Yes it is rubbish that we are in league two and that it is a yard slower.
Good post, liked your use of facts, opinion and persuasive subjective argument to get your point across.

Is league two really slower than league one?
What fact did you use to base this on?;)

To be honest I dont think it is slower this season.

I never said it was based on fact.
However fitness and performance/skill levels improve as a general trend up the divisions as opposed to down.
Would you rather face an Accrington counter attack or an Arsenal one or even a Scunthorpe one?
The extra touch and time players need at this level general slows up play just wait and see this season.
There are only a handleful of players with proprotionate skill and pace in this divison such as Knight and Easter.
What i've done here is called an explaination, where i support my opinion with theories and supporting thoughts and even the odd fact.

I not saying he isn't faster, leaner, meaner etc Ronan, but the context has to be considered.
I forgot you had a speedometre to hand during that mansfield game.
He will have more freedom to do said running, (i feel sprinting is an exaggeration) when he has less shadowing/man marking/ closing down against better players.
Why can't you accept this Ronan

Mousinho

Notts County are great:rolleyes: or so I'm told. They had Matty Somner in midfield and we had Mous, who would you have wanted in your team?:D

Keep up the good work John.

Mousinho

There is a Mourinho at Chelsea, we have Mousinho and Falkirk have Moutinho...gosh

There are a fair number of Moronhos in the PB thread too :fishing:

I thought a weak point last season for Mousinho was he slowness and quick midfielders would run straight through are midfield and run right by him. Hopefully that won't carry on this season. League 1 is probably quicker in terms of the quality of football can be played at a higher tempo.

Mousinho

I will hold my hands up. I was probably the most critical post on this forum over Mousinho as i felt last year bad team or not he was awful.I will retract everything i have said as in the first 2 games he has been outstanding and i hope it continues. Well done John and lets hope it`s not a 5 minute wonder.

2 games is 180 minutes, so it's not.

Mousinho

And of course you did have a 'speedometre' ??????

What's your point:confused:
I never claimed to know how fast Mousinho was, i have observed that league 2 is played at a lower tempo to league 1 and that league two's pace may suit Mousinho more allowing him time and space he lacked last season.

I think it's a bit stupid hoping a holding midfielder has got faster as that's not a massive asset for that position compared to vision, tackling, stamina and strength.
Maybe that would account for my lack of speedometre

Samba football down in this division innit :D :sorted: Let's get an Olé chant going while we run rings around Barnet's heavy foulers tomorrow.

Mousinho

He's probably the most improved player so far this season, his commitment it 100% and his all round game is just getting better, If he keeps making progress I can see him easily making it at a higher level...

he was very good against mansfield and not bad against notts

Mousinho

One swallow does'nt make a summer.
No, but it makes for a great evening :D :sorted:
Really though, from what we've seen so far, Mous and KoC are taking to the new management team's motivations. Shame PB hasn't, but that's a problem for TB and AS to iron out, preferably by showing him the door. Bad apples and all that. I'd be very surprised if JM and KoC haven't tried to bring him out of himself, but there's obviously more to the PB thing than meets the eye, a bit like Transformers except PB turns into a cack-footed wallflower instead of a robotic goal machine.

Mousinho

Spoke to John at the Training Ground today - He is desperate to get his first goal for Brentford - Told him not to worry - He will get 2 this Saturday.

Almost a perfect prediction there. Delighted for Mousinho to score his first goal for the Bees. Deserved a goal for last seasons and this seasons performances. Could be the spark to lift him to another level.

Mousinho

I haven't seen anyone mention him yet as a potentially saleable asset but it seems to me he's moving towards that status? Does the way in which he moves around the pitch not remind anyone else of Steven Gerrard? Could do with being a bit more accurate with his passing though.....

+1

Errrrrrrrm Dont get carried away with JM yet. Alwite? Good Lad

Mousinho

yeh i would quite like to keep him for the moment. too much experience of BFC selling our decent players and letting us rot.

Who Gerrard?

Mousinho

I agree with Mark.

I remember his first real decent game against Sunderland, which was not typical of him at the time

....he improved last year, and I hope he keeps improving....it can only be good news for the Bees if he does.

He's a worker not a shirker

Wrong Smiffy:nono: :nono: he had a super game against Gillingham..............in goal

Mousinho

That day where he collected the -1 was the day he showed me what a good player he was going to be. A very good Scunny team took us apart and he had a stormer.

Was good that day as well we got plastered and still got a draw rofl

Mousinho

I thought he was cack last season he worked hard but his passes went more often than not to the opposition or, out of play. He looks like hes knuckled down over preseason and has added a lot of pace to his game giving him an extra second or two to measure up a pass. Also, his work rate is very impressive as hes always involved in breaking up an attack or supporting one. With an creative hard midfielder (Aspinall-esque). Wed have a really good centre midfield that would win most battles in this league. Got to hand it to the boy, he could have done a Brooker but hes taken his stick and hes won a lot of people over.

Mousinho

I think he can read a game really well as yesterday he read a few Barnet passes and intercepted them before they got to the player he looks faster and sharper than most and it is still the begining of the season!

Mousinho

Was this the same player who ballooned a cross into the stand, gave away the ball in dangerous areas twice in a couple of minutes, was often chasing shadows in midfield and had the comedy moment of the match when he chested down a high ball, controlled it, looked around to pick his pass and then slotted it off for a Barnet throw under no pressure at all??

I'm obviously not the only one who's confused as Andy Scott was screaming at a Mousinho for most of the match... maybe it's his brother????? I can't wait to see this Steven Gerrard-alike player we've got waiting in the wings..

No-one has said he plays like Steven Gerrard, just that he runs like him. Not that hard to understand the difference, is it? His name sounds like the name of the Chelsea manager, but no-one is suggesting that means he's good enough to steer two teams to the Champions League title, are they?

As someone close to me on Saturday said, he could be our version of Steven Gerrard if he continues to develop. ;) :sorted:

Has Mourinho steered two teams to the Champions League title then?

was also the same player who scored the winning goal, made countless runs back and forth up the field and at one stage was the furthest man forward, chased all the way back to make a challenge on the edge of our box in the 2nd half, Mousinho may not be the most gifted of players but at the moment he has to be 1st man on the team sheet

I'm pretty sure he said he could be our version... not he plays like Steven Gerrard... for us, our Gerrard would be someone who's all action, all effort and a fan favourite... which he appears to be :sorted:

:imwith: If you forget all this Gerrard nonsense, I see a player working hard at his game, honest enough not to hide when he makes mistakes who is improving in the areas where he's weak. I'll forgive any player the occasional balls up if they show that kind of attitude.

Mate, you really need to get out more... chill out a little FFS! You're really beginning to come across as a total arse! :D

Fair enough, personally I'd much rather have Smith in the holding role and Moore further forward in the role that Mousinho's playing at the mo.. but it's all about opinions ain't it??

Mousinho

I agree with the Cynical one. Mous rose like a phoenix from the flames after having a total nightmare for 60 minutes, he and KOC were given the old runaround but they both stuck at it and became matchwinners. Mous finished the game on fire and although he balls up that cross so badly in the first half let us not forget the run and cross in the 2nd when all were flaking around him and where Poole should have controlled and scored.

Mousinho

I don't think anyone can fault his stamina or his workrate, though his skill still leaves a lot to be desired and I doubt if we'll ever see him spraying the ball around. But he has got into attacking positions this season, and it was good to see him get some reward with his first goal for us.

If we are to judge him in Bees terms, I think it would be against someone like Eddie Hutchinson. Last season, I would have said Hutch (on his previous form, I know he wasn't with us last season) seemed the better player as he was an attacking threat, though unable to pass a ball to save his life. Mousinho may now be moving ahead as he is adding that attackign aspect to his play

Excellent post LB, well said.

Mousinho

he slightly reminds me of sinton when he first joined us and before he was moved out wide?
?????????

Explain, Andy Sinton was an attacking midfielder who could play wide and JM is neither similar in appearance, style, ability or anything so far as I can see.

I like Mousinho, think he has a great attitude and work ethic, IMHO he's maturing rapidly into a good league 2 player. I hope he continues to improve and eventually becomes a ball winning, midfielder who can also pick his passes and is capable of playing at a higher level.

Mousinho

Mousinho lacks skill but is one hell of an athelete, possibly due to his time in america. for me he's still too slow to get going in games but you can see as others start to tire john grows stronger and quicker. personally i think john is let down by not having an experienced centre mid at the club to learn from.

 From memory Sinton nearly always played out wide. Didn't we have Kamara and Hurlock when he signed? :fishing:

Mousinho

I'm pleased for Mousinho, it looks like he's finally settling into a role he's happy with and he looked full of confidence after he got the goal. Great attitude and work rate, if he keeps improving he'll be an asset this season, could be a big player.

Agree with the Gerrard style of running, but you wouldn't see Mousinho missing games if he hurt his toe...

Sinton started as a wide right sided midfield player, but Perryman switched him to the left, where being basically right footed (he could use his left though), he was extremely dangerous when cutting inside the defence.

Mousinho

Can i just say comparing the Mous and Gerrard is one of the funniest things i've ever heard in the world EVER lol

Comic genius :D

agreed. might be the silliest thing ever

Mousinho

I think the comparison with Sinton is hardly any more credible than that with Gerrard: Sinton had skill and decent pace. Good luck to Mousinho though; if he works hard and develops further, he deserves to succeed.
