Oli Skulason?

Could go down ( given his salary relevant to our budget) as one of our worst ever signings alongside Paul Davis.

Sad to see it yesterday but he was anonymous and fair play to LR for hauling him off at half time, at least Thomas can pass the ball...

Can see him being dropped for a while..

Oli Skulason?

Why don't you just **** off back to Iceland, Oli? :mad2:

Why would he when mugs like our board and management team are willing to pay the c*nt over 2 grand a week!

That is how much he's on isn't it?

If that's his contract, they don't have much choice in the matter, much as it rankles to think of him getting that cash.

If you blame anyone for that, blame the previous management but, to be fair to them, in summer 2005 he seemed a good prospect

Oli Skulason?

It just seems mad that a player who is cleary not interested in playing for the club can sit there and take home full pay.

I know it's been said before, but in any other profession it would be easy enough to get rid of him.... I guess it's harder to prove that he doesn't actually care or isn't putting the effort in, in front of a court or whaterver.

He isn't the only one, there are a number of players on our books who need to be thrown out the door. It makes the blood boil, on top of bills etc.. getting down to all the home games and the odd away game can be a bit of a stretch....

Oli Skulason?

I must confess that after the Blackpool and Northampton games I thought I'd seen our missing link from last season. A natural born winner who would have kept Newman out fo the side and taken us up, I've since been shown up to be a bit of a sad twaat.:sorted:

Oli Skulason?

Whats the point who would want him?

It could work two ways...We could get an offer or it could be a reality check for him, a good kick up the ass what he needs, get him back playing again!

It's just a pity that this isn't going to happen. :-(

I doubt anyone would put an offer for him on those wages - he is hardly putting himself on the shop window is he?
Rather than put players on the transfer list why doesn't LR say if he has to take anyone off at half-time again for lack of effort, the said player(s) get fined a weeks wages! That may buck them up and get them to feckin try!

Oli Skulason?

I'd just be worried about him pissing off the dressing room any more and them playing even worse.

I know this shouldn't happen but if he starts handing out fines to the poor darlings then they might care even less than they seem to now. :-(

I dont think some of them could care less than they are currently showing!

You do have a point... :D

They should be made to sit down with everyone from the GPG and go through the video of the game.

Oli, what the **** was that?

"Er, er, er,...." Exactly now get out tha fuc*ing door!

Oli Skulason?

Spotted Oli out in Covent Garden on Saturday night having a few shandies with a couple of mates. Thought he was supposed to have tonsilitis? Had a red shirt and black tie on now there's commitment to the cause (I think)! Was going to ask him if he could afford to buy me a pint out of his meagre salary but I was well oiled and becoming somewhat aggresive and my girlfriend convinced me it would be a bad idea. She was probably right.

Oli Skulason?

I think we need to put him back in the team, he's still the best centre midfielder we have and put Kev back at right back.Him and Cox will be a decent partnership

Oli Skulason?

Does anybody know.......

A) Is Oli fully fit again, available for selection and not rated by Fitz

B) Has he never recovered from injury and hence why he's been pants when he has played

C) Does he think he's ended up playing for a different club from the one he signed for, wants out, and is happy to sit around as he knows that there are a couple of Managers who want him.

Whatever the answer massively disappointed in what I've seen, given that when he signed I thought he would become a legend given all the hype.

Oli Skulason?

The answer is A) but probably due to C) except the managers bit

He's was on the bench yesterday for the first time since the Doncaster game due to lack of numbers.

Oli Skulason?

He's transfer listed and so available, but until someone take him then he's stays. Simple really.

I think we have to try and motivate him to play well....it is after all in his interests as well!

A good manager should be able to get someone of Oli's ability to perform week in week out with the lure of being in the shop window!

Oli Skulason?

How is BFC going to do that?

Do you want specifics? or are you doubting the fact that our manager should be able to manage and therefore motivate his players?

If Oli doesn't want to play football then I guess there is nothing you can do...but I'm guessing that he probably has some interest in his career...so you have to use this as a motivational tool.

£2000 a week. He should be able to motivate himself. Perhaps a month on the factory floor may motivate him.

Thats the problem though, he gets that whether motivated or not and whether he plays or not.
He knows that he can keep himself injury free for 4 months by not playing but still get the money and then find some mug to pay him the same or more and blame injury and managers changes for his lack of games.

Oli Skulason?

To be honest, I think my scenario C may mean he isn't bothered whether he plays well or not for us if he know's that he's wanted by someone else.

If that is the case I'm disgusted by his attitude but I almost hope that he is just finished through injury! If not only mitigating circumstances it maybe that following such a long lay off, he just couldn't cope with the culture shock of such a different set up and style of play at lower league 1 football compared to set up at prem club.

Part of me was hoping that Fitz would declare that what happened with the previous regime was forgotten, Oli was fit and desparate to show the fans what he was capable of. Now I'm just disappointed that it appears Fitz doesn't think he can get anything out of him. I'm also worried that we offload him from payroll without fee or sell on clause and he then recaptures his form and we end up with egg on our face yet again.

To be honest £2k a week probably isn't that motivational....it doesn't seem to motivate some of the clowns in the premeirship that they are being paid the GDP of small african countries to play football!

Especially if you are being paid £2k a week regardles of whether you are playing or not!

I would have thought that Oli has visions of playing international football and also for a premiership club....I think someone needs to remind him that this is not going to happen if he is sitting on our bench due to bad performances!

Oli Skulason?

Fitz put him straight back into the starting line-up for his first game at Cheltenham and he repaid him by doing nothing for 60 minutes.

By all accounts, the attitude is the same in training.

Oli Skulason?

Yes please.

I think you need to sit down with the chap and work out what his aspirations are and use these to motivate him. Give him a fair crack at achieving them in exchange for an improved attitude towards fulfilling the needs of the team.

just tell him to f^ck off as your wasting the supporters hard earned wages.......................unlike yourself Mr Skulasson............... just tell him to go otherwise he'll get a horses head to sleep with.......... :D

Hmm. Wonder if Mr Rhodes fits this category too...

Oli Skulason?

I can tell you all that Skulason has been allowed to leave the club on a free transfer. That probably comes as a big relief to the Brentford fans as he has been a disgrace imvho at Griffin Park. As an Icelander Im appalled by his lack of motivation for a club like Brentford which many Icelanders have come to known since the Hermann days.

Cheers Dudley, looking back at your other posts, you are a true friend of the club :sorted: - Oli showed much promise but this was not to be and he has been a HUGE disappointment. The amount of money he is costing us in wages, let's hope we can get in someone who can show some passion and skill for the club - know any other Icelanders with the pride and passion of Hermann ?? :D

The main attribute of Icelandic players is pride and passion. If you dont have it like Skulason you will fail.

Oli Skulason?

If Skulason barely plays again for us this season it is likely his 'career' will be over at this level. Fails to make it at Arsenal; fails to make it in an awful Brentford team / fails to even make the team add to that a year long injury and others on top of that - I can't see clubs beating down the door to get at him.

I hope he's been stashing away some of his cash in an ISA...

(RE-ISA comment not a poor pun on his home country, just a relatively good home for one's savings)

Oli Skulason?

Can someone please clear this one up :thetruth:

Are we being unduely harsh on him for no reason or is he just a ****, plain and simple?

a) Is Skulasson just sh*te and can't get in the team

b) Is he being bombed because of the piss poor attitude he has shown (if it is that, and i'm not saying it is). We had discussions about this earlier on in the season when he would leave the field without acknowledging the fans etc so it would seem to be :suspect:

c) Is he being shipped out to save on his wages

He seemed ok to me until he got a call up to the international team. Is it that being called up to play against spain in the Euro's, then Doncaster away proved too much?

There was talk from people on here of offering him a five year contract after the Northampton away game on here

Does anyone actually know for sure? :fishing:

Oli Skulason?

I wont be surprised if he goes to a team in the championship and is a big hit.

Oli Skulason?

In The Chronny, he is quoted saying

He [Fitz] just told me I was not in his plans and didn't offer more of a reason than that. I am naturally disappointed but that's football. Maybe I am not his type of player and if that is the case then you have to respect his judgement. I think Brentford fans have seen during my roller coaster time here that I can play and hopefully I will get something sorted out during the next few weeks. If I went then it might free up some finances for the manager to rebuild.

Oli Skulason?

Ok - so he doesn't fit into SF's plans. Here is a perfect oppurtunity for JG to prove he can act in the best interests of our club and recommend to his nephew at Brizzle (or even better, the newly rich Peterborough) a 20-year old, full Icelandic international who has been rejected by the new manager and is available for a snip at just £200k (we may even be persuaded to take £150K)
