Point taken Dan.

Now show me a manager or chairman who hasn't made a wrong decission or two in signing a player or letting them go.

My point is that under RN we have seen more good signings than bad. I know that it came it at a cost as we all do, afterall if you pay peanuts you get monkeys!

However IMHO I do feel that RN has used Brentford to prove a point that the Bosman ruling will be the demise of many a lower division club.

The worst thing about Lorenzo was that Micky Adams was really pi**ed off that he came to us instead of Brighton and sarcastically asked to take Owusu on loan as we had pinched him from under his nose.

So RN wasnt the only one who was fooled by him.

So, in fact that signing may have changed the whole course of our history. Without signing Pinamonte, he may have gone to Brighton. He may still have been there last season, and Zamora may have been less effective with Pinadonkey up front with him.

We would have been promoted instead of Brighton. So now you know - it's all Pinamonte's fault!

cool - i mean, i do agree, look at Smith, Rowlands, Evans, Owusu, Ivar, Sonko, etc etc... all class the likes of which we don't see too often round here. but he's not flawless (and indeed, like u say, it's hard to find someone who is!)

Drewe Broughton - :laughsm

im sure a good way for RN to get some of the money he invested back is to invest a bit of cash on some one who will get us out of div2 into div1, yeah free signings of future talents are gr8 but i believe its time we got someone in who has some experiance, and can really get us back on the track of being promoted. Sort it out Ron...

Are you trying to say that we should invest a bit of cash in a player or two to get promoted?

But what your suggesting would mean that there would be an increase in gates, which would increase revenue and reduce debt.

Baldrick, there is a flaw in your cunning plan. It is too simple:D

i see what u'r saying, but i don't think you quite understand the tight ship that Ron Noades runs here... I mean, experienced players to help us get promoted - like, say, Gavin Mahon? and Paul Gibbs? No, SELL them on the run-in, THAT's the way to make money...

 :(

A few more quid and we could have kept Ivar. It was criminal letting him go so easily.

I still cry into my stella over it.

Would you have played Ivar ahead of Sonko?!!! I'd say to be fair to Wally, defence isn't an area where we've missed players (except perhaps left back and we never had much cover there anyway).

And I suspect even if we'd upped our offer, Ivar would have still gone to Wolves anyway.

Besides, to increase our wage bill further or to even keep it at the same levels as last season would have made it even more difficult for Bees United to take over than it is now...

What's done is done, let's look to the future (hopefully there will be one)

i think it was reported that ivar would have taken a pay cut to stay. but yes, wally has replaced the lads well. ivar was still class tho :(

Anyway, just some more examples for you:

Scott Marshall, 200,000, played how many games? on how much a week?

Don't think Ron can be expected to fosee individual player injuries.

oli g, great keeper, but on how much a week?

Signed on a free transfer though, and we've secured the services of a better player as well.

drewe broughton, he was good weren't he!

I don't think Ron can be held accountable for his stroppiness, we cut our losses on him as quick as we could.

leo fortune west, 1 goal in 6 months
Has scored everywhere else he's been though, we didn't really play to his style either, and again he sulked when dropped, and he was shipped out ASAP

tony folan, scott partridge - played their parts i guess, both signed for 100,000 odd, released on frees, were they worth it? don't think so!

Tony Folan could have been, not Managements fault that he had personal problems. Partridge was released during the cost cutting exercise, in a better market we could have got a fee. As you say as well, both played their part in promotion, so £200k was easily worth it.

There are far more worthy areas to attack Noades, I don't really think the actual players signed comes into question, just the duplicity on who was actually funding them.

Couldn't've put it better myself Park Royal.

And I've had more than one attempt at it on here.... :D

The funding issue is a problem, but I harp back to the season following promotion when Ron Noades bought in players who were not likely to feature regularly in the 1st team, at the same time as he ceased the reserves!! That season we had around 40 professionals on the books with about 20 of them never likely to feature. Why?.
If they did play they were never match fit really cos only a handful of friendlies were ever arranged for the reserves. We then got to February and Ron then says we can't do anything this season so I'm going to experiment, although we were 4 or 5 places from a play off position. We experimented lost games, lost support and therefore lost income!!
Why do I pick this season, well this was the year our overdraft doubled, all of which is available to scrutinise in the public domain and it was also the season before Mr Noades tells us what funding really means.
I therefore believe that a man with so much football club experience did make a major cock up on the financial side of BFC and should hold his hands up and admit it, and maybe even truely fund a proportion of the error created.

Very simply, yes.

The pie is in the oven Eddy Baby - main ingredient... humble! Of course, how we would love to play Ivar and Sonko alongside each other, but who cares - we have Marshall!
