I don't think he does tbh. You need a bit more finesse to be an effective winger. He is one hell of a full back though.

From the little I remember of Hickey and the little I’ve seen of Kayode, I’d say a fully match-fit Aaron is the better right back.

Probably the former. We have headroom anyway but Fiorentina may want any profit booked early and that could have been a condition of the option (ie it was an option to be activated in June). Wouldn't have bothered us if it was.

Hickey was certainly starting to build a relationship with Bryan ?

I much prefer watching Kayode though, he's not necessarily any better just a lot more fun ✅

Hickey is versatile, he might go out to the left if Henry doesn't recover his form which would free up KLP to go forward. He might also go into midfield? Which has been suggested since his early days that it might be final destination, playing as a 6.

Kayode is a fb/wb every day of the week. Hickey, though, has the potential to play elsewhere.

We're putting together a flexible and strong squad.

Happy to pick him up, it's a great price - but does have wayward positioning. He is very suspect to the flat pass in behind him, luckily he has the Kyle Walker attributes to cover it up.

Then the shocking miss from Guedes on Sunday, one player to mark in the box and Kayode was miles away from him. Need him to be more switched on, or be a tremendous asset going forward.

Thomas says he likes to find a system so he can play his best players. Think four of his better players are likely to be full backs.

I remember Hickey being a good player but he had a fair few yellows because he got turned a lot and had to pull back,especially when he played on the left.

Kayode probably had the weakest game so far against Wolves but was still good.Both of them are very young and have things to improve on so it's going to be a good competition between them to get that starting spot.

My money is on Kayode though.

Michael Kayode has signed for Premier League club Brentford from Fiorentina on a five-year deal, with a club option of an additional year. The defender initially joined the club on loan in January 2025 and has now signed on a permanent transfer.

I did read that the Fiorentina rightbacks,Dodo,contract talks have stalled and Barca have made enquiries.
No point in hanging about and hesitating over this transfer so we got him nice and early.
If Dodo does go to Spain then Fiorentina has no right backs at this moment in time.
