A Greg Dyke statement is like one of Red Ken's London Buses.
You wait weeks for one and wish you hadn't bothered as you got mugged (off) again!
I have seen some flat, inauspicious and incapable ***** in my time at GP but this guy............:looks: COAT:cutthecrap: :grey:

Message from Greg Dyke

Please don't give these two people any additional money to spend.
Please save it for someone who knows what they are doing.

Message from Greg Dyke

TB certainly talks a good game, but it's on the pitch where it ****ing matters !

Message from Greg Dyke

thats more like it.

they do have lists of players that they would like to sign and they spend a lot of time scouting and talking to agents and other clubs about players. The Board are looking at how they can make additional monies available for the January transfer window so that these players can be signed, played out of position and generally demotivated by mind numbing confusing tactics.

lol

So true. Every manager wants to strength their squad but Terence hasn't demonstrated that he has the ability to improve any new signing when/if they do arrive. Of all the signings that he has made so far, I can't think of one player that has 'improved' under his guidance. If they have improved under him and they're still not good enough for this level then I would have some sympathy (sort of).

Nevermind, throw the dice again Terence and lets see formation number 23 this Saturday. It is sad to say that there's no more deserving candidate to have a large 'L' stamped on his forehead than Terry Butcher.

Message from Greg Dyke

I am sorry, but I aint putting up with this incompetent fool for a minute longer. Surely there has to be a mass protest on Saturday win, lose or draw. Problem is, if we win, the whole of Griffin Park will have forgotten the mess we are in and leave things as they are for a few matches. Some fans are very, very fickle.

Dyke really needs to go for the good of the club otherwise LR will be a waste of time as we will be languishing in the bluesquare or lower!!!

Message from Greg Dyke

It may be a little late in comming but the statement puts us in the picture re their view of TB. We may disagree with his conclusions but actually if people bother to read what he says I think it is a pretty constructive response to recent issues.

Message from Greg Dyke

Have i missed something? What is Dyke referring to Terez & Mascherano for-surely we weren't trying to sign them.Or is simply an excuse for not investing in the product

Message from Greg Dyke

I don't agree with the conclusions, but it's good that a statement has come out, and probably better to judge the manager over a few games rather than one (though TB has had enough chances IMHO). I'd say a minimum of 9 points from the next 5 games to keep our hopes of staying up alive.

I hope that, behind the scenes, we are checking out possible new managers as, if we only get 2 points from the 5 remaining 2007 games, we need to get the new mgr in urgently

I agree with the previous poster: where do Tevez and Mascherano fit in? Were we hoping to fill the squad with Argentinians?

lol You need to have an in depth knowledge of the GPG over the last 6 months to get that one. Benham was putting money in for young players but there was going to be some percentage of any transfer fee due back to him if we ever sold the player. The Tevez affair clouded the issue over joint ownership and the money never appeared.

Not sure that changing Butcher would be right, unless we have the ideal candidate already lined up. I would have thought however, that given the positive news today. With knowledge that financial stability is just around the corner and our ability then to progress,.would make the position of being the Manager of BFC a far more attractive propostion than it has been of late.

Message from Greg Dyke

at least he spoke

Well at least the chair of the board has spoke to us about what is happening.

We may not be that impressed by the message but it is an attempt to keep us all better informed.

What is the baord doing about the current situation;

1. Looking at ways of getting more money in.
2. Improving communications with us.
3. They are not convinced that a change of management team would make much difference based on what happened last season and evidence from what happens generally with a change of manager.
4. Had a full and frank discussion with the manager about current performances. (But see 3 above)
4. And from the Fortress Brentford article asking us to be more supportive and vocal. Hard when we keep losing but I guess we can only try.

So looking on the bright side in January we will be able to get some new players in that will help us stay in the league probably managed by Butcher.

Let's hope we don't lose tomorrow as by January we could be at the bottom of the table still managed by Butcher with Dyke as Chair.

Let's have a great day tomorrow and go home happy for a change.

Ade

Next Season

It doesn't actually say that. The club can't say he's done badly and the next few results will determine his future.

We'll see, one way or the other!

From what I have seen so far of his management style and ability in terms of team selection, tactics, player positions , motivation and relationship with the supporters, I went out today and bought The Supporter's Guide to Non -League Football for 2008 because that's where I think we will be playing after May next year. I wonder what the investment return for a new stadium at Lionel Road will be for a club in the Blue Square Conference League ?

I just love the way Dyke suddenly makes his first statement/contact to the fans since Cheltenham just when the protests have begun. Bit strange that?

He is playing the fans and unfortunately most of them will swallow it I am afraid and let the inept ****** continue for longer and allow us to plunge into the NL.

Message from Greg Dyke

I get the impression that Dyke told TB that his communication levels with the fans were not up to scratch and needed to improve at which point the pot in the corner turned to the kettle and said "Black".

Seems about right.

"they told us that with a 1 million pound playing budget they could get us to mid table"

So they're not delivering on their promises then!

i do agree that we need some stability but to do that you have to have some confidence in your management team.i just don't have any belief in butcher and scott and judging by the fans around me at games that seems to be the general feeling.
if we do make more money available in January does anyone think we should give it to these two to spend????
we really can't afford to throw any more money down the drain!
i know some people on here are saying that anyone wanting us to lose to Grimsby isn't a real fan etc. but in the long run if it gets rid of Butcher maybe it will be for the best in the long run.
I'd really like him to succeed but i just can't see it.He hasn't made a single decent signing imo so its no surprise that our team is f@@king useless!
i can take losing if you can see some hope for the future or if we had one or two youngsters that had real potential but i just can't see anything to feel positive about.

I presume he was talking about where we finish at the end of the season, rather than where we are in December.

Message from Greg Dyke

question:

if we have, say, 70k - 100k to ínvest´ would you rather:

a) pay off butcher and scott

or

b) sign two or three players and pay their wages.

answers please.

surprise, surprise i would go for b.

Message from Greg Dyke

Pay them off as I have seen enough of them. At Macclesfield we layed down and died whilst the management changed nothing, sorry they threw Heywood up front for 10 minutes. We have continued to lay down and surrender whilst the clueless duo stare out supporters who tell them that they are crap.

but we are well below mid table and getting worse!
maybe they meant mid table of the conference!

I am not surprised by your choice as its perfectly obvious from your posts on GPG that you live in cloud cuckoo land.

Computers in the homes for the crimminaly insane is a brave step, but I fear it is backfiring.

Well the stick he got coming out of GP tonight was unbelievable.

People chasing him down the street..........

Bit sad though to chase him down the street. Still, if you are gonna come out and smirk at an angry mob trying to make their feelings clear about the shocking state of this club...

DYKE OUT please!!!!

That's exactly what he did as well. I think the group went on the chase because they felt like they were having the piss taken out of them. Most notably, he appeared to decline to speak to the protestors who quizzed him on the way out.

As I mentioned to a couple of others, even Noades came to the balcony and spoke, even if it was just to sneer. If there was a fire in a building housing both Ron and Greg, I would still pull Greg out first. When it comes down to it, he just seems a bit of a coward to be felt sorry for. He had a fairly high status (with me as well) on leaving the BBC, now I am starting to realise the bloke is a failure everywhere he turns up.

I'm not criticising Dyke for a while after the LR announcement last week....
