I’d be surprised if Arsenal aren’t in for him this summer

Michael Kayode

He can have a restful summer then, which, given the miles that he has run this season, can be no bad thing.

But he should have made the Italian squad without any question. Their bad.
Italy seem unable to move forward from their basic concept that defenders defend, and after that, they defend some more. They cannot conceive of situations like the RB weaving across the pitch to LW without lessening the position, or rampaging up the middle in support of the attack.
Unless there is a change in mindset, I can see MK’s international blossoming being limited.

Michael Kayode

Not in the top 6 for the PFA Young Player of the Year.

Both Max Dowman and Rio Ngumoha have been nominated despite playing barely 1000 minutes between them this season.
I like him, and I’m also glad that he’s under the radar. I expect him to make a giant cock-up, yet he runs 40 odd yards with the ball at his feet which leaves me with a smile on my face. That or a last ditch tackle.

Ridiculous decision but typical. If Michael was at a top six Club, they'd be all over him.

Extract about throw in protocols from the new IFAB law (2026/27 season);

Procedure

When the referee determines that a throw-in… …is being deliberately delayed by the team taking the restart:
•  The referee may use their whistle and/or voice to indicate that the player should hurry up/not delay the restart.
•  To start the five-second countdown (which may start without the above cue) the referee will:
• blow the whistle • signal clearly with their hand/arm for the restart to be taken
• visually count down from five seconds with a raised hand; this visual countdown may be accompanied by a verbal countdown where appropriate
•  If the ball is not in play at the end of the five-second countdown, the referee will:
• award the throw-in to the opposing team, to be taken from the same position as the original throw-in.

>>

The emphasis is on whether the thrown in being taken is being deliberately delayed, not how soon the ball has to be in play.

So providing Michael (or any other player) is showing that there is intent to set up for the throw and execute it within a reasonable time there shouldn’t be any change from what we have seen in previous seasons. The exception is most likely going to be those situations where there is a handover of the ball to another player which could be construed as delaying the game.

Hopefully a big f*** off, I’ve done what’s best for my client for his agent to answer calls with.

We’ve tied down one of the most promising full backs in world football for another 6 years. This is ridiculously good business.

It’s also something that should form part of the conversation with prospective signings. The best young players know their development is best met at BFC.

or .....

We've protected ourselves from him leaving for a low fee in the future.

Release clause?
Nobody knows, but he's probably got a significant pay rise for signing the new deal, the previous deal was already to 2030 + 1 year option.

I doubt we'd have offered him more money at the same time as weakening our negotiating position if someone came in for him. So I reckon no special release clause.

Michael Kayode

Where have you seen this?
Wasn't there some talk recently that there's a global mandate that all contracts have release clauses?

Wasn't there some talk recently that there's a global mandate that all contracts have release clauses?
"FIFA has announced that buyout clauses will become a mandatory requirement in all professional player contracts. This system, which has been a staple of the Spanish game for decades, will now be enforced globally to ensure the free movement of players and prevent clubs from holding talent against their will through exorbitant, non-negotiable price tags.

The decision follows the landmark Lassana Diarra case, which highlighted deep-seated flaws in the previous Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP). By forcing both clubs and players to agree on a fixed release figure from the start of an agreement, the governing body, led by president Gianni Infantino, aims to reduce prolonged transfer sagas and legal disputes over valuation. These changes are scheduled to officially come into force on January 1, 2027."

Maybe a good time to get people locked in...

So a deal till summer 2033...meaning, with the option, he'll still have 3 years left on his deal even after playing 4 more years for us!
Sweeeeet.

Michael Kayode

Likelihood is that he'll be with us for another season, and we can still sell at top whack. Say £60 million for him? And his wages will have gone up, which will be rather motivating for him to stay at least one season with us.
Puts us in a strong position, which is what we're all about.

Agree although, Chelsea have just signed a RB for 50M. Without seeing him bet he is not as good as Kayode. If that is the case 60M is cheap in my book. But hey, whats not to like.
