Don't think it is anything like 50% up front. Without programmes or anything to hand, I'd guess 40% wide right, 40% centre midfield and 20% (at most) up front

All the same, we would hope for more goals from someone meant (I think) to be an attacking midfield player

Lets not try to make him out to be something he is not. Are you including the meaningless hat-trick in the LDV is that "12" figure.

In the league this season he hasn't had a shot, let alone scored a goal. In fact I'm not even sure he has thought about having a shot.

Kevin O'Connor a weak link eh! I think he's done very well in midfield. Furthermore he has been moved around a lot and I think his best position is centre midfield - he reads the game very well and has a tremendous appetite for hard work. His defending is excellent for a converted striker and he will score goals, but never enough to make him a striker.

Hope so. Any idea when. One or two this season would be a bonus...................!!! Even one would be a start, or a shot or an assist. Sorry , but KOCs abysmal form this season is one of the key reasons for our poor league position. He flatters to deceive, and deserved to be dropped weeks ago. Sad thing is that the symbolic dropping to the bench only lasted 2/3 of a game and he'll probably be back next week wandering about aimlessly on the pitch.

I reckon Kevin could actually be a good right back. Comfortable on the ball, good tackler, decent crosser, very fit. Probably quicker than Dobbo as well.

Dobbo is worth a try in centre midfield as well while we're at it.

I know that this won't be popular with most people on here, but I agree 100% with JTof BFC in his assessemnt of KO'C and have thought this way for some time now.

I think that he consistently underperforms and should have been dropped long ago - he's not been worth a place in the starting line-up for some time if most players are fit. Perhaps the performance on Saturday, without him, will get the wally thinking along those lines too.

He's a reasonable squad member, but IMHO, should be a long way down in the queue for a first team place.

I think kevin is a real workhorse and definately the water carrier of the team. He is always making tackles and challenging everything he can and is very brave. Everything EH isn't really!

Why do people expect so many goals from him?, he has never scored goals so just why everyone us expecting him to bag loads is a mystery to me..just cos wally plays him out of position up front sometmes is not his fault!

I would have an Evans-O'Connor centremidfield pairing above any other combination. Hutch and Jay Smith are not upto it, I am yet to be convinced by Roget, and the two I picked can pass a football along the ground from time to time rather than aimlessly hoofing it upfield!

After Tranny, might I suggest Rougier + Dobbo (who I've been clamouring to play there for most of this season, and some of last) for the two central midfield positions?

Before last Saturday, Evans would have been my first choice, but he just seems to make rash tackles all too frequently, a la Fullarton. So I'd be tempted to try those two with Tabby and the frantic Irishman (Hunty, not KO'C) out wide, or perhaps Tabby just behind the front two.

Am waiting for the response when Kev rocks back into the performances that we know and expect, the performances he was called up upon to Ireland u21's based on. He was not only on the bench as you would have liked, but actively participated in half a dozen games or so, taking part in 'aimless wandering' as you seem to confuse it with.

Agree, Kev is a quality player and maybe a measure of our depth that we could actually have him on the bench.

I think Kev is one of the many players who's suffered as a result of Wally's management. To me he has the potential to be a quality DEFENSIVE midfielder. He works hard, is not shy in the tackle and actually has very good technique, what he hasn't got is the pace or skill and strength to be a winger, forward or attacking midfielder, yet Wally insists on playing him in these positions instead of pairing him with Tabb or Evans in midfield. What he needs is to be given a run of games in his best position not messed around being played out of position or with poor players like Jay Smith and EH...

you are not going to see the best of a player who keeps being asked to play in a variety of positions - sometimes in the same match. Maybe Kevin just needs a rest or a run in one particular position. He definetly isn't playing as well as he can.

Atto: apart from your first "fact", they are all subjective comments, some of which I agree with and some I disagree with. But personally, I think we've done the KO'C debate to death and we will all have our own, apparently quite differing opinions on him.

What is I will simply say, though (and whilst it is subjective, I'd be surprised if many people disagree), is that, without him in the starting line-up, we showed the most commitment and had the best performance for many weeks on Saturday.

Nothing you or others have said will alter my opinion of him, so can I suggest that we beg to differ and leave it at that, for fear of boring everyone on this topic.

As you said though, everyone has their own opinions and the discussion does seem to be going round in circles somewhat.

I don't think the performance on Saturday had much to do with Kev's absence, but we all know he hasn't been on form recently and it's good that we have the squad to enable us to drop players and provide competition.

He has been workmanlike as a rightsided midfielder but after a couple of good performances when moved into central midfield - his international position, he has stood still.

1 good free kick goal v Gainsborough and an excellent near post flick-on for Tabb's winner at Wycombe do not a season make.

Time for him to shape up in my opinion and demonstrate not only his ability but also his leadership.
