One off Kit

Congratulations to the club and the community trust on the anniversary, but I can't say I'm in favour of us changing our kit for it to be honest. This and the goal sponsorship announcements just seem a bit too tacky for the BFC we know and love IMO.

Also since when has Mark Devlin been "Chief Executive" rather than "General Manager" as the article suggests?

One off Kit

What is the difference between lee Doyle and Martin spong and which is the one that I liked rather than was scared of? I believe there was a beard on one of them if that helps

One off Kit

I think it looks great.

One off Kit

I know there's more important things to worry about but I spent an hour yesterday explaining to my kids why their Junior Bees "design a shirt" competition entries couldn't be anything other than red and white stripes for a home shirt. :)
And then I see this.

Nice gesture and all that but it's horrible and I can't believe we'll play a home league game wearing it.

One off Kit

If we beat Notts County its a great kit if we don't it's sh*t. Looks just like a mid 80s Newcastle away top I think.

Spong defo had a beard btw.

One off Kit

Replace the silver with white and it looks very much like a Fulham kit.

One off Kit

its a one off kit for a good cause, who gives a rats ass what it looks like? (so long as it isnt blue and white hoops)

One off Kit

would it maybe make sense to get the Football League approval first, then announce it??

Martyn Spong had/has the beard. :D

I really like it and I think its a great idea.

Erm, not the biggest fan of seeing the team play in grey, but it's for a good cause and a one off so I think that's fair enough. Highlights the importance of the community work to the club, and hopefully will help make the players feel as if they're part of something bigger.

One off Kit

As so many have said great idea, horrible kit. IMHO Grey/silver should never be used as a colour for any kit other than the occasional GK's shirt.

But it would go with jeans.

True the kit would go with jeans so I suggest that all players shoul wear jeans for the day and we take the goalposts down for the Notts County game and substitute them with jumpers, Uwe and MA should be made to sit on Park Benches with authentic dog turds scattered over the pitch for added realism.

Surely its an intentional choice of silver for the "Silver" anniversary though?

One off Kit

Why, is there an issue?

Probably not but the article does state "subject to FL clearence"

FWIW I think it loooks great and will probably try to buy one.

Wasn't the England grey strip at Euro 96 designed with the leisure market in mind?

Absolutely Orps realised the logic behind it just personally can't stand the whole silver thing in football kits. Silver just doesn't seem to be a 'proper' footie shirt colour.

Fair enough, apologies if that was a bit patronising. I do agree with you though it isnt a great choice in general for a kit colour. There is always a decent chance when wearing a full silver outfit you'll look a bit like a villain from Dr. Who if you ask me...

I doubt there will be an issue, but kit changes you have to have approved first, but I'm guessing they wouldn't have announced it unless they saw no reason it would be rejected.

They probably only included the 'subject to clearance from the Football League' as a precaution on the off-chance they said no.

Opportunity for everyone to look like statues.....

Anyways, for one game its not a great big deal... as someone said, if we win its a great shirt, if we lose we'll hate it. I like the shirt personally, but if anything more as a training shirt maybe...

The club are also looking to auction them off....

Have they ever passed up that opportunity before? lol

I think the kit's okay for one game, so no biggie. It's also the colour Sir Alex Ferguson rejected because he claimed his players had trouble picking each other out in the shirt, so it may give the New Roaders an exciting opportunity to moan about more misplaced passes than usual. Bring it on  ...

Wait until you see the colour for 50th anniversary.

Well done Bees and the Community Sports Trust!!

You mean where the colour has run from the black panel into the white.

Nice idea, don't really have a problem with the silver colour (and obviously it links to the jubilee), but the typography is horrible.

And why is the club crest repeated? Sure, you need it when you see the BFCCST logo in isolation, but not when it's on a shirt just underneath a slightly larger version!

One off Kit

Nice idea but it's rather dull. An opportunity for artistic licence has been lost. Shame

:mad2:

i seem to recall martin spong had one of those sort of invisible beards, but looked like a cross between steven speilberg and the professor in flash gordon (the 1980 film).

asthetically i love the kit & will buy it but have not yet got an opinion on whether i agree with us wearing it for a home league match. more to follow on this story, and others, when we come back.

One off Kit

can someone add a poll on this thread??I'd like to see people's opinions on this shirt..

I haven't a problem with celebrating BFCFCT as they've done tremendous things for the community and the club. Just look at the accolades and accreditations the Sports Trust has received over the past 25 years. One of the best in the country.

The shirt though?! Who designed it? Couldn't they have had a red and silver striped shirt instead of red and white? Surely that would be a better representation of BFC and also celebrating 25 years?

One off Kit

Or silver and white stripes with black shorts might look good.

One off Kit

Could the opposition (manager) complain to the league and them not approve it? Just for fun like? :fishing:

have to say, i agree!! red and silver would be fking cool as one-off!!

I like the idea of red and silver :thetruth:

Much appreciated.

I am so anti Brenford not wearing red and white stripes at home that I have booked a flight to Chicago for that very day just as I cant bear to be on the same continent as that atrocity. #loyal

this has all gone quiet - have the FL denied approval?! have the club decided to ignore the THREE (count 'em) supporters on this very thread who say that a kit re-design is needed, because the original-presented kit looks like it was knocked up in 5mins by someone who wasn't too bothered about the end result?

for what it's worth i ran the red-and-silver idea past the woman and she agreed that it sounded dead sexy. that's FOUR votes now :thetruth:

One off Kit

Her vote is null and void.......if she finds you sexy then her taste input isn't required !!

One off Kit

I hope Alex Ferguson and some of his players from the mid 90s aren't planning to watch the game, they wouldn't be able to see our players :(

I was under the impression that the grey euro 96 kit was 'inspired' by suits of armour trying to link in to the 'ye olde english knights of the round table' malarky.
