How bout Andy Myers, he is a Hounslow Lad released by Bradford, and has played for Chelsea (Spit spit) he would make a great left back for us! Especially if Ijah goes.... Talking of old players, not a bad idea but do we really want to build another Dads army....having said that Armstrong released by Spurs may be of some use......

I think we will have to loan again this season get hold of some bit players like Nardello from UTD. Was that Cadimetri any good? apparntly he been released by Bradford too!

Old players are in general not the answer, but one who would put 2k on the gate and add to BFC general media exposure might be worth having, we could pay them by giving them a % of the extra gate revenue, we budget for 4,500 we get 6,000 = 1500 at average £8 per head (lots of £2 remember) = £12k we keep 50% they get 50%. In my opinion we both win. Could this be done, Burnley did it with Ian Wright.

Two spring to mind immediately: Gazza & Wise, anymore?

Also short term cover for centre back, what about Keith Millen, could he still do a job?

its mainly for that reason (the extra revenue) that we could do one of the Dads Army....Gazza, Wise , Donkey Adams, Armstrong, Steffen Schwarz (released by Sunderland)

I think it's definitely worth having a couple of old heads in the squad especially this season when we're going to be playing a lot of youngsters. A little more experience last season might have helped us go that little bit further..

I still reckon Andy Sinton's the answer! According to Graham Taylor he can play at left back as well...

Agree some old boys will help! What ever happened to Blisset after we sold him to Wimbledon? if anything is a good omen I have just got Brentford promoted to Div one in Champioship manager after 2seasons in Div2!! (including a play off defeat!)

I saw Andy Myers play for Chelsea pre season Vs. Brentford a few seasons ago. Thought he ran the show for them and was very impressed with him.

A name that I hadn't considered is Dennis Wise. That would be a major coup for the club (even tho he is of course a nutter!). Wonder is Wally can pull any "crazy gang" strings? :)

Didn't he go off to Malaysia for a while??

He did come back to GP few seasons back while on loan at Crewe. I remember standing on Ealing Road watching him miss when it was easier to score.

I still like to think that he missed beacuse of his time previously with us.

Bliss was living in Germany. He was in vetrans 6 as side competition on Euro sport a year or so back representing England with Woodcock & Mariner and few names. Bliss actually played in goal after the original keeper got injured in 1st match and his brilliant keeping helped get them to the final. :eek:

If you're gonna start throwing names up in the air, then Lee Sharpe is up for grabs... for a mere £7k a week. (And he wonders why he hasn't found a club yet...).

Time for a quick reality check people. If a player was on £10k a week or more there is no way that they will choose to join us for £26k per annum. Leaving aside the fact that London is probably the most expensive city to live in in Europe, I'd imagine that all of these players will be thinking that it may be worth holding out for a while in the hope of getting a better offer. Even if the offer was only £2k per week, it would still only take them 6 months to earn the same amount as it would take 2 years to earn here. Expect to see most of the big earners either hold out for when wages start to rise a little or try to organise a deal abroad in a place which hasn't been thrown into financial turmoil this summer (Greece/Turkey/Portugal??).

Having said we can't afford anybody that was on anywhere near £10k a week or more in the past, we may stand a chance of signing some of those who were in the £2-4k per week bracket before, especially if we can give them some sort of escape clause in their contract. I'd guess that would give us access to the sort of player that were solid first teamers at this level or lesser lights at first division level, presumably the type of players Fullerton and Roget would be classed as. If the purse strings are opened enough to sign 3 or 4 of those to replace the departed players we probably wouldn't be much worse than we were last season if we are lucky with our loans.

Andy Myers has got a/used to have?? a house in Isleworth - just off Thornbury Road. When he lived there he was playing for Chelsea and didnt have an extravagant life style by football standards, he used to spend a lot of the time polishing his bmw.

You never know, he may be missing Hounslow (unlikely though it seems) and be itching to get back.
