Had never heard of "Walham Green Station" (Chelsea v Swansea), google shows that that was the original name from 1880 to 1952, when it was renamed Fulham Broadway.

I think matches kicked off late due to many spectators having to work in the morning, go home for lunch then out to the match.
They would have had to rush in the winter, when matches kicked off an hour earlier.

.....Crikey, that's a bit unfair, the Bees at home to Burnley and away to QPR at the same time - although I guess that the B team would adequately cover the QPR away match......




and both Spurs and Fulham home and away at the same time - wow, that's almost like the Christmas/Boxing Day fixtures of old....

Remember being mentioned in Programmes in the 90's

Dusted off the bible (100 years of Brentford). That Burnley game on the poster was our first ever season in Division Two 33/34' Hopkins & Holliday both scored a brace in a 5-2 win in front of 18,000.

I always thought it was just the two options - 3.00pm or 3.15pm…
Some teams had permission for Friday nights (Tranmere, Walsall) when the City teams were home on Saturdays.

Waltham Green being Walham Green of course.

Sounds nicer than Fulham Fkng Broadway.
