Hey guys, I have slowly begun to enjoy the Bees and I have a question for you guys. I have heard a rumor that Brentford are going to hopefully have a new stadium? Is this true and have the plans and blueprints been released. Thanks.

We also have been granted £1.7 million to upgrade our exisiting stadium, but as far as i know that isn't going to start until next season atleast as season tickets have been sold and nothing mentioned as to having to be rellocated during the current season. I however fail to see the point of this money and refurbishment being made if a rellocation is on the cards. If anyone else knows any more than me then please enlighten me.

i may be wrong but dont we now own the old viking sports ground as a home for our ladies team whicj merged with theirs?its been a long time since ive drove past it as i obviously dont live in london anymore but if my memory serves me correctly its a pretty big space

Brighton Bee - If yu mean the Training Facility at Jersey Road then yes, it has more than enough room for a new ground, loads of parking and entertainmeny complex.
Problem is, there is one road in and one road out. It is slap in the middle of expensive housing and located on a greenfield site I believe.
It also has a fantastic playing surface

I understand a new ground if permission is given, will not be occupied until 5yrs after the ground redevelopments. These developments are to be in the closed season after a positive option result in BU favour . Redevelopment and revenue/business opportunities that result from it will be stimuli for backers of the new stadium to prove viability. Also helping financial stability. It no new stadium be forthcoming then GP's capacity will be 15K. Sufficient for championship capacities. Please note the architects for lionel Rd do not include any reference to its potential development/plans on their web site.

There is the little matter of raising our £500k plus first and given our current financial situation that will be no small job and er....... another minor matter of repaying Altonwood the £1million bullet loan in 2008 if all goes as planned.
However no need to spoil a pleasant Monday morning on planet Earth with my (as always) totally irrelevant junk so I'll just wait to read all about it in a future official programme.

thanks that helps a lot-so we dont own the ground our ladies team just play there?is it big enough for a new stadium though, just out of interest

So Bedfont have moved a considerable distance from Bedfont!! Even with DW as chairman. Did DW not own some of the old Bedfont site himself and has it been sold?
If so surely he would want to now put some of his made cash into BU. As the time has never been more right.

I am not party to any anything other than the official story. The five years in the newly developed stadium may generate enough revenue to repay the loan on the 500k needed to get the grant money? What are the other more likely options for the the future of the ground, based on some `actual' evidence? :dj: 4 90

It is on the A40 not A4 but I see someone has corrected that in a quote post above.
Here is a link to the Bedfont Green FC ( http://www.bedfontgreenfc.co.uk/ )web site and if you click on Club Details it shows the location of the ground. Unfortunately the arrow points to GSK (Glaxos) Sports and social club and not Avenue Park!! Avenue park is to the left of the road (shown white on the map) and above the word “Avenue”. From recollection it does not cover a very large footprint and occupies less than a half of the area bounded by the roads and Birkbeck College Sports Ground.

Bedfont Green's (not to be confused with Bedfont FC!) old 'ground' was in fact the local park which they have used since being, well, little more than a park team. A remarkable rise of something like seven successive promotions has seen them rocket through the local senior football leagues, and this has taken aback a bit ground-wise. A dugout and stand was added last year, but more was needed to progress to the league they are now in after being promoted again. So no site was sold by Bedfont Green, it was owned by Spelthorne Council.
