I wonder if Her Majesty's Finest Media will ask Sven again why he only took four strikers to Germany and if it ever occured to him that one of them might get injured (especially as two of them were injured at the time of selection) and one of the others might miss his mummy.

For his sake, I hope Owen gets back to his best, but I suspect he will miss the whole of next season. How long is his Newcastle contract?

Michael Owen

Out for up to five months I heard.

Feel sorry for the bloke, but in his current form he's no great loss. In fact, if Defoe was sitting on the bench I'd see it as a blessing in disguise.

Sven, well you wouldn't expect any less of the bloke would you. He doesn't rate Walcott one little bit, otherwise we'd have seen him already. Sven picked the boy on what Wenger told him over the phone. What a ****.

What worries me is that over time these injuries will take their toll and he'll be less effective than before. If he loses his pace, he's in trouble. I hope not, 'cos he's seems a genuinely nice guy and has been one of my favourite players since that goal.

****ing stinker. :(

It's time to ditch Crouch whilst unleashing Gerrard just behind Rooney.

Credit where credit is due, Hargreaves played alright last night, so he can take up that position again for the Ecuador match.

I have my doubts that Rooney can play up top on his own though.

Oh and if any game was made for Walcott,it was last night. Why take him if you're not going to ****ing play him:(

If he has done his cruciate ligaments, I would be simply stunned if he's back in five months. Nine months is just about the minimum for this injury and twelve is more common.

Look at how long our players who got this injury were out for ...

Oli Skulasson - will be around 12 months if he's ready for the new season
Alex Rhodes - about ten months
Danny Boxall - about two years
Derek Bryan - about a year, although you could argue he never recovered at all

I hope he does, then goes on to beat England's all time goalscoring record:sorted:

While I very much hope I'm proved wrong, Owen's goals are based on pace and not on power or audacious ball skills. These types of injuries always cost a player pace. I don't think Greaves, Linacker or Charlton need worry about their places in all-time scorers.

I will agree that (1) it would be addition by subtraction if a fit and impatient DeFoe was coming into the team, (2) Sven has very possibly blown England's best chance in 30 years to win this tournament, (3) Rooney will have to figure out how to play with his back to goal in a 5-man midfield.

Well done, Svennis.

...retirement beckons.................

He'll never be the same player again

Someone said he seems a nice person - there's been allegations to the contrary

Why didn't Sven take Defoe or Bent - seems lunacy to me

Because Sven is sticking two fingers up to the FA and all England supporters. The players should hold a meeting and call for a vote of no confidence in Sven and let McLaren manage the rest of the campaign.
Sven is a cock and should be told to f**k off now.
