Old Grounds

Old Grounds

I'm sure it's on here somewhere, still great to see some old grounds with far more character than any of the new stadiums that are springing up.

Old Grounds

Watching Wigan really brought back memories of how sh*te there ground was.
Many times standing in that stand on top of that grassing hill.:nono:
(No health and safety in those days!!!)rofl

Old Grounds

Torquay brings back memories...went there in the 50's to see the Bees play...

Just change your password? It would save all that killing stuff.

Old Grounds

It can be difficult to remember lots of passwords. I definitely struggle. Might be better to have a killing.

Old Grounds

Yes. You're right. As you were VFTB .

Old Grounds

There were amazing dumps around in the 60s and 70s and I remember feeling really smug cos we had a really good ground by comparison in those days. My favourite dump was the old Valley Parade simply because it was such a monumental dump. The old Oxford, Gillingham and Aldershot grounds were the real pits for me.

Aldershot remains virtually untouched from what I can tell.

Aldershot and Gillingham are still dumps.

I actually used to like Aldershot's ground in the old days. I used to think it had a certain charm. But now I agree, it's just a dump (although the terrace behind the goal is still a bit special in a retro kind of way). And feck that walk through the bloody park with the Ravey Davey stewards and their glow sticks - that never used to be there. I went in the front entrance this year then blagged my way into the away end. If I'd have known about that bloody park on the way out I'd have stayed in the home end (which is what I shall do next time if they're lucky enough to ever play us again) :sorted:.

Old Grounds

You would struggle to beat the Shay. Halifax Town, one end was pure mud and the smallest standing area ever.

Old Grounds

Oxford's Manor Ground was a veritable sh*t hole inhabited by some of humanities worst mistakes.

Old Grounds

I know orients ground has been redeveloped in 3 stands, but the stand we were in for the league game was ridiculous, wooden seats with the paint rotting off them and it felt like the stand would give way at any time!!

Old Grounds

Springfield Park, Wigan............................a Health & Safety officer's heaven.

OK I agree it was a sh*t hole, but it had charm.

If memories serve me right didn't they have about 9/10 stands??????????????

Spot on PLE, but none of them were complete. Apart from being complete crap. And the poxy pitch had a slope. I hated the place.

Old Grounds

April 2001, we won 3-1, but overall we have a poor record against Wigan

That was at the new ground . Motherwell Bee was devastated when i grabbed the last programme.

Old Grounds

Mansfield Town away under Noades I think we lost 3-1 – we were all standing on the side in open terracing. Absolute hole of a ground til it got done up…..

Old Grounds

Good turn out that day too! Lots of old faces and several in donkey jackets. 70's flashback.

Different day i think you mean mate, we lost 1-0 the game you refer too. First one at new stadium. The 3-1 win was at Easter i think, we were on the side not behind the goal.

Yep, that's the one. Plod wouldn't let us in to town centre! Unless that was the other game. Your memory is better than mine.

Indeed we found that pub that had only opened the night before and they gave us all the leftover food. We then went to that rugby league players bar ( Andy Gregory ? ) nearish to the ground.

Yes, remember the pub well. Like a front room and the staff had hangovers. They took loads of cash that day!
