Been down the training today and noticed this guy (I think) down there. 6ft 9 striker, was on trial at Stoke and Rangers before they decided he wasn't good enough earlier in the season. He's been called the Nigerian Peter Crouch... not sure if that's a good thing but could be interesting.

A friend of mine supports Stoke and he was talking about this guy last month. They were supposed to sign him for 1.5 million but he had issues with Work Permit.

Michael Uchebo

Bee careful what you write on here about the training ground. We don't want Uwe banning fans from visiting.

If Stoke couldn't resolve his work permit issues, then how are we going to do that?

Just watched the video on Youtube. Looks too good to be true!

Can see from this why videos can be used by agent to 'sell' their players. Hopefully he is as good as he looks &, if so, we sign him.

He looks far too good for us ,not many headed goals either which you would not expect

With all due respect, why would this guy even think about coming here if he plays in the Dutch Eredivise, and is getting trials at prem and scottish prem clubs?

coz he should take the chance to better himself :)

Work permit issues did seem to be a concern but it never got that far with Stoke.

Possibly more likely to get selected to play, and therefore a work permit, for a League One side?

With comparatively little of the millions pumped into the club going into the playing squad (as demonstrated by our league and cup performances), perhaps a big lump and a direct strategy is the way forward for now....

:D

What's the deal with work-permits and loan deals? Would he still need one, or would it be much easier to get for a loan?

There's a logic for him coming on loan to us for the rest of the season, putting him in the shop window over here?

Michael Uchebo

Unless he plays for a team in England he can't join us on loan..

How come? Lots of Premier clubs have foreign players on loan so is it not allowed in the Football League? Must admit I can't think of anyone at our level having a foreign player on loan...

Michael Uchebo

You can during the transfer window. This loan window is not a fifa affiliated window.

So the only way we can sign him then is on a permanent deal (presumably, if he becomes a free agent). Good, because what is the point in loaning players before the end of this season now we're cast adrift from the play-offs? He might be worth a punt though a la Grella.

presumably the point is to keep challenging for the play offs? or because a few on here have given up everyone at the club and all the fans should as well? not me

It's not a case of giving up, it's a case of remembering we have a playing budget. If savings can be made, all the better. Maybe they could be held over to strengthen next season's campaign. I am thinking about the mid-term.

This season has been a massive disappointment, of which cup exits by Wrexham and Barnet comprise a symbol of. With that record, we should be realistic, that's all I'm saying.

how do you know its him?

Michael Uchebo

And at 22 he may well sell for a lot more if he proves himself... or become a failure at that price....

Michael Uchebo

6ft 7inch or 6ft 9in, either way wtf is he doing with us?

This 'I went to the training ground and I saw...' Game Lemontree has started is a great alternative to 'I went to the market and I bought...'

My go next...

I went to the training ground and I saw Michael Uchebo and erm, Jermaine Pennant,..

It's 6.30pm though and nobody has refuted it yet. But I wouldn't imagine any signing is likely. Too many question marks: price, salary, transfer windows etc.

Michael Uchebo

Yep. Maybe the original poster is the player himself...

However, and wait for this, I suspect this thread is M.Uchebo About Nothing...

Well, the defending in that video is pony but he's in there. If we can get him he will do well at league 1 level. Can't believe it will happen though.

We have a player on loan from a foreign club - Niall McGinn.

Very droll.
