Old Programmes

I was at Colliers Wood United 2-1 Clapton in London Senior Cup last night.:sorted:
One of our supporters had the Brentford v Blackburn Rovers programme which was our opening 1st division league game from 1935/6 season.
He paid £65 for this (it is in good condition) 2 years ago.
What would an avid Bees programme collector pay for this item now?:fishing:

He also related a story of an auction he attended where the 1901 Cup Final programme (Spurs won it as a non-league club) sold for £20,000!!

£65 is about right for that season. (35-36)

I have a good solid collection going back to 1933-34 which is my investment for the kids to go to Uni if they wanted too. Its been insured for £25k as that is approx what it'd cost to get them all back!

My Grandad died in 1997 aged 87 and had a collection going back to the 20's. I was brought up hearing stories from the past ! He was friends with Joe James. It was facinating listening to stories about the 30's. Joe use to use The Cross lances and County Arms and use to say that the 30's team loved their beer and fags.

Any idea what the going rate for a good condition 4 May 1935 commerative programme vs Sheff Utd might be?

It was the 2nd division championship celebration + George V silver wedding.

I have recently come across a box of Brentford programmes from the 70's and 80's.

Available to anyone who would like them. I am not sure of the specific games and havent time to go through them but if you want them let me know.

Why not pop into the programme shop at a home game and let them know.

How many are there? What is the condition like and how much?

Joe also used the old South Western pub at the top of Whitton Dene which alas is no more.My brother in law sometimes gave him a lift to Chiswick (I think) where he worked in a foundry. That must have been in the 70s.Joe and his wife used to live in Park Close, which was near Murray Park on the Whitton border.Coming back to programmes I bought 4 of them of us in the fifties for £15.One was the friendly under our new floodlights against an International managers X!.In their team was Stanley Matthews,Raich Carter,Jim Logie ,Alf Ramsey.George Hardwick, goalie George Swindon, former Arsenal. How much wouldd that lot cost todaay. By the way we won 3-2 with goals from Francis and Towers (who else) and a bloke called Cutler who was on trial from WBA.Oh happy days.

I have recently found an old programme I was given a few years ago from a Brentford v Chelsea game on 1st December 1945. It is in really good condition for its age, has a note of the score & scorers written inside (finished 4-4) & there is also a copy of the press cutting from the game. Am I right in thinking there was a museum where this sort of memorobilia was displayed ? If not if the club would be interested in something like this for display. If so I am happy to donate.
