New Centreback

Given the following information from the meeting notes:

Rumour in the bar was that a very tall countryman of a current BFC player is in BFC's sights.

Is this player:

a) English?
b) Irish?
c) Icelandic?
d) Ghanian?
e) French?

I'm personally intrigued as I would personally rule out a) and d)

and am guessing that the player in question is either Icelandic or French!!

New Centreback

Would we want Desailly?

There's so many French centre backs out there; it's probably one of those.

Yes, a polished centre back would be a good signing.

What AN AWFUL PUN!

If they are it would be a shame to tip-off other people that might read the GPG and happen to manage a football league club.

If they were Banana I am sure it would be difficult to prize him away from Champions League football and I believe they are top of the league. The league finishes around October so the liklehood is pretty slim IMHO.

As is the possiblity of managers of other clubs reading the GPG.....

You would think so, wouldn't you? But I can promise you that a manager of a Football League club other than Brentford is a regular reader of the GPG.

Is there any reason it appears to be a secret who it is? Come on, spill the beans! :)

Oh no, the former manager of this club comes back to haunt us again:nono:

I had really hoped we had got over the former manager of this club and he would never have been mentioned again:sad:

Farnham, he is in the Premiership or, are you expecting (hoping!), that his club get relegatedlol

Our source of information says this person is a Football League manager.

Anyway :backtotopic: who is the new centreback to be:confused:

New Centreback

????? Marshall ExBEE - What happened to him by the way?

FH Hafnarjordur (Harbour Fjord ) are playing in Talinn tonight.
Icelandic season finishes in mid-Sept & they are semi-prof players at best.
FH play in fron of 2500 at best which is excellent by Icelandic standards.
I was there in July 2004 & the ground on the main road in to the capital is no better than Feltham Arena..........without a roof !

Any Icelander will jump at the chance to play in England.

Irish Player

Gary Breen

Spent Saturday with Pete - probably a little past his sell-by date now, but still trim, still with black hair - minus the wicked sideburns though !!! :sorted:

dallas, please tell peter he is still remembered and admired!

not the tallest centre half (not centre backs then...) but certainly one of the best to wear the red and white stripes.

If I was a manager I would spend hours on any site researching a player I was scouting. it is sites like this where you get the most honest, in depth and rounded opinion on players rather than your scout who watches them once or twice (julian charles, pinamonte).

I must admit Kevin oconnor has totally lost it. He has really lost his pace and his bottle and i would let him go if it was up to me! Frampton?, never had it in the first place, but that fitzgerald chap is friggin brilliant, possibly the best ever strike force we have had to see him up front with willock!

errr - I said he would be either Icelandic or French...

having said that cryptic clues by those in the know on this thread and the Yeading updates thread have me leaning towards Iceland again!

Let me explain. The details are sketchy as they always are; there is no-one in the know apart from Leroy as is always the case; GPGers put together the snippets of information and come up with the answer given the various pieces of the jigsaw that are available - as always happens; people assume that there are people "in the know" which is (invariably) never the case (except for Leroy of course); GPGers put together a name based on information received that fits with all of the clues (which is invariably correct); idiots on the BFC board look for leaks in a colander which even markbfc is amazed at the size and frequency of the holes.

HOWEVER, we are a fans' run club (supposedly) with many connections from Burgess to the rest of the supporters. So it's hardly surprising when news appears on fans' websites first

yeah - I was only fishing a bit!

I realise that only Leroy really knows - but we are a fairly close club - and it does generally suprise (maybe surprise is not really the word) me how accurate some of the speculation from those "in the know" is!!

I'm hoping the cryptic clues are correct though cos it seems that there could potentially be a very good signing at the end of them!!

I hope Herman has been singing our praises again!!

A great centre half. I remember 2 unusual incidents he was involved in:

1.A flying knee high slide tackle on a player runnning towards a ball that was at least 10 yards away

2. A 20 yard run up for a penalty which rebounded of the famous Brook Road stand and soon ended up in the back of the Brentford net.

The mods will probably now send this thread to memory lane.

New Centreback

yes ---- but until they do i also remember how he helped alan nelmes as his co centre half (alan was our bobby moore to peter's jack charlton!)

happy days!

but back to the 2006/7 campaign, so who will be the new centre back then? any more clues chaps (m/f) ?
