Old programmes

Not sure what forum this should be in - mods would you kindly move accordingly - but i have unearthed a few old home programmes and would like to pass them on to benefit the club. Does anybody sell these on and then give the money to the club? I dont have many - about 15 at last count, but i am clearing out the loft, so there are probably more. They mainly cover the period 1999 -2006, although there is our FA Cup 1st round match against Camberley in 1998, and also the Stoke programme from Cardiff. They are all in good nick apart from this latter one which is a little dog-eared, probably because i came home and beat the cat with it. I guess that would make it 'cat-eared' then, but you get my drift.

mate i do this for a second job and il be honest with you, you wont get much for them, may i suggest that you draw up a list of the decent ones like fa cup and play of final and sell as a lot or auction them stating the money goes to BFC but nothing there in that era is rare. or ebay them. best of luck with it mate and great jsesture to give to the club mate

Why not donate them to the Brentford programme club, based near the D block entrance on Braemar Rd

Just a snippet of nostalgia..........

The last time I was round Mad Mick's house in Cranford, he showed me his father's collection of pre-war 'First Division' programmes.
There were dozens of them and I picked one out at random.
I'm not exactly sure of which season in the late thirties BUT........
The one I picked up showed that there had been 20 games played so far, and WHO was top of the league?

Yep, you've guessed it...............BRENTFORD!

Boy, do I covet that collection.......I've often thought that I might ask to borrow them (a few at a time) in order to do colour print copies.........but although he's calmed down a lot with age, I'm still not THAT brave!

Old programmes

Mark Chapman printed a book with copies of all the 1935-36 seasons programmes in it. (Apart from 1 which was p-p which I have :banghead:)

I did copy all the cartoons from every home programme that i have (nearly complete bar 2 p-p games) from the 1935-1940 seasons and put them on here under "my albums".

:backtotopic:

Nearly all Brentford stuff from 1980 onwards has little sell on value. even stuff from the 50's and 60's can be purchased via eBay quite cheaply, cheaper than dealers for common stuff, only rare friendlies or the odd p-p issue has a higher than Market value. I've given stuff away to people starting their collections to move programmes on.

Out of interest - what does a good quality, original World Cup Final 1966 go for - I understand there were lots of reprints run and that the shade of blue on the front cover identifies what is a genuine 1966 issue.

The No.6 cigarette advert inside and the rear advert too can be different. The blue front, blue tint to the England v West Germany, the grey shades in the no.6 advert and red in the rear advert tells you if it's original or a reprint. Plus the weight I understand. A good uncreased/unmarked copy could be £200. It's a tough one really.

It's worth £200. It depends if the buyer is there to buy it. They were going for up to £350/£400 a few years ago. The £10-£50 ones you quote are the reprints.

I still can't find Newport Co (away) 1st Sept, 1945 or Swansea (away) 17th Nov, 1945 to complete Season 45-6 ! :(

with the reprints there is harldy any difference with them, when i took on my new job doing these i was quoted the price mentioned! and was advised that you only get arounf the £200 mark when they go to auction, at the office there is a bout 15 original ones going for no where near £200

So therefore auction i.e Ebay, you will get £200 ?

Check out ebay and what the "original" ones sell for. £200 plus. Also, there's loads of info on the reprints and what to look for, so i don't know what you're talking about.

http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/How-to-Sp...-Programme-Reprint_W0QQugidZ10000000001965131 some info here.
