On Radio 5 now talking about footballers handling depression. Coming across well.
I wonder how depressed Joe Allon was when he landed one on him.
I was on a coaching workshop where Mickey presented, he's now head of player welfare at the PFA. Lots of well articulated points about emotional and mental resilience needed by aspiring players and professionals.

Funnily enough, no.
People do move on, and from what I see and hear the PFA's player welfare is well thought of and valued.
Long time ago but didn't Allon have it coming?
Story I heard was Allon had been dishing out loads of stick to Bennett for yonks and yet when Bennett retorted and embarrassed Allon he lunged in with a dreadful tackle. Bennett got up and lamped him him - is that not true?
He could have done serious damage to his hand given Allons choppers !?Met Joe Allon once. Obnoxious and hateful both.

I heard it was because Allon was two-footing junior players in training...
Seeing as JA suffered the broken jaw it's safe to assume that The Good Doctor Bennett landed one on him. Can't remember. Did he hit Joe Allon or did Joe hit him? Which ever way a broken Jaw was involved iirc and a delayed start to the new season.
