Sounds exciting.

New Training Ground

Depends where it is!!! What about if it was on the other side of London?

I don't think that is likely do you.

We're not talking about Toades here.

New Training Ground

Is it in Manchester?

New Training Ground

what's wrong with the one, we have?

New Training Ground

With Uwe and ALAN KERNAGHAN yeah? It won't be the other side of London or even Manchester...

...Just as sure as that Coronation Street rapist was killed by his own Mum, we're gonna buy Glasgow Rangers training ground for a knockdown price...

New Training Ground

Is Chelsea's old one in West Drayton still available?

New Training Ground

Also when the weather went to hell the training ground became unusable. They had to find other facilities to train in. I'm assuming that this new location could fix that potential problem (or at least help with it).

But a growing club, will need to grow. Better training facilities could be very important for this.

New Training Ground

why not renew it then?

Because we want somewhere with better facilities. For example we had to hunt around for weatherproof/indoor pitches during the recent cold spell.

It's not as easy as that, I believe, with the club wanting a Category 2 Academy rating, the facilities need to be better than what is currently available at Jersey Road, maybe the owners of the site won't accept upgrading Jersey Road, or maybe planning consent wouldn't allow it, only a club director could answer that.

At the moment it looks like the Academy will be based elsewhere (Uxbridge?), but it would make sense to ultimately have it in one place and share facilities.

Someone mentioned the Academy? I always see a Brentford minibus with academy players on it stopping through Harefield every week.

After watching my son play at Chelsea FC`s Cobham base, I`d like to think the ideal scenario would be based at a college with a 3G dome covered pitch and site shared with the academy. The academy needs to be linked to an educational facility and the college could offer this. Unfortunately can`t see any facilities good enough in LBH.

Obviously Cobham cost tens of millions and is out of this world, but maybe we could pinch some ideas and I am sure BFC are and will.

It was announced on the O/S and programme yesterday that we have partnered with Uxbridge College for the Education part and that we will also be building (subject to planning permission) an indoor facility there.

The Brantford Academy is currently at Hillingdon Leisure Centre so I guess with this news they wil be moving down the road. Maybe the minibus is trying to hijack the kids from Harefield academy who are associated with Watford? :)

If BFC follow the Watford operating model at the same standard, then the club is certainly doing the right things.

Also playing indoor on 3G is just superb for kids.

Were in talks with a university in Teddington I've heard!

Well there aren't any .... but St Mary's have the playing fields/astroturf opposite the Lensbury Club in Broom Road.

I've only been to Jersey road a few times but it always appears to me to be a bit "municipal" for want of a better term. The place always looks unkept and with the perceived ambition of the club at present I think it deserves looking at a huge upgrading in facilities.

How about Strawberry Hill ? Not just because it's around the corner from me but the facilities there are great. The campus houses one of the top sports science and rehab departments in Europe (Usain Bolt and Fabregas to name but two have been there for treatment) and it has had a massive make-over for the Olympics and will be a training base for the Chineses athletes. Also the playing fields are top quality on the old Lensbury site up the road.

QPR have bought warren farm which is a stone throw from jersey road and are developing that. Its near gillette corner if you dont know it. Sipson where QPR and chelski used to train is now empty and apparently has good facilities.

Wow, just a couple of streets away from my gaff.
Large Brentford support in these parts but many have given up.
Hopefully the word will start to encourage the Uxbridge and Hillingdon people
back to Brentford FC.

I work right next to the school too, never seen the minibus there though??

Qpr still train at harlington. The facilities are fairly poor, the 3G pitch is only floodlit at 1 end. (mobile lighting towers light the other but this tends to make the centre of the pitch poorly lit!)
The main problem with Harlington is it owned by University of Westminster(?),and this leads to problems with any development eg a dome. This is why Chelsea left and why Qpr are looking to develop elsewhere.

 3G pitch?

do you ever remember at school... teacher says something and everyone nods their head, says 'ah, yes' and continue to refer back to it... you haven't a clue what they mean but you nod your head nonetheless...

It's astro turf with small bits of rubber in the surface instead of sand. AFAIK, you can wear moulded boots on the surface, whereas astro you couldn't.
