Monty Panesar

Couldn't find a previous thread so mods please merge if one does exist. A fascinating interview below with arguably the best modem era left arm spinner this country has produced, focusing primarily on Monty's near terminal mental health struggles following the media criticism he received in the mid-late stages of his career. This was largely pre tw_atter so scary to think how things might have ended up if he were in the same situation today. Hence a cautionary tale if ever there were one for the modern day keyboard warrior. Constructive feedback should never be discouraged but nailed on our young heroes read their player threads on here so any expert advice should always be very carefully worded before posting. Or not posted at all.

Wise words BB. Will look forward to watching the interview later. Thanks.

Got to love Monty......

I found the last 1/3 tough to watch. It's a guy who was clearly affected by comments from a fellow international spinner that has worked hard to battle back from that.

I remember when he made his England debut and him being this former university player making his way to the international stage. We sometimes forget the lack of emotional maturity these players have when they are thrust into an international spotlight.
