him in midfield or at left back :shrug: i always thought hed make a good centre back personally

He will be another Booker in my opinion - able to play in several positions but maybe lacking that extra something to make him a guaranteed first choice.
I agree that centre half is his best position as he is good in the air and has an excellent positional sense.
Just a shame that he lacks a bit of height and pace but his other attributes will be enough for him to prosper

Think he is at his level of ability, not quite big enough to be a top-level center back but lacking the pace or (with all respects NLB) the positional sense to be a wingplayer. But an honest pro and by all accounts a good guy so wish him the best.

So did many right wingers when he was played at left back (he must still have nightmares about Wycombe away aswell). I thought he played his best games for us when Wally used him as a sweeper with Sonko and Roget (may have been a friendlies), he looked more than useful with a bit more time to see the game.

Yep,that's controversial......and b***ocks.Lawrence was fine against Walsall,no trouble with him if he keeps playing like that,and by having Matt out that's one guys wages we're not having to pay

Matt was a good player when he was given the chance, but people only seem 2 remember his mistakes.
Just wanna wish him luck where ever he may end up!! coz he was brentford through and through and a top bloke that always had time for the supporters.
