Poor excuse for a footballer. He looked so pleased with himself. He was avery very poor. The manager should have taken him off a lot quicker than he did. I don't know what the fans were clapping at, I wouldn't let him wear the club shirt!!!

The reason dickov didn't take him off was because he was nasty, aggressive, gobby and right in our faces...a player very much in the mould of dickov himself. Shame none of our players could wind their fans up the same.

Yes, he was very effective. He got under the skin of everyone to do with Brentford, scored a goal and won a penalty. We need someone like that.

he is rubbish, if he has to cheat, mouth off and whine about everything, he is a complete waste of space, the facts are there, he dived for the penalty, he roled around for 5 minutes acting like he was hurt and when he was grading Leon's shirt and then pretended he got a smack which he rightfully deserved shame nobody obliged (acting so shameful he wouldn't even get on 1 of those boring soaps from the north) I can't believe the ref fell for his tricks as well, I remember when he played against leicester 2 season ago, he missed a shot and thought he was fouled (he wasn't) and he started crying (yes actually crying tears and everything) I am glad he isn't in our team, rather get relegated than have a worthly cheating scum bag like that in my team. He was proper winding me up I can't stand him, he doesn't appricate what his job is, obviously because he has to cheat and complain about everything, he is a disgrace to football and I would (figuratively) kill to be a professional footballer if he wants to dive and role around he should consider a career as a gymnast or swimmer.

Speaking for myself, I don't want to see football played like this. If the only way to get a result is to cheat. strike and reduce the talent required to be a professional footballer to that of a malicious spiteful actor, then we all lose.

He shouldn't be part of any decent team. The fact that he is seen by Paul Dickov as a big talent says all that needs to be said about his judgement .

haha, you won't see a more stonewall penalty this season - he got under Legge's skin, so Leon came charging in and flew over the ball wiping him out. If Leon had ignored him he could have tackled him fairly easily.
Taylor was a ****, but we fell for it.

No I don't want someone like that. He's a grade A cynical cheating ****. I don't wish any professional player ill. However, if he ever has the misfortune to get a double compound fracture of the tibia & fibia, I would have a wry little smile on my face whilst saying "that's a shame, that may have ruined his un-professional career".

spillane also went over as if he'd been shot in the 2nd half, got their man a booking if anyone else saw it and it wasnt the foul by the left back

Fair enough but I was up the other end of the pitch so I couldn't really see it that clearly, but he played on it far too much, and the ref was too weak to deal with him.

He is a complete waste of space, if he has talent why does he need to moan, complain and mouth off, his mouth saw more action than his feet, he's always been the same, I have never thought he was good and I dislike most players that don't play for Brentford but if his career was to end rather abruptly I would have very little sympathy for him because he treats being a footballer (something that every young boy aspires to be) like its just a career, he should be a role model for young Oldham fans if they all grow up like him football will be the worst game in the world.

Scott was saying he knew what Oldham's tactics would be and had warned the players, all that was needed was for someone to do him on the sly, surely their is a way if you are clever enough, maybe a game for McCracken to have started??

I was in direct view of the penalty and he just fell over Legge theatrically and feigned serious injury just to be sure, they call that clever play in Spain...I call it cheating.

From where l was sitting Oldhams play was pretty impressive,your post mirrors what fans forums used to say about us when Martin was in charge.We are seen as a milky side and yesterday proved that.

These types of threads after a defeat always smack to me of the worst kind of whining sour grapes.

He helped to win them the game.

They won the game.

Frankly I would openly condone setting up a machine gun nest on the edge of our penalty area at the moment if it helped us win a game, let alone a bit of mild gamesmanship.

Oldham did a job on us yesterday, we didn't stand and fight back and the Ref offered no protection. Saw the penalty on TV and it looked a dead cert. Yesterday stood on the corner of the Ealing Road, Legge got the ball and Tayor went over on legge's grounded foot. Some one mentioned that Spillane also went over in the second half that got their player booked. I saw the whole thing as it was in my line of sight and no where near the ball, their player just kicked out at him for no reason, the Ref saw it and gave the free kick but did not send him off, one of many strange decisions by the Ref on the day.

Taylor was a dick all day, I dont want players like that playing for Brentford. I would rather win on merit, then by being a dirty side. Of course someone clever is going to reply to this post 'oh but look at Oldhams position, then look at ours'. I think our team has it within them to win clean, and win better.

5 yellow cards their team got, and they were constantly shoving our players and getting away with it. The ref could have stamped that out early, but he chose to let ignore it. 2 goals disallowed both of which looked perfectly fine on the highlights. What can I say, other than terrible officials which let Oldhams bullying tactics prevail.

Have to say he bought the penalty from the ref. for a few seconds the ref didnt look interested until he spotting him writhing on the floor.
However, whatevr magnitude of a scumbag he is, we shouldnt have risen to it (though the ref could have sorted out all the in the box nonsense he was having with Spillane a lot earlier, if at all)

Oldham perspective on things.

Firstly, I've not seen any TV coverage yet. I also had a Wenger moment on any punch being thrown or reaction to that, so won't comment on that incident.

As for Chris Taylor the player: I thought he was magnificent yesterday. Worked his tripe out, ran at defenders, was a creative force spreading the ball wide and probably played his best game in 18 months.

He got booked for telling the referee he was having his shirt pulled at a corner ... I'm sure that was the truth of the matter, equally I don't doubt Oldham players did as much of that stuff as Brentford. No moral high ground to claim there.

The penalty? I was 90 yards away, but it looked certain to me and it seemed to me the referee pointed straight to the spot. I didn't notice any arguments from Brentford players - maybe that's a frame of mind playing the the bottom four, more likely it was a blatant penalty.

As a player Taylor is one of the more skilful at this level. He tends to take a kicking week in week out as a result. I don't think he's ever been booked for diving, and while I would agree that he has a tendancy to go down easily, I've never seen him hit the floor without some sort of contact first.

Some of the earlier posts wishing nasty injury or painful death are out of order in my view. After watching an Oldham team play some of the most gutless and insipid football in living memory last season it's an absolute joy to see Dickov sending a team out that (1) wants to win a game and (2) is prepared to mix it a little in order to achieve it and (3) entertains the paying public along the way.

Oldham probably not quite good enough for the play-offs, but I think they will entertain this season and shouldn't be taken for mugs. If they actually start to win headers defending set pieces they might actually exceed my expectations come May. Average age of the Oldham team is around 22.

You really cannot imagine how refreshing that is after a season of Dave Penney's negativity in 2009/10. If Chris Taylor got under the opposition's skin, as part of an excellent team performance, I'm afraid I'm all for it.

EDIT:

Just seen a replay of the penalty on The Football League Show. Looks to me like Taylor has failed to control the ball, your guy has stretched in for the tackle, missed the ball and clattered the side of Taylor's ankle. A penalty as far as I can see. And I think it would have hurt too.

Agree he was a dick and an aggravating one at that but the fact remains, our players either lost their bottle against him or lost their heads in Leons case and gave away the pen. Yep, Taylor made a lot of it but Leons challenge was really rash and had it been outside of the box could have quite easily resulted in a red card.

I'd just rather win. If it means toughening up and being a bit "dirty" then so be it. I'd certainly rather that than another season in the fourth division.

We didn't lose because of Taylor, would love to blame him, but it was a def pen, plus when he went down leon did raise his hand, didn't make contact though.
Oldham were the better team, let's move on and try and pick a new manager :D

At least three sitting around me expressed a wish that his leg was broken when he collapsed under Leon's tackle. I baulk at that idea, but it gives an indication of how infuriating he was.

I thought he was just a whingey, whiney and annoying git. It was just unfortunate that he was then the one who finished us off. By the time he play-acted and held his face, he was already revelling in his role as chief villain. We should have already stopped feeding his ego further with the boos long before then.

We loved it when we had players like Stephen Hunt winding up the opposition. But I appreciate talented players better who don't need to do that. But anything has to be better than what we have at the moment.

To be honest, although he made himself look stupid when he went over because Legge caught his face, i felt he had a case against Legge for that poor excuse for a tackle that got him that penalty.

The way Legge lunged in for the pen, one of his feet was knee height. I personally thought Leon should've been sent off then.

I've no real problem with Taylor after that.

We've much more important things to worry about other than Chris Taylor.

Taylor was/is a cheat no doubt about that. He is not the first and he wont be the last, we need to be able to deal with all of this and more. Unfortunately it does not help when the Ref is a **** as well. Taylo got away with it on Saturday but his time will come and he will be found out, make no mistake.

To bee fair, after the Legge shenanigans, when the crowd were very vociferously booing Taylor, Dickov actually called him over to the bench and appeared to tell him him to 'cool it' as he was in danger of getting sent off, because of rising to the bait and getting even more 'excited'.
