Ole going?

Over on the Bessotted board, it appears that Ole played for Stockport in their friendly against Wolves yesterday. This was apparently on the recommendation of BBB.

Mixed emotions - yes I know he is available on a free / costs big money but is there any position where we are not going to be down to the absolute bare minimum of cover?

Ole going?

We cannot afford his 2K+ a week wages.
pluswe have Smithy and young Mr Julian who are two excellent prospects.
On with the youth!!!!!!!!!.

It will be a shame to see such a fantastic keeper leave griffin park, but if he is really on 2k a week, then we must do it!!!

Good luck Oli, you are another casualty in the quest to save BFC.

To be honest, I'd be really happy to see Oli go. He didn't cost us anything, so it is not like we are losing money by letting him go for free.

I'm sure he is on big money as well, it would really help the club to have an extra £50k a year.

Also he is a quality keeper, no doubt, and it unfair on him not to have first team football. And there is no way I would want him to replace Smithy.

Let's just hope he makes one of his blunders when Marky Mac is bearing down later in the season

I think we've just got to accept that we're starting a new era now. Whoever's fault it may be or whatever you think of the circumstances surrounding it, the fact is that last season's team is gone or going and we've got to start from scratch. We've done it before and no doubt we'll have to do it again sometime so let's forget about last season (we didn't make it anyway) and start looking forward for once.

we can't afford a 2k a week reserve keeper, simply :(

Alan Julian will be alright as cover, he's a good prospect...

Oli was great fun and an inspirational keeper at times but it's time for him to move on. Of those who rate Alan Julian as an excellent prospect I would like to know what evidence that they base this on!

Northern Ireland U18,U19
never seen him play but is this enough evidence.
cant be to bad!!

Based on the fact that he's an U-18 international, I guess. Either that or his ability to score with raunchy Canadian teachers!

It will be sad to see Oli go, he's a gent as well as a top keeper. But whatever his wages are (unlike some, it seems, I truly have no idea), with Smith looking every bit the part, his departure may be good news for the Bees. But apart from when he's facing us, I hope he does really well, and that the fans of his new club give him as much support as we did.

Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole...
Oli, Oli

If we have £2,000 per week coming off the wage bill, does this mean that Bees United's 2002/03 funding target is now down from £1,000,000 to £900,000?

I will take that as a yes then.

I remember that the actual defecit prediction was £890K, so £100k off of that sees us looking at a tiny loss of £790k ...........................peanuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:laughsm

how the hell can a two bob team like stockport afford him if we cant.

Apparently Stockpot have a cool 1M to spend to get them back up - £400K which has gone for BBB.

Lets hope they won't be regretting all their spending in a year or two's time eh?

They decided last November that they would rather go down than pay the wages to stay up.

They cleared everyone out, picked up a few fees and gave lots of kids first team experience on low wages (sounds a familiar concept)

They got a few decent gates (Man City at home etc.), but if they dont keep those crowds for the visits of Cheltenham etc. they will be up sh*t creek if they take on a few more players on decent wages.

So do you care to enlighten us all by backing up your argument and telling us why you think Alan Julain is crap rather than banging on about other past crap players?
To be honest I have never seen him play but my mate who has enough time on his hands to attend the odd youth team match has given good reports.
Ps Ed was that ever proven about him and that Gehring bird or shall it forever remain a 'Buttigieg/Mrs Perryman' style urban legend?

Ole going?

Well, it was in the papers (Mail?). Not that that proves anything, of course, but from what I can gather, he didn't deny it when the inevitable stick flew in his direction from the rest of the squad.
