I'd say you are looking at Virgin Trains which are supposedly quicker, far more expensive but liable to be late/breakdown. Silverlink is your man. :sorted:

Northampton tuesday

Hitchin Bees will be there if all goes according to plan (ie missus out for the night so the kids can skip homework). But then it's not too much of journey for us. Hopefully pop into the restaurant (TDG or something similar) next to the ground specially to see the waitresses attired in BFC shirts (though a couple I'd rather see without shirts)

Northampton tuesday

.............perhaps..............

I don't get it, where did this game spring from? I looked on the fixture list and it says it is a JPT game whatever that is

Northampton tuesday

It is the Peter Johnstone Trophy (you must have misread, it says PJT on the site not JPT). He was one of the founding fathers of the club back in the 1880's and every year we play against Northampton for his ashes...for many it is the biggest event in the calendar

Still not going though :)

Northampton tuesday

are we going to play the reserves though for this mickey mouse cup!

It's called the Johnstone Paints Trophy this season :nono:

Disney are not involved....

Northampton tuesday

And are still on our books, injury free and eligible surely?

Thanks for that, I'll let Johnstone's Paint know.
Very inventive btw

And you're out of order becoz he was my great, great grandfather and i've got his ashes on my mantle-piece and no f***er is playing for them :nono:

Northampton tuesday

And i'm out of order becoz i couldnt put both of the above on the same reply lol

Northampton tuesday

I think the only things we'll get out of the game are:
a) more injuries,
b) more bookings and
c) embarrassed.

See both of you there  What time's the taxi arriving? :)

Northampton tuesday

I shall bee there with Bill the Fish, Twydie and Fat Bee Slim.

Scouse Sarah is lucky as she has an excuse of being in Wakefield on business.

Northampton tuesday

Cant make it would you believe...................

I gather the M1 is a complete nightmare at the moment. Is this correct?

We went up on Saturday on the M1 and it was fine, average speed restrictions junctions 8 to 10 both ways made it slow but didn't stop once.

I suspect a weekday evening might be a different matter.

Northampton tuesday

Yes

We use the M40 to come down to GP

Went to Sixfields in August for evening game. Used M25 to M40 then M40 to junction 10 then took A43 to Northampton.Good fast run about one and a half hours from Heathrow.(Much better than using M1)Watch out for speed cameras on A43 they are Truvelo cameras which get you as you go towards them rather than the more common Gatsos which flash after youve passed.Still, like myself and all Bees fans you are all law abiding drivers.so cameras are no problem to you.
Cant make it tomorrow but good luck to all of you who go.

Northampton tuesday

Going via the M40 is senseless from here, so I think I'll try the A1 to Hitchin and cut across via Bedford to Northampton - unless someone tells me that that's crazy too.

For the August game I went to Northampton from where I work in Hatfield via A1 to J4 and then cross country via A6129, B197, B653, A505 & A1081 to pick up M1 North of roadworks at Luton and had a very easy journey. :sorted:

However...... traffic is heavier in October than August, there is 3 miles of A1M contraflow at J1 where one struggles to challenge the 40mph average speed cameras at peak times and there is always very slow traffic just after the Hatfield tunnel.

I suggest you leave after lunch

Wasn't my word good enough for you? :nono: It's a total nightmare during peak times - took me 3 hours to get to Heathrow the other day (usually 50 minutes) so if you're leaving any later than around 3.00pm then I'd advise you to go a different way. You could always take the train

Northampton tuesday

Avoid M 1 North (twixt 5.00pm and 6.30pm) at all costs tomorrow evening, although it might be more enjoyable sitting there for an hour or so between junctions 8 & 11 watching the flickering lights of Luton in the distance than the so-called "entertainment" at Sixfield.

From London, use M40 and A 43

M! should be fine for the return journey.

It should take me about 25 minutes to walk the 2 miles from here to Sixfields.

I don't think it'll be a sell-out !
