Noades - Lovable rogue?

Noades - Lovable rogue?

He wasn't ill when he planned the end of Brentford FC helped by plenty who have tried subsequently to re write history.

Funny you should say that,he actually mentioned to a group of us when he was looking to get out and mentioned that he was going to the states to have treatment for the early stages of cancer. He added if anything happened to him the club would belong to his(welsh magistrate piece of work)wife and she wouldn't hesitate to shut us down as she hated us fans. Not a pleasant subject Noades or Cancer so will leave it there.I will only add that he did actually say to me over the phone that he hoped the club go into administration and out of business, that's just for those who aren't sure about him.

Noades - Lovable rogue?

I come on here to read comments on Brentford fc and I find in hard to think people can write these comments.
We all have our views on people but do we have to comment on a man who is ill.
God knows what you will all write when his time is up.

I appreciate what you (and others) are saying but then you read this.....

I will only add that he did actually say to me over the phone that he hoped the club go into administration and out of business.

....and then I think, **** him.

Noades - Lovable rogue?

As somebody who has survived cancer, I wouldn't wish it on anyone or their family and I find many of the comments on here very upsetting

Totally agree Big Seb.
Of course I understand the hate poured out towards Noades. but I too, hope most reasonable Bees fans are above gloating about serious illness.
My Wife for the last two years has been fighting ( and thank God hopefully now winning ) a desperate life or death battle with cancer and I too, like Big Seb would not wish this on anyone or their family.

Noades - Lovable rogue?

not many people would get such a reaction to such news. the reaction is purely a result of the actions he took. "he started it".

i appreciate some of it's distasteful, but he brought such ill-feeling upon himself.

Noades - Lovable rogue?

It's time to plan ahead so.

Will there be a minutes silence at the game after his passing?

Can I wear a White wig I have from the promotion win under his stewardship?

Will they parade a coffin with his name on it rather than Brentford?

Will his coffin pass griffin park for a moments reflection?

What will palace do?

Noades - Lovable rogue?

no, no, no, no, probably something - my dad's a palace fan (that's where i got the news) and, while he was irritating at times there, he did a lot of good for them too, so it's not the same at all.

Noades - Lovable rogue?

It is quite objectionable to goad, laugh or mock any illness with anybody.

What anyone does in a business sense is their own legacy - what I will take is that we as a club were better and stronger in the long run, despite the actions of others we are still here, and despite what others have tried to do to the club will be around longer than they every will be.

You reap what you sow, and that applies to us all, I am sure that if some read this they would say that the spouses have a point - its a shame we cant show more respect and dignity and class than some of our former owners have shown to our club - by laughing at others you sink to their level and in many cases prove them right.

Some may be more upset if every fan sent them a get well soon card - he wouldnt know how to respond - but he would understand that we are still here and being here trumps everything and is something he cant do anythign about. Negative comments will just give some fuel - we can move on, some are not able due to their health - our future is bright, for others its not so bright

Common on Brentford - a club - stronger than any one person

How can you lecture about being objectionable in one breath then hint an idea of sending a Get Well Soon Card ???????????
At least the goaders are being honest about how they feel towards him and I for one wouldn't stoop that low as to send a 'kin card !!!!!

Nor me mate, hate the guy just simply can't get happy over anyone dealing with cancer, I don't feel much sorrow for him which I don't like but c'est la vie.
I've tried telling myself that 1 in 2.7 of us gets this news and perhaps he isn't the worst 1 in 2.7 to get that news but that doesn't work either.

I'm not happy that he's got cancer, like everyone else, i've had young friends and young family die from cancer.
They were 1/2 his age and good people.
Noades is a **** and he won't get any sympathy from me.

I'll change my mind about him if he leaves BFC a few million to help build our new stadium.

Noades - Lovable rogue?

He sounds like That man, who says.
I don't believe it. sad bloke. and we nearly ended up at woking.
Thanks ! To Bias Bees utd etc and wonderful MR. BENHAM...

Good post IMHO. There isn't (surely) a Bees fan that thinks that highly of him but the bottom line is he is very ill. Having heard this months ago I didn't want to post anything as I knew there would be some uncomfortable posts but you knew it would come out eventually. Who knows his future?

Just feel for those currently, recently, whenever having been through this most wretched of illneses either themselves or their loved ones - its not pleasant to read.

For every RN we have had the paradox of MB, so Bees fans can look to a brighter future. Ultimately our Club didn't die and celebrating what we actually have is far better than resenting what nearly happened, surely?

Noades - Lovable rogue?

...and then we have the fans who became pals with his henchmen even working with them eh

Please dont put words in my mouth - I never hinted at sending cards I merely implied that should such an action happen some would not have anticiapted such action and would not know how to act, which may be a reflection of the type of people that one can be - but it would be wrong to stoop to the ways of the lowest common denominator

And being honest does not mean having the class, intergrity and dignity to know when to remain silent

I'd be a hypocrite to wish him anything but bad tidings so there is little point me being anything other than honest, how others act is down to them.

...or you could just keep your honest words and thoughts to yourself - you dont have to say them to make them real or make anyone more or less of a fan - I dare say everyone has done something to at least one other person in their life to make them wish they were rhurbarb food

Noades - Lovable rogue?

Close this thread - its pathetic.

I'll have a party when the old bastard dies anyway - as one that marched with the coffin and stood there being belittled by him at Woking and summonsed to his house, I hope he rots in hell.

Some people have short memories... f*** him.

All these self righteous fans on here giving it 'we feel sorry for him' after what he did to our club (and other clubs) is poor.

My missus has just got over cancer fortunately, she is a good person - so don't come on here giving it all the b*****ks that just because he has got the dreaded C we all have to forgive and forget... bet no-one would batter an eyelid if someone had shot him or run him over...

Thats why this thread should be closed. No-one can win here.

Just one point, you said 'one person' - I saw it as thousands of people and the generations to follow and generations past who have passed away now that he tried to harm.

You'll be asking for a statue next outside Lionel Road?

Noades - Lovable rogue?

What was his house like did he provided beers and crisp or cheese and wine??

Noades - Lovable rogue?

Most of us will know or have known someone who has suffered with one form or other of this horrible illness, and the pain, anguish and ultimate loss it brings. Cancer doesn't discriminate and I've read some of the moving tributes to fellow Bee's supporters who have lost the battle but are, quite rightly, remembered, and continue to be remembered, for the good they did for their families, the club and for society in general. However, if you choose to spend a good part of your life being nasty, greedy and vindictive its hardly surprising that some of those that have been on the receiving end respond with little or no sympathy when something like this happens.
Personally I will treat Noades's demise with complete indifference, he like the rest of us was never going to live forever, and whilst it gives me no pleasure to say it, I find it as somewhat ironic, that the club he tried to kill will outlive him.
Slightly off topic, Markybee, did the Noades employee say which golf club he is trying to buy? I'm a member of a club on the Sussex/Kent borders who's owner is a very wealthy board member at Palarse who is spending less and less time at the golf club. I'm wondering if he's looking to move it on to Noades

He did provide a couple of beers if I remember rightly!

All that stands out was what an intimidating bloke he was and that his wife had a 'bridge night' planned that evening that we had to move into another room whilst he questioned us about a fanzine article!

Noades - Lovable rogue?

Is that not a slight contradiction intimating yet wife says jump and he asks how high!!!

Anyway he did seem like a control freak didn't he get a list of users on here once?

That's pathetic - he never said anything to intimate such a post Greenholme!

More to the point I don't think anyone has made a big issue about feeling sorry for him either, there's a world of difference in being indifferent to someones predicament and what you are saying. Glasgow Bee was, if I can read his posts correctly, merely trying to point out somethings are better left unsaid. By doing so, it doesn't automatically mean they feel very sorry for someone or to "forgive and forget".

I hope I've read Glasgow Bee's posts the way intended, if not I apologise in advance.

I am certainly no fan of the man - please do not infer that from my words - I dont think I ever said forgive and forget either.

I think we may be agreeing that this thread should not have been allowed to exist and fester - to me some words, especially those against forms of illness or death, are best left as a thought and remain unspoken, or at least the sole domain of a private conversation - but we all have different ways and maybe Im just too up myself these days trying to be "all proper and the like" (Cotton, D. (1985-2013) Eastenders, BBC Productions)

And no I would never ever ask for a statue outside of Lionel Road, what made you think that I would say that - I am just enjoying the club that will out last all of us - common on Brentford

Yes, I know what Club he's trying to buy. The owner is a mad keen Arsenal fan, so it won't be the same. They had a meeting the other day - think the deal might go through eventually. The Club is in West Sussex.

Thank you - I think you put it better than I did :)

Phew! Othewise I'd have had to apologise to Greenholme. No one likes that :nono:

Trotta is ahead of Rowlands, what he did against Doncaster can never be forgiven in my book, Im not talking about the miss its what went before it.

neither of them begin to compare to noades, webb and dunnett.

Noades - Lovable rogue?

Nobody that I am aware of is defending or condoning Noades in any way shape or form, it is just a sad reflection on the human race when people can revel in another being terminally ill, whoever it may be.

On a scale of 1-100 of individuals who wronged BFC Trotta probably rates about an 8 (if that). If you're ranking him up with Noades, Webb, Dunnett etc you must have been following the club for about three years. And what 'went on before it' exactly?

Noades - Lovable rogue?

Brentford was a club that was bobbing perilously along financially for years, at the time Noades took over if it wasn't him it would have been some other shyster coming in and shafting the club, more obnoxious to me is there were people connected to the club who must have known what he was up to and stood by and did and said nothing, As to all the people joyful in Noades' illness as many of you have stated what goes around comes around.

Noades - Lovable rogue?

It is all ancient history - for goodness sake the poor man is apparently very ill. The future is more important to us all.

I believe the state of our finances were relatively healthy prior to Uncle Ron's involvement. Also not sure why anyone else would have been just as bad/worse than him.

Blimey. Some people have extraordinarily short memories.

You do remember the middle part of the 2000s? The walks, the bucket collections, the bike rides, the need to sell our main assets, the need to get as far as possible in the FA Cup each year, the Fighting Chance fund and the generosity of several people to keep the club alive. I cannot imagine how we got into that mess, or indeed who got us into that mess.

But for Matthew Benham, I'd hazard a guess we'd be halfway back to the football league as AFC Brentford and looking forward to facing a side such as Harrow Borough this weekend.

Anicient history indeed. :grey:

That was my understanding also thanks to W£bb and it was the lack of debt that attracted him to the club

I suggest you read your history. Noades is on record as saying that the club was debt-free when he bought it. He even paid a premium for the shares; the only and one instance of a premium being paid on Brentford FC shares.....EVER.

Noades - Lovable rogue?

Nana is 100% correct. Webb bought the club for f-all from Martin Lange but inherited it's debts. He sold the team and paid off the debt. Got relegated and then sold the club to RN for £750k (I think). So RN bought a club well in the money. Webb turned under £50k into £750k ish in circa 12 months.

Didn't really leave them on good terms though.
Sold the club but kept the ground.
Wanted to merge Palace and Wimbledon.
Despite a number of big sales from that decent Palace team, they didn't seem to benefit.

Exactly

When he took over he stated one of the reasons for doing so was because "the Club was relatively debt free".
Then he leaves a few years later and we are knocking 9/10 million in debt

i didn't want to get into it, and i don't know the full story anyway. but in summary, he is not as universally-despised among Palace fans as he is here. my dad was pretty shocked by the reaction this news got here.
