We renewed, but seriously considered not doing so. Have heard plenty others haven't renewed and the membership numbers has taken a dive. Sadly, I can see Middlesex struggling to even exist in a couple seasons time.

First day if weekend double header in The Smoke with Bees v Everton the next day.

Middlesex have been sued for more than £1 million in their toxic dispute with their former chief executive.
A claim form filed by Richard Goatley in a lawsuit against the county shows he has been pursuing them for “damages for personal injuries sustained and financial losses incurred in the course of his employment” and as a result of their “negligence and/or breach of duty and subsequent harassment”. It goes on to state that he “expects to recover over £1,000,000”.
The document emerged almost a year after Telegraph Sport first revealed Middlesex’s bitter public row with Goatley had ended up in court and nearly 18 months since it laid bare explosive accusations relating to his time in charge of the county.
Middlesex have been sued for more than £1 million in their toxic dispute with their former chief executive.

Middlesex subsequently lodged a police complaint against their former chief executive over what they alleged was tens of thousands of pounds in “unauthorised payments” by him into his bank account and one other account. Goatley left the club in the summer of 2021 after suffering a suspected stroke during an online meeting.
In a statement released in February, the Metropolitan Police said that “no criminal offences could be identified” following “a thorough and detailed assessment” of alleged fraud offences that were “complex”. They added: “The case will be reopened should further investigative opportunities become available.”
Goatley responded in a statement reported by The Guardian: “The police have confirmed no offence was made. This news is welcome and comes as no surprise to me. I have always maintained my innocence.
“Middlesex filed a police complaint against me three years after I had left the club, upon receiving notice of my High Court claim against them. I now wish to focus on my civil claim against Middlesex.”
The county made no comment about the police’s decision, instead releasing a statement announcing that they had recovered £100,000 in payments to Goatley from an unnamed bank and insurance company.
“Middlesex County Cricket Club is pleased to confirm that, after a lengthy and challenging process, the club has successfully recovered £100,000 that was identified as having been incorrectly paid to their former CEO Richard Goatley,” they said. “This comprised £57,000 of unauthorised cheques paid into Richard Goatley’s bank account and a further £43,000 of ineligible payments made into his pension fund.
“We are grateful to the bank and insurance company involved in ensuring that these payments were refunded to the club. We have no comment to make on the decision that the Metropolitan Police have reached and their reasoning for doing so.”
Goatley has always denied misappropriating funds and his family complained to the England and Wales Cricket Board about the county’s handling of the matter, which his lawyer at the time said would bankrupt them and make them homeless.
Middlesex denied any wrongdoing in their pursuit of the money.
The row is linked to a financial crisis at the club that led to them being sanctioned by the ECB for “mismanagement”, the alleged full extent of which was laid bare in 2023 by Telegraph Sport.
Middlesex were first plunged into turmoil more than four years ago with the discovery of an error in pensions payments that ended up costing the county a six-figure sum and compounded losses triggered by the coronavirus crisis.
Middlesex declined to comment when approached by Telegraph Sport. Goatley could not be reached for comment.
