'nana Gloat

Thats pretty much it, good result :)

not many tries though

That geezer (roberts ??) what a run for our try :bound:

'nana Gloat

That was Wales at their best and still we beat them. We will have to improve if we're to win the tournament. We can't get away with a performance like that against the ig teams.

'nana Gloat

All hopes rest on Jonny Wilkinson's boot because apart from that in this tournament he hasn't shown he has much else in his locker. Wales were superb but for giving away silly penalties they would have won. On this evidence France will tear England apart. But England have a mental edge over them having beaten them in crucial games over the years.

my take on it.

we played awful, but we still won.

the first half, despite untold possession, we never looked like breaching the welsh defence and were far too predictable. in contrast the welsh looked inventive and dangerous with the ball in hand.

jason robinson`s run to set up the try was sensational, and from then on, our confidence grew and the possession was turned into points with the welsh having to give away penalties trying to stop our attacks.

they came back, but too little, too late and our jonny wrapped the game up with a superb drop kick.

next weekend will see 2 awesome games.

so i was right then...! Marky? :D Marky? :D

In only just beginning to grasp all the rules. Some of the penalties given away seem stooopid, players should know not to hold on to the ball when they shouldnt etc.We really didnt look like scoring from tries. We missed Lewsey, lets hope hes fit by next week, though its doubtfull from what Ive read . Has any one else noticed that women like watching rugby alot more than football ?

Spot on ! My daughter and I were wearing our unofficial England Rugby shirts Sunday.I remarked how hot the long sleeve cotton shirts were and told the missus I was going to get an official shirt like what the players wear.Should look nice with my £4.00 leopard skin thong I bought from Tesco's in Camberley on Saturday.!

We were poor but we still managed to score 25 points in the second half.

For me we have not hit any form. I think some of this is that the games have not been big enough for us yet. I think we will step it up against France.

It is kind of like psychology. England were made out to be favourites but I think they are purposely not playing at their best !!!

'nana Gloat

France seem to be at their peak, which is not good for them, whereas England poorly against a Welsh side playing out of their skin.

'nana Gloat

England need to improve if they are to get past France. We know that England are more than capable of winning but there is no sign that England are going to up their game.

I do fear next Sunday will be the end of our road.

'nana Gloat

I can see us stuttering our way to the Final..........then putting on a mega performance against NZ

'nana Gloat

This thread shows how little we think of the Welsh as there is hardly any gloating. Imagine if we had lost.

Unless there is a marked improvement the French will win, but you have to question how motivated the English players are against teams they should beat comfortably. For the Welsh and Samoans it was their final, to us it was just a nuisance until the real games begin.

Perhaps, but I can't see England all of a sudden running into form.

They would need to improve greatly to beat France, I truely hope tehy do, but I fear they won't.

Yes boys, you won as expected by over 50 points!

And scored 1 try.

CONGRATULATIONS

p.s. you had better hope there's some massive improvement before next saturday. I told you England would choke - did you see that backward kick - classic!

you said try should = 1pt
penalty = 5 pts..

stop changing the rules to suit... :D

yes i did - but i fail to see the correlation. If scoring were like that then they would be fewer (or zero) penalties so Wales would have won!

Yes and a referee who let England hang on to the ball too long in their tackles.

Performance means nothing, it's all about the win. I'm very happy if they play badly and win.

That's true. Before the world cup we were beating all comers and our reserves were making some of the lesser lights in world rugby (including Wales) look very poor. Now when the pressure is on, the first team is struggling to beat Wales, a rugby team that hasn't been any good for more than 20 years. A big improvement is needed next week against France. All we can hope for is that England are playing at the level of their opponents rather than showing that they aren't the number 1 team in world rugby any more.

'nana Gloat

makes sense to me. NZ scored more tries against a higher ranker opposition. NZ also got more ranking points for beating SA than England did when they beat SA for similar reasons!
