Memorabilia

Evening all,
I am going through all of my late father’s memorabilia of the club.
I have a lot of things left over; is there anywhere that I could sell/donate what he has collected over the years. Items include programmes and books over the years.
For some reason he has some old Fulham programmes but going to use that for kindling.

Please let me know, any suggestions would be welcome.

RIP to your late father, first of all.

It all depends on what the collection is of?

How old are the programmes? Memorabilia etc?

Bees United are now the custodians of Brentford’s heritage, trophies and what memorabilia they had. BU has also collated large collections to supplement what was donated previously. So, you could contact BU if you wish to donate it all and your father will be named on the Memorial page on Bees United’s website and thanked for his generosity.

if you wish to sell, once again, it depends on what the collection is of.

If you need help with it all, then please PM here, i’ll see what i can do to assist you.

To see what i have owned, and still own, you can see here!

Who’s there? I can make out Fred Monk and Tommy Lawton, but I’m terrible at reading anything upside down, worse if it’s ancient signatures!
1. Alf Jefferies (GK), Reg Newton (reserve GK), Tommy Lawton (famous ex-England CF), Johnny Paton (winger ex-Celtic), Bill Slater (wing half ex-Wolves & England), Wally Bragg (defender).
2. Fred Monk (CF/full back), Jackie Goodwin (winger), Tony Harper (wing half, of sliding tackle fame), Billy Dare (CF, 4 versus Saints Xmas 1950, trnsf to W. Ham), Roddy Munro & Ken Horne (full backs)

Hi
Try Rose Winstanley her and her late husband run a business that buys football memorabilia. I had her business card, I'll try and find in when I get home.
Rose is on fb. Or try

I am always after pre-war Brentford handbooks so if anyone on here has them, send me a message.

When I was a nerdy kid in my early teens, I used to consume everything to do with Brentford.
Fast forward forty years and whilst clearing out my loft due to an impending divorce-fueled house move, I found an old scrapbook.
Not sure if anyone else is interested but here’s a sample…
If there is anyone out there as geeky as me when I was fourteen, I’m happy to post the rest?

Is that "Big Tel" Terry Evans scoring the "acrobatic fourth"? I can't imagine even a young Tel doing anything acrobatically.

I got chatting to a nephew of Idris 'Dai' Hopkins in my local pub on Tuesday, he is visiting from overseas.
He is returning to the pub before the weekend and is to bring a Ireland vs.Wales (pre war) international football programme detailing his Uncle 'Dai' in the Welsh line up.
If it is the intentions of the programme to be passed onto Brentford FC, who should I contact either through the GPG or football club?
Thanks in advance..

I have similar paper cuttings . Every Sunday I used to spend ages in WH Smiths reading all our reports and bought the paper with the biggest report .I also recently found a diary I was keeping when I was 17 , very interesting ! That was 47 years ago

I was after a ticket stub from The Peterborough away game in 1992. I got my shirt signed by Bliss on the America trip so be great if I could get that stub or even a copy for my frame. I missed the game that day but was back at GP to celebrate ?. Be great if anyone could assist. Thanks

I have the same, from 1976 to 1985. Then it stopped! lol

Nice to look back at them. ??

Secretary of Bees United. Also involved in looking after the heritage collection - and many more donations- that Brentford FC passed on to BU to be custodians of.

I have just got back to Brentford, as i’ll be watching the game tomorrow.
I always thought i had a standing ticket? I don’t! lol I have two tickets for the seats in A block, the visitors section.

can anyone here remember if tickets were given for those who were standing? I’m sure they were!? If so, my ticket may have gone with my programme collection when i sold it all off!!?

be interested to know if others remember…. Thanks

IIRC I thought that they kept that terrace free to put Bees that were in the home ends - there were lots of them!

The enclosure below the seats, yes, i think it was. The seats were for away fans.

Lovely to see those Peterborough tickets. I turned up and paid on the day to get in the Home end - no ticket and not even a programme - sold out (I now have one) - I bought a Peterborough pennant as a souvenir - still have it. What a day!

5,000 officially, is the figure I have in my ever fading memory, plus numerous that got led around from the home end.

4,100 ticket allocation officially. I don't know why I remember that so clearly after 33 years, but I do. Unofficially, judging by the numbers who were transferred across to the away end and, allowing for some who must have gone undercover for the entire game I reckon about 5,000 would be a fair estimate.
