Anyone remember him? A bright 18 year old prospect for City back in 2006, now released after about 45 appearances for City in six and a half years.

yeah just saw that. he was quality at one point - seemingly unlucky with injuries...

A bod I know that works at Leicester FC said he was pony when on loan. It's a shame as he really did look the nuts at one point.

Looking at how he has pissed his career away, i'm sure his money will be next.

Can't believe what he looks like now, if you didn't tell people that was him, nobody would think it was.

Was going to comment they are around the same age. Does Shay have any Joey Barton stories? Now there's a real yes yes bopp bopper.

No he never had any trouble with Barton, but Shay is not one to take the idiotic things he used to try on young players I think thats enough said

This is very sad. This boy looked the real deal for a whole. Regardless of injuries how did he end up in such an overweight unfit position ? A lot of young players who overplay at a very young age go through a period obinjuries in their wary twenties (such as Gerrard and Walcott) that thy end up growing though as long as they stay generally fit. He looks as though he would struggle in a Sunday league side!

When the injuries started mounting up, he spent too much time out with his mates in Manchester, drinking. City supporters would regularly see him (and still do probably, sadly) and want to say something. He's not partial to a load of takeaway junk either. He barely played any football between the end of 2009 (his last appearance for City), apart from his loan stint at Leicester, though I did hear he was playing and scoring for City's reserves last season.

I think he has been in and out of rehab for mental illness....which is a terrible shame.
Hopefully he can get himself in a place to start enjoying life again.

It's a shame how this has turned out for him and you can only wish him all the best as he picks his life up.
It just goes to show how injuries that crop up can finish a pro footballers career like it has his and the what might have been for him is enough to tip him over the edge to depression.

He was a good footballer there is no doubting that and he heads an ever increasing list of young talent that is lost to the game as there are many more like him around.
