Nathan Elder

What a drab problem !

Glad I listened from the beginning though, as their traffic information spot, said about a bad accident on the A22, which enabled me to take a swift detour home :)

The interview with Nathan didn't last more than 3-5 minutes and he was full of positivity. Very refreshing. We are gonna make those play-offs, if the squad have anything to do with it :sorted:

Chasing Pavements

Should we play Reid,
Or should we just keep playing Elder?
Even if it leads nowhere,

Or would it be a waste?
Even If we knew Reid has pace
should we leave him benched ?

Should we play Reid,
Or should we just keep playing Elder?
Even if it leads nowhere.....

Nathan Elder

I dont know that tune, can you hum it for me please?

How about a song for Nathan:
To be sung to the tune of Waltzing Maltilda

Scoring Nat Eleder, scoring Nat Elder
Who'll score more goals than Nat Elder the Bee
And he ran and jumped and headed in another one
Who'll score more goals than Nat Elder the Beeeeeeee.

Great!

Or..

There's only...one Nathan Elder, one Nathan Elder,
No-one will score more than Elder the bee,
And he ran and he jumped and he headed in another one,
No-one will score more than Elder the bee.

Nathan Elder

got a good feeling he is going to score tomorrow at the right end!!!

Nathan Elder

One of the London 'freebies' said he has postponed knee surgery until the end of the season. Presumably Bees are hoping that the injury can be "managed", and will not deteriorate between now & then.

Nathan Elder

Played alright today, nearly scored a couple of times

Strong in challenges but open play ball control needs a bit of work ~ maybe a bit rusty / lack of first team play?

Yeah, could need more minutes on the pitch. First touch wasn't the best and should've put away that chance in the first half.

I'm glad that people saw something in him as his performance wasn't anything like the one at Mansfield. I see a player in there and something that we have needed for a while.

Nathan Elder

Thought he looked nuff good and won loads of headerers.

Nathan Elder

First half miss! :banghead:
Piss off Elder!!!

:fishing:

Only joking love you really.

:sneakoff:

Nathan Elder

I hope that he can last until the end of the season and expect that his performances are being hampered by his injury.

If necessary, Reid would fill in well down the centre given his pace.

:imwith:

And he still caused their defence a lot more problems than Thorpe ever would.:)

This is in no way a criticism of Nathan, but I saw him for the first time on Saturday and I can't exactly say that he looks likely to be a real goal scoring centre forward. Maybe I caught him on an off day, but I don't see him being a 20 goal a season player.

I agree he looks the part and has a bit of pace, but somehow I got the feeling that he will never make it. Before anyone starts ranting that I don't know what I am talking about, I say again that I am not writing him off. Maybe like the other 10, on Saturday, he just had a bad day at the office.

However, as I will never see him play regularly, owing to my location, it would be interesting to see what others think.

Nathan Elder

Alan D: Sounds like the whole team had a bit of an off day really.

I like what I have seen so far, has all the attributes needed to be a good striker. I think the main thing with him though is this knee injury we keep hearing about, just how bad it is, and how much it affects him.
Great goal on his debut (the one at the right end), scored against the Shrews (albeit the lino and ref didn't see the ball had crossed the line), should have scored early on against Accy, and was well involved in the penalty winning incident at Barnet. The pleasing thing for me is that he is a real handful, and therfore allows much more room for the likes of Connell and Poole, which has seen them benefit to the tune of a fair few goals between them.

Might be he gets a rest tomorrow night, but we see him on Saturday.

I agree- reckon he's a confidence player too. Once he gets the next one , he might go on a little run hopefully

He's a real handful for defenders from what I've seen. His menace might actually create more opportunity for Connell by diversion too. He'll probably have a hand in more goals that he scores himself.

Agree 100%. Have only seen him in two games, but on the basis of those - Shrews and Barnet - thought he was a major plus. Great attitude despite clearly not being 100% fit. When he's fit and settled, he'll make and score plenty and he's only 20. Who was the last 20 year old striker we had who put himself about like Nathan? Come on son :owusu:

Nathan Elder

He's
1) a big bastard
2) who can hold it up
3) and pass it,
4) also has pace and
5) isn't afraid to get stuck in with tackles when he loses the ball.

Sorry to say, but Thorpe had only one of those qualities.

Elder's been a shining light compared to Thorpe. Nice guy maybe, but not what we needed. Hope he's fit enough to play soon. I'd say we can leave him out or put him on the bench tonight if 4 extra days will help his injury.
