Middlesex FA County Side

Ashley Cheatley has been chosen to represent Middlesex FA in the County Championship in a game against Jersey this Wednesday evening.
There's a few familiar names in that side from some of our opponents this season. Surprised no other Bees were chosen, but I've no idea how the selection for these sort of things work? I'm not sure how Farnham Town falls under the Middlesex FA jurisdiction?

The Farnham player was probabbly born in Middlesex or played for the county prior to joining Farnham.

I think in the past the squad has predominantly been made up of Ashford Town and Denham United players

You would think Logie would get a call up not least because of her age and club but because she scores a shed load of goals. A proven striker ! Middlesex FA something stinks in your selection process or is it a mates rates thing.

Three of the players were at Ashford last season, including the Farnham player. Four more (I think one may not be showing at the top of that photo?) are current Ashford players. The squad seems to be selected from a pretty narrow base.

How many are current Brentford players?

Logie scores all those goals last season and doesn't get a look in, what would be interesting is Brentford v Middlsex

Shame I didn't know about this earlier, I might have tried to pop along.

I still wonder how these sides are chosen and what some of our non-Ashford alumni need to do to get a callup?

I'd imagine the Middlesex FA selects a coach or two coaches from the relevant league and asks them to select a squad.
They probably do this by selecting their best players, then asking around the league for other club's best players to fill the squad. Or they pick players who have played well against their own clubs.

Agreed. Just curious to see what you thought, if you'd gone. Middlesex were good value. Started out quite even, but the away side started to exert control midway through the first half and were dominant by the end. Two good GKs on display. Would have been a more substantial victory but for the Kent stopper who thwarted Cheatley on a number of occasions. Arse end of the universe and a very, shall we say, traditional pitch, complete with slope, undulations and bobbles.

Pitstop at Clackett Lane gave them just enough time to close M25 before we got to Reigate, upon return. Crazy long diversion resulted in late one! Attendance unknown. No chaps, but plenty blazers!
