Nail biting

Having supported Bees for 33 years, I used to think that I had had my fair share of nail biting, however after today I am down to my knuckles!!

I spent the day watching my 8 year old son playing in his first and hopefully one of many football tournaments at Rushden and Diamonds along with 59 other kids teams from Middx, Beds, Bucks, Lancs, Cheshire, Worcester, Gloucester, Cambs, Herts, Northants, Oxford and Liverpool.

A good day, great entertainment and some talented kids.

Even spotted another kid with a Bees shirt - good lad.

No winner because of their age group, they were there to have fun and enjoy themselves.

My son plays in goal, and for his first proper games, conceded only 8 goals in 5 matches, not bad when you think other keepers were letting in 5 or 6 per game.

Who knows, possibly another Smudger in the making, I'm off to the bookies!!!!

I'm hoping to get my lads into something like that when they've reached the right age. At the moment though my eldest who's nearly 4 has shown more interest in tennis than anything else!




It's worrying but I'm hoping to be able to beat it out of him.

Bees shirt @ Rusheden

The Boy wearing the BEES shirt at R+D on Sunday was my lad! he was also spotted in a skeggy bar the previous evening!!!
Ha Ha! I'm just a dad dutifully showing his son the meaning of life!
My daugher U8's was playing in the tournament.
My son (BFC shirt) plays U11's next year for Hillingdon Saints FC.

Watching your kids play football is wonderful. But it has its ups and downs (sound familiar?). My son is 15 and their team North Kingston Colts are undefeated in the Guildford and Shere league this season. Yesterday they were 3:0 down after 15 minutes but fought back to win 5:3 and my son scored the first for us. A few years ago it was a different story in Kingston Little League when he was in a team that lost badly every week. I used to dread Saturday mornings!

My lad was playing for Old Stratford (Milton Keynes), like Brentford they also lacked punch up front and only scored 1 goal.

Heck who cares, they enjoyed themselves and had immense fun.

Also saw some great goal celebrations, especially from 8 year olds, clenched fists, sliding on knees, shirts off.

Was he the young lad in the O'Connor 9 shirt? It was good to see so many Bees in Skeggy!

Yep that was him! We left at 7 - 30 am to get to R+D by 9 am.

P.S, My son played all games on pitch 15.

My daughter played for Slough Irish 'B' on pitch 15 ( the curly dark haired one) as opposed to her blonde haired friend who also played.
