My only worry for him is that Italy don’t know what to do with him. At the U21 Euros, he was mainly a sub, and a couple of times ended up as a sort of DM/
Sweeper when they were chasing the game. When he did play RB, you could see he was holding back, presumably to instructions.
I hope the Italy Manager values his PL performances more than those in the summer tournament.

Kayode offers more than long throws​

The temptation with a player such as Michael Kayode is to overprioritise the aspect of the game at which he is exceptional, which is to say his long throws. But even without the prodigious distance he can hurl a ball, the 21-year-old Italian is an extremely promising full-back. He has the physicality and energy of the modern defender and, while it may be more chaotic than graceful, his dribbling style is effective. Again and again against Liverpool, his forward surges carried Brentford out of trouble and created opportunities. Sometimes he ended up on the left and never seemed entirely comfortable shooting with his left foot, but Kayode did play two important passes, two-thirds of his crosses found a Brentford player and he ended up with a passing accuracy of 87%. He has started every league game, allowing Kristoffer Ajer to move to the left, with Keane Lewis-Potter becoming an option off the bench. Jonathan Wilson

I think the Italians of the past like Baresi etc would be losing their sh*t watching Kayode go bombing off all over the shop !

He’s better as a full back who can be a wing back and get further forward.

He scares the sh*t out of me when he does this, but it comes with the territory, reminds me a bit of Danis Salmon in a way, he used to love to bomb all over the place too.

I don't worry what the Italians do, that is their problem. I don't want MK playing right back against Englands consistently weakest position.

What makes me laugh is how, when he bombs forward and eventually passes to a teammate, he doesn't head back to his position straight away but keeps going forward to create options. But even with that he's usually back in defence when needed.

And he goes across the field, creating an overflow on the left side. So many players would be cautious in terms of running so far out of position but he has no fear and an endless amount of energy.

He was great last season but I think has been even better this season by some margin. I think we need to ask, is that the influence of Andrews giving him more freedom to play how he wants?

It might not be their weakest position, so long as Rashford can resist the temptation to revert to being a big-headed tw*t until after next summer - apparently he's doing ok at Barca.

Either way, I'm quite happy if the Italians never pick him (or at least not for another while), since Brentford need him fresh and injury-free for ourselves.

Barca play in a pig farmers league, I wouldn't put any stock on Rashford replicating that average form for England.

So you're happy with him - but to thank him for what he is doing for you (and BFC) you want to deny him the immediate personal honour of playing for his country? Not to mention the extra kudos and potential transfer moolah that recognition would give the club.

Happy for the player if/when he does get capped soon, happy for BFC if it's not until after WC2026 (player would benefit from a proper off-season etc).

But hardly a "hill to die on" either way.

Same "pig farmers league" as eg Yamal, Bellingham and Mbappe? Maybe that disqualifies them from representing Spain, England and France, I suppose.

You are actually putting Bellingham and Mbappe in the same category as Rashford. Maybe, but only maybe, they have proven it at international level already, you know, the odd world cup final hat trick.

Like Duh!

What I'm saying is that if La Liga is good enough for Superstars like them, then it has to be good enough for lesser players like Rashford.

Meaning that whatever else you think about MR, it is pretty crass to disparage him on the basis that he's playing in a "Pig Farmers' League" [sic].

Not sure what the length of his contract is, but whatever it is I think he needs a new one with a lengthy extension in years as I can see a number of Premier League sides and European sides will be after him

The interesting thing seeing this and a couple of his cross field dribbles is quite how much space they’d vacated in midfield to enable it. I suspect they’d set up for us to bypass midfield by kicking it long and completely missed that Kayode regularly likes to do those runs and will back himself on them even where there is midfield defensive cover.

Yeah I'd probably put la Liga on a level playing field with the PL. You only need to look at whose won what over the years and that doesn't even include the national team 😳

With all the furore about our long throws and the time we take over them in the press this week, hope everyone has lumped on MK to get booked on Saturday? 😐
Just like when he got penalised for a foul throw the game after someone had questioned his technique in a BBC article a few weeks back.....

It's hard to imagine that Italy have two better right backs than our Mike. But it's almost impossible to imagine that Nigeria do, so if he's keen, he'd surely be a shoo-in.

Fair enough, I got it wrong on the Yellow card.
But we did get another knobby linesman who couldn't wait to get in on the action, and add fuel to the long throw debate, by deciding his first one needed to be overturned.....🙄
