My Dad.

This morning at 7am I got a phone call from my brother informing me that my Dad had passed away.
He had cancer that had spread from the spine to the brain and eventually everywhere else that finally his body just shut down. He was 82.Me mum, who is 80,had taken care of him for the last 14 weeks all day and everyday.
This is the man I pestered to take me too Griffin Park until he finally gave in and walked with me through the turnstiles for a lifetime of support.
He was a good man who enjoyed his life.
He was at times a proper laugh and I always enjoyed a beer, a coffee and just time with him
On many occasions we would not see eye to eye on issues, but we agreed to disagree.
I was a pain, an embarrassment and at times the polar opposite of him.
He could walk away he told me, but not me.I found that hard.
Maybe he was right, maybe I was too.
RIP Dad.
Thanks.
One regret?
I wish I had known you better than I did.

Your dad and your relationship sounds just like me and my dad.
My only advice is get to know everything you can about your dad through your mum. I didn't and now it's to late.

Take care.

My Dad.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Sometimes the right words are hard to find, but somehow you've found them. It sounds in many ways as though you're describing all of the best of our own Dads. 'Cos what he did is what Dads do.

My Dad.

How very sad for you and my heart goes out to you and your family. May he rest in peace now.

Do you know that I'm your story rings true with so many of us. Dads taking us to a packed GP on our bikes and parking them for 1d in Clifden Road with dozens of others.

Mind you he got fed up with them and in the end (circa 1978) said if they played on his front lawn he'd pull the curtains!

Sadly, he also passed away many years ago and so, he could only have dreamed of our recent few years of wonderful football and eventual promotion to League Division 1 (in his day of course)

You also hit the nail on the head with your regret. For those of you that can get to know your Dad better. You only really have one Dad so make the most of it because there comes a time when it really is too late to ask him so many things.

Very sorry to hear this, feel for you. I think your words sum up many father and son relationships, I can certainly see many very similar points that you raise that I could say about my father when he was alive.

RIP

My Dad.

RIP sir.

Condolences to you and your family hb.

My Dad.

My condolences Horsham.

I had many times like that with my Father. I too wish I could have been closer to him. The song 'The Living Years' is very close to me. All that said I am sure your Father loved you and would be proud of you and the support of our great club that he helped you with.

Take time to talk to your Mother about your Father. I am sure it will help both of you.

May your Father rest in peace free of suffering of his illness. God Bless

My Dad.

Your father gave you one of the best life memory experiences you will have for life - a walk with him through the turnstiles at Griffin Park.
Sending you best wishes and condolences at this difficult time.
