No competitive match for two weeks gives more time for the injured players to recover.

Before this season, we usually do well after the International break.
Da Silva is going to be a very important player for us
Two weeks to get Ollie fully fit
Emiliano is nearly ready for first team football
Rico is nearly ready for first team football
We haven’t really played well for 90 minutes for weeks and weeks yet we’re well clear of the drop zone.

Had we won the last three games and found ourselves 7 points off the play offs we would be very happy. Just need to get things going again, the new french CB must be nearly fit as well.

Radical (fairly anyway) new line up

Daniels,
Barbet - L Wing Back
Konsa - CB
Mepham - CB
Jeanvier - CB
Moses - R Wing Back
Da Silva- Midfield
McC- Midfield
Judge- Midfield
Maupay
Watkins or Canos

I think getting McCormack back is certainly radical! Given our problems are rooted in chaotic defending, that line-up looks like the chaos would extend to the midfield.

Can't see us changing our complete philosophy which has worked for 5 yeas + just to stop a run of 3 defeats.

I agree a total change of personal, system and strategy is going to help with confidence.

Smith flirted with the idea of a back three and it didnt last long.

Because we didn't have the players for it... Barbet at LWB and Egan as a wide CB. Awful.

We now have Moses and Henry (two proper wingbacks) and mobile, ball playing CBs in Mepham, Konsa and Jeanvier. Considering we are lacking in the CM department at the moment I think it might be a good option.

We have had these runs of poor results every season and we have come out of them. With a young squad ups and downs in form are the norm.

Our squad is comprised of some talented young players who, for whatever reason, are having a dip in form together with a loss of confidence.

We have players soon to return who will only improve the squad plus, for some, a couple of weeks to rest and recover.

Never expected a top 2 finish but still feel that we will come good very soon and that a finish anywhere in the top 10 is still very likely

Was out with the dog this morning walking the fields and started to think about the Bees following the recent poor run of form and some of the very negative comments that have been expressed.

Worth diddly squat but these are my musings:

We are a very small London club, smallest in the league?? Playing in front of piss poor gates. We have a wage budget which at best is probably bottom 3 and is probably exceeded by clubs in the division below. We have about 20 or so really talented young players yet are having to play teams with equally talented players and with a depth we can only dream of, just look at the forwards sitting on the Villa bench.

Despite the disparity in wages we continually frustrate the pundits by finishing in the top 10 of the Championship whereas our budget should see us fighting relegation each season.

We have DoF’s that are damned good at their jobs and are able to tap into the Smartodds statistics and can spot a bargain a mile away, think I heard on the recent live TV game that we have over the past few years generated over £50m in transfer income.

We play a style of football that at times is positively exhilarating yet, as we are all aware can be our Achilles heel. It has produced significant success for us in recent years and therefore, despite all the clever tacticians on here, I cannot see it changing anytime soon.

We have a fantastic new Stadium to look forward to, yes it may not be all that everyone first wished for, but it is ours and has to be a million times better than the old lady of GP.

Posters talked of promotion st the beginning of the season and whether this was to be the year we went for it or would January see a significant input of players. Realistically we are not ready for promotion and MB is nothing if not a pragmatist when looking at the odds!! Yes there are always exceptional. Leicester winning the Prem was, however for us it will need a considerable amount of good fortune to go our way, something that no gambler will take into consideration.

However season on season our squad improves and it is perfectly realistic to anticipate promotion, or at least the play offs over the next few seasons

All in all in my mind everything is rosy on the playing front, despite various posters I believe our team is perfectly capable of maintaining its recent record of top 10 finishes, Thomas Frank is an ideal person to have the Head Coach role as he has served his apprenticeship in the Championship here and held a possibly more demanding role st Brondby and generally I can only see a positive future for us.

Sorry for boring everyone to death with these musings however there has been a lot of negativity in recent weeks and I felt like addressing the balance.

Well said, for a man who used to be very vocal and dare I say over critical at times in the ground, that’s a very accurate and positive summary. :sorted:

Good to hear up and comers (Racic, Oksanen, Hardy) getting to play with the big boys yesterday. Only lost 1-2 to a strong WHU 1st team squad, and Emiliano is on the way back, scoring a cracker.

We will have had two weeks to lick our wounds, reset, plan and recuperate. There has been time to get most of the squad onto the training ground and regroup. Players are now beginning to come back from injury and the return of Henry and Marcondes will provide pace, guile and enthusiasm plus additional goal threat. Da Silva too is on the verge of making a massive impression and their introduction will re-energise the team. Watkins will also have had two weeks of rest and will come back refreshed.

The death of Robert Rowan, tragedy that it is, will act as a rallying cry and inspiration to the squad who will be determined to honour his memory.

The season starts now!

We at least score Goals and if you look back at few defeats it was only the wood work that stopped us get points add to that add couple of inches Mepham was away from clearing the corner for Konsa OG and the Middlesbrough first goal was only just onside

Absolutely. TF took over a Dean Smith team on the slide with a high number of natural midfield and forward options injured. Only lost by the odd goal against most of the high flyers in this league. I’m pretty sure that with these players back plus Henry at the back we’ll see a change in fortunes.

Three key players hopefully back

I'd say four who should be in the first team (Kamo/Watkins/Benrahma/Rico). :)
Won't expect miracles immediately but should help a lot over the xmas period and beyond.

I did given the way we ended last season,, got new players in early, and kept most of our important players.

Still winning at Wembley will be good enough.
