All well and good with this catalogue of overseas players, but would have been nice to have retained some of the home-grown talent that we've let slipped over the last few years. Rebuild a team that will last longer then a few matches at the start of the season, before the next franchise calls.

Well, the hope lasted to lunchtime on day 1! An afternoon collapse (215-3 to 260 all out), followed by Lancs putting on 68* for the first wicket.

Middlesex 189 ahead with four wickets left. Excellent match for Max Holden, 135* after a 50 in the first innings. Could be a good finish?

Any recent developments with the idea of leaving Lords at some time? It would be a shame as it's great to wander around the place but, economically, a move probably makes sense.

Less than 12 months on Middx lease at Lord’s but they will hammer out an agreement. All cards with the MCC though. There seems to be a permanent mistrust between the two orgs. Not sure if that’s always been the case. Middx without Lord’s is the death knell but I would love a decent outground. All the current ones are pretty poor.

They seem to be going for it at least as long as this pair are together! (Balderson and Wells).

It was a great recovery from where Middlesex were initially. YouTube coverage was handy. Watch bits and pieces in the garden while mending fences, pruning trees etc.
Shame you cannot pay cash at the gate for county cricket now. Logging in and paying online deters casual visits. I suppose they save on ticket staff.
