Orient Match Reports

2-1 and cruising.

Referee was an utter disgrace.

We should of had a pen for handball, I guarantee until he noticed it was Bidwell, he wasn't going to book him. Never a pen. It was a corner to us he didn't give. From the resulting goal kick 2-2.

Utter garbage.

Orient Match Reports

2-1 up, Orient on the backfoot and we probably would have scored a few more. The ref, having harshly booked Bidwell and letting worse challenges go, pulls out another non existent yellow.
Never a penalty so kudos to Simon for pulling off as good a save you could wish to see. The ref misses a more blatant one for us. How Russell Slade could complain is baffling?! Orient got all the big calls

Not to mention the foul on Douglas in the build-up that wasn't given and also the one on Diagouraga shortly before. Also the ghost throw-in on the New Road side...

Bidwell's "tactical foul" was probably not worth a yellow card either, given that we had plenty of men back and it was well inside their half. Still, don't think he should really have taken the risk having already been booked and it damaged our chances of taking all 3 points.

Ref cost us the game, simple as that. Cheated. Gutted for Bidwell missing the Chelsea game for that :(

Orient Match Reports

Still think we should and could have defended better when we went to ten men... Why midfield were sitting so deep is beyond me.. I believe we are having our usual winter dip in form and the young players are beginning to struggle mentally with expectations and having to get up for games just a few days apart...

Orient Match Reports

Appalling referee certainly cost us 2 points I seldom if ever agree to the cheat chant but he really deserved it

Orient Match Reports

Mark Devlin not impressed either:

"‏@markdevlin7

Inside to the office. Can't bear to watch anymore of that refereeing performance."

Orient Match Reports

Just spoke to my brother who is on his way home, saying the Ref completely mugged us off today!

Orient Match Reports

Shocking referee performance, acted like a kid who wanted everyone to notice he was there. Bidwell's second yellow was absolutely never a yellow, I fail to see how/why he thought that merited a sending off.

Definitely a case of the referee costing us two points. God knows how valuable they may be come the end of the season...

I've never seen a ref so insistent on players taking one step back to take a throw in so much either... It was highly frustrating on the whole.

I thought we might be able to hold on, 'win despite the ref' sort of thing, but alas we couldn't quite do it.

It's difficult to talk about anything other than the referee, but when looking back on this game in 6 months or so I believe that's all that we will remember about it. I try to be fair to referees, but that was unacceptable...

Orient Match Reports

Bumped into Jake as he was leaving the ground in tears. Looked like nothing could console him. Not a great performance from us tonight, but shocking performance from the NR Lino and the Ref. Maybe teams have started to figure us out - get up and in our faces, don't give us time or space to play the ball and we start to struggle.

Orient Match Reports

Not quite sure who was worse us or the ref. I thought from the the first 30 seconds when Forshaw missed that chance we struggled against an average team. We dug our own grave with the sending off I could see Uwe was furious with Bidwell. Get the Chelsea game out of the way and get back to winning league games. We are still third though.

I have to say that was one of the worst refereeing performances I have seen at Brentford and there have been plenty as we know.

Orient Match Reports

Tonight reminded me of a bog standard league1 1 game with two teams playing 4-4-2 and with little guile.:( Neither side looked like a playoff contender. We were very flat in the midfield and had no pace or penetration along the flanks. The fullbacks failed to compensate and as a result we created little in the way of openings.Nice to see Hayes score but he didn't push up far enough to give Clayton any support. We were lucky to turn around in the lead and Orient always looked dangerous pushing forward. We were a bit better at the start of the second half but any prospect of improvement was blown away when Jake was sent off. It disrupted our personnel and style and in the end a draw was a fair outcome.
What this showed me is that if we are to go 4-4-2 we need a genuine second striker to support Clayton and IMO Hayes doesn't do that. We also need to play 4-4-2 with genuine pace out wide or we offer little. I'd like to see us revert to 4-5-1 and start to control possession and play the style that did so well for us or IMO we will fall away.
The ref was amazing. However, if pulling a shirt is a bookable offence then Jake was daft to do what he did. Presumably he misses Chelsea.
MOM was Clayton IMO. Too much skill left on the bench tonight.

Orient Match Reports

Hard to believe the refereeing I've just witnessed. Utterly useless ****, I hope Uwe and co make an official complaint as I'm not sure I've ever seen such a biased performance from a ref.

Orient Match Reports

Desperate performance from the Ref. Can't remember seeing many others that inconsistent. I know we are all biased but he was beyond belief.

Am a big fan of Bidwell's but his head hasn't been right over the past two games, think he needs some time out to take the pressure off a bit.

Great spirit and fight from everyone but both games have seen us letting ourselves get ragged and forget our football.

Let's get some luck at Yeovil please footballing Gods. Screw Sunday.

Whilst the ref was a ****ing disgrace tonight. I have noticed in recent games that we are far too honest for our own good, and try to stay on our feet too often, where as others just go down looking for the booking/free kick/penalty option. Whilst I don't like it, it's time we started looking after ourselves more.

Orient Match Reports

On the plus side Paul Hayes looked decent, really hope Donaldsons injury isn't bad, he was struggling after their keeper took him out

Orient Match Reports

We didn't exactly play our best football until we got sent down to 10 men, but we were miles better then Orient.
Don't need to say anything about the ref as all previous posts echo my thoughts.

Onwards and upwards!!

Sounds like the Ref was very consistent, unfortunately.

Orient Match Reports

Gutted for Jake Bidwell. He doesn't deserve that and probably had his whole family lined up to watch. We will miss his pace on Sunday. Ref was crap admittedly but if Uwe genuinely does think League is more important than Cup leaving our match winner on the bench isn't smart. I will be glad when Sunday is over in a way and can regroup. Still looking forward to it though.

We haven't become a bad team overnight. Believe.

Donaldson went in with his foot up. Keeper did nothing wrong.

On the sending off, the second yellow was silly - but I really don't understand why the first one warranted a card. There were certainly other fouls which were as bad or worse.

Did anyone get a decent view of our goals? I wouldn't have been surprised if at least one of them had got chalked off - their keeper obviously thought he'd been fouled for the second. So it wasn't all one way.

Talk of bias is ridiculous - why would he be biased? He was just incompetent. That's bad enough.

Orient Match Reports

As others have said the ref had to be seen to be believed, completely one sided decisions second half. Thought we still looked in control for large parts with 10 men but tired towards the end. Not jumping on the bandwagon but Hayes was poor for me tonight, no support for Clayton, couldn't read some of the passes that others were making and is so slow. Hope we bring in a striker soon to take the pressure of Donaldson.

Rowlands goal was a screamer unfortunately but good to see he is well passed it, tired himself out with his pathetic sprint down towards the orient fans. Nice of their keeper to assault one of our ball boys as well, didnt even look like he apologised at the end just had another go at him for holding onto the ball.

Orient Match Reports

Most has been said so won't bother repeating what others have correctly written about the ref.
We looked leggy but you felt it could have been so different if Adam had notched after strolling through their defence within 30 seconds.
After that I feel we relied on Clayton far too much to provide any sort of goal threat. They had a number 22 who was like a quarter back finding space and selecting long and short passes and dictating the play. Something familiar about the little s**t but this time he was the class act on the park and then scored with a free kick that trumped anything Sammy has managed at GP.
We didn't do enough to really deserve 3 points but the way we dropped 2 hurts. Had we played like that against the likes of B'Muff or Tranmere suspect we'd have conceded a few more.
No champagne moment, no MOM in a Bees shirt, Charlie isn't good enough at this level nor Chorley nor the officials.
Used to like Slade but behaved liked a fat c**k and hope he gets the sack sometime soon.
Lots more twists and turns before May, let's forget the league for a week and see if we can be in the hat for the 5th round.

Orient Match Reports

11 versus 10 is always hard enough. But 12 versus 10 is almost impossible!

Ref cos us the game and ruined the match completely. Wasn't our best performance by a long shot but were comfortable at 2-1 against an average Orient side.

Almost the perfect start, first minute Forshaw intercepts a stray pass and bursts through on goal but with so much time to think he tamely passes it wide. Up starts Rowlands minutes later to thunder in a long range free kick, fair play it was unbelievable strike but he didn't half milk it and celebrate like he'd won the lottery. We slowly began to press and use the width and after a but if a scramble in the box Hayes flicks the ball in from close range. The whole atmosphere was quite flat with the cold weather not helping anyone. After a header was blocked on the line, Donaldson puts the rebound in followed by mass protests from Orient that their keeper was fouled.

Second half we're comfortable and Clayton almost puts us 3-1 up with a volley that is pushed past the post. Then the critical moment, Bidwell tugs back their player, cynically yes but after giving the foul and seemingly nothing else he realises Bidwell is on a yellow and brandishes a red. With so long left it was always going to be a struggle but the players stuck to their tasks brilliantly. Ball into their striker, he takes a touch past Harlee but the ball is going out for a goal kick, Harley's momentum takes him into the players who theatrically falls over, ref gives nothing as the ball runs out of play then after seconds of doing nothing then gives the penalty! Ridiculous! Thankfully Moore flings himself to his right to stop the powerfully struck shot. We battle and scrap and just as it looks like we're going to hold on for the win, Cook arrows a left foot strike into the bottom corner with perhaps Moore a little slow to react but may have been unsighted.

Game over. Can't blame the players who put in a sterling effort with 10 men but sometimes you get games where the ref ruins it for everyone. Completely incompetent and inept type, had a smugness about it that I hated too.

Such a shame for poor Jake Bidwell who now misses what would have been the biggest game of his life against Chelsea. I don't fancy the idea of Scott Barron up against Mata and Hazard so I'm sure Craig will play left back with Kearnan coming in at centre back.

Feel a bit cheated tbh.

Bidwell cost us this game - Kicking the ball away for his first booking was utter stupidity on his behalf and any professional footballer (Or even park player) will know you get booked when you pull a man down no matter where you are on the field of play - When you have already been booked for a petulant kick of the ball when there was absoultly no need to do it you do not pull a player down.

And once down to 10 men we had no plan B coming from the sidelines

We are a better team than we were tonight but last Saturday and now tonight will have Mr Rosler thinking hard.

We were looking like the only team to win when it was 11 v 11. The way the game was going it felt like we would get the third eventually and then it would be comfortable.

The sending off changed that. We did go....possibly too negative but we did have something to hold on to. We didn't look like conceding much until it eventually did hit the back of the net (I like the fact that very few of the posts complaining of the ref even MENTION the penalty).

Forrester seems to come off a lot when starting recently, so maybe he does need a game to recoup his fitness a little. As mentioned above we should have had enough to beat Orient without him, had it stayed 11 v 11... Saunders deliveries tonight really did show his qualities though, both our goals came from his corners. His overall game you can debate but his deliveries can be top drawer.

Orient Match Reports

We are a tad out of form atm and I thought we looked comfortable until the sending off. Bidwell was a silly boy and pays the ultimate price, feel sorry for him and we will miss him Sunday. Ref was pony but something was missing from us.

It really didn't workout for us tonight, The Don and Forshaw etc ran themselves into the ground, Bidwell is obviously out and we didn't get the best result meaning our lack of form continues. Roll on Sundayn let's enjoy it hope for the best, no reason why we can't win but we need to get our league performances and results up to scratch ASAP. Very poor crowd from both teams tonight, sad but understandable.

Orient Match Reports

I don't know what to say ..that was the worst Ref performance I have ever seen...

Orient Match Reports

Fuming,i havnt been this pissed off after a game in a long long time.Ive been to virtually every game this season and have been nothing but behind what is going on,but that is the worst performance from this team.the Tranmere defeat i could stomach but that tonight was awful.Despite a disgraceful referee performance, that was never a booking on Bidwell, our performance for most of the game simply was a shambles.**** the chelsea game,no excuses.the only player truly worth a mention was Simon Moore,4 outstanding saves,a penalty save,he won us a draw.
The attendace also was patheticly embarrassing
Rowlands spent the night laughing at us,i remember when he returned with rangers,he sh*t himself.Anyone want to defend him now after his reaction to both goals?
atmosphere non existent,in fairness some in ealing road gave it a go in the first half but even orient were taking the piss out of it.

a very low night for me tonight

****ed right off

Orient Match Reports

You have to question the honesty of that referee given his overall performance.

Orient Match Reports

Appalling officiating from both the ref and lino on the Braemar Road side.
I am not one of the Rowlands haters but he did himself no favours today at all - arrogant twunt.
Two yellows for Bidwell yet time and again their fouls never got a "telling off" let alone a card.
Game started with the howler of a miss from Forshaw and my thoughts were - it's going to be one of them evenings - and it was
Credit where it's due - it as a fantastic free kick by Rowlands, wish we had someone who could do that!
Good poaching goals from our front two, Donaldson who seems to bare the brunt of the foul and abusive language by old man "Steve" in the Paddock was soon on his feet clapping him when he scored.
Hodson had a very good game today and Dean and Craig dealt with most of the attacks in the main. Bidwell wasn't having a good game again and maybe this will give him a boot up the chufter
Douglas was a bit lacklustre with the ball as was Adeyemi - Saunders was a threat as was Forshaw.
Donaldson worked hard in the main and Hayes had one of his better games but I really wish he would learn that he can actually jump for the ball!!!
Good penalty save by Moore and not much he could do for both their goals.
Barron, Diagouraga and Logan played well when they came on
Feel deflated after dropping points v Shrews, Bournemouth, Tranmere and Orient and feel our "winning" mentality has slid a little
If any Chelsea scouts were there tonight, they would have thought there was nothing to concern them on Sunday
However, as ever Up the Bees

Orient Match Reports

On the plus side Paul Hayes looked decent, really hope Donaldsons injury isn't bad, he was struggling after their keeper took him out

hayes....really ??? apart from his goal (orient defending appaling) i dont think he touched it more than 5 times.....he's not the answer and its worrying :(

awful reffing and pretty awful performance....orient were rubbish and there for the taking.....the ref obviously had money on the mighty o's tonight....there was no disguising it ;)

lets get this cup run over and fast before our league priorities are scuppered for good.....not a great month for performances :(

amd rosler....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LEAVE SOMEONE UP FOR AN OPPOSITION CORNER.....ive had enough of this crap failing tactic :(

bad night at the office :( hopefully sunday might be different :)

Orient Match Reports

How did Rowlands not get a yellow for his scrape down the shin tackle? I dunno. One of those nights.

Froze my tits off second half.

Roll on Sunday

Orient Match Reports

I'm glad Bidwell was reportedly seen crying.

His stupidity ultimately cost us two points.

Hopefully he'll learn from tonight and by missing Sunday.

Orient Match Reports

Unbelievably crap performance by the ref. The sending off of Bidwell was just bizarre.

Forshaw should have scored within the first minute.
Rowlands scored a blinding free-kick.
We then played averagely but took control of the game. Hayes scored, I think, twice and we looked in complete control. The ref then decided to inexplicably send Bidwell off for a minor foul (2 yellows) and then the ref did what he could to get Orient back into the game.
Orient keeper then manhandles one of the ballboys (he tried apologising at the final whistle but the ballboy remained suitably fecked off) and then the ref missed the most blatant handball I have seen for many years to deny us a penalty. He then awards Orient a penalty, which I thought was warranted, but Moore saves it.
The ref then incenses the crowd by giving a series of bizarre decisions against us when their player scythed Clayton down but sees no card. Another couple of fouls that should have resulted in cards against orient. And then the most blatant corner to us that I've ever seen, yet gives a goal-kick. Orient then score and tbh, I should have put a bet online for the draw.
Totally in despair over what was such a poor refereeing performance and he cost us 3 points. What we should be saying is how we beat Orient without really getting out of 1st or 2nd gear. Don't blame the players at all. We were cruising and didn't need to play out of our skins, but the ref ruined it for us. Not very fecking happy at all.

Moore - 7 - a couple of good saves and the penalty save.
Hodson - 7 - very solid and able
Bidwell - 6 - wasn't playing badly, but needless first yellow card
Harlee - 7 - usual Harlee performance
Craig - 6 - occasional shaky moment but at times did very well
Forshaw - 7 - classy act wasted out wide imo
Douglas - 7 - for me, the must-have in our team. So often picks the right pass to keep us in possession
Adeymi - 6 - was anonymous or tearing around getting his foot in
Saunders - 7 - looked a threat at times, and most likely to create something from wide positions, but played out on the left
Clayton - 7 - can never fault his efforts but never seems to ably backed up with another forward
Hayes - 6 - what can I say? I think he scored twice, so fair play to him, but his effectiveness elsewhere, at times was so unbelievably lame. He seems to refuse to jump and challenge a defender, instead leaning or spinning off them almost every time. It NEVER flaming works! And if Clayton wins a flick on, Hayes will never latch onto it.....ok, he did once but his lack of pace caused him to panic and he shanked his shot completely.

Subs were Dave - 6, Barron - 5 and Logan - 6

a player doesnt get booked for shirt pulling when 15 or so yards in the oppositions half unless its persistant.
kicking the ball away, yes, stupid booking.Rowlands foul in the first half, jumping up and studding one of us,cant remember who,in the gut, nowhere near the ball, doesnt get booked, bundles another ober in the 2nd half,no booking, wheres the consitsancy

Orient Match Reports

So the ref sends Bidwell off but gives Rowlands (I think?) a telling off for trying to stamp a hole through Forshaw's body?

No idea why we persist with a 4-4-2. The last 5/10 minutes we just kept hoofing the ball, passing poorly and either Donaldson decided not to challenge for aerial challenges or Moore would decide to target Forshaw of all people? I thought we went too defensive in the end and it brought a lot of pressure onto us, no idea why Forrester didn't come on.

I don't want to be too critical because we've been fantastic this season and the boys have got us a cup tie against Chelsea, but we lacked fluidity and composure against Tranmere and we lacked it again tonight, last 10 minutes we seemed to lack any drive to win the ball and keep it, 10 men or not. Just seems like the Cup tie has caught their attention a little too much. As much as I'm looking forward to it, I can't wait until it's over.

Orient Match Reports

Ref was poor but we have to look at ourselves & the last two matches has shown that we are not good enough & we will end up mid table again if we are not careful. I know we are third at the moment but we look a spent force & i can only see a downward trend

Orient Match Reports

You have to question the honesty of that referee given his overall performance.

I am convinced that the ref was not going to take any action until he realised it was Bidwell. It seemed to dawn on him that he'd booked him already so he went for his card.

Orient Match Reports

Clayton was out of gas by 70 minutes.

There is only so much hoof ball into the channels he can run for.

Now I think about it, first half we were just hoofing it. Im Still yet to see this passing football you lot go on about!

Agree 100%. He didn't seem to react until he noticed it was Jake.

Orient Match Reports

Oustanding free kick from thingy.
Bizarre refereeing throughout and a no-show lino.
Can't wait to get Sunday out of the way and to get back to the real deal.

Orient Match Reports

I'm glad Bidwell was reportedly seen crying.

His stupidity ultimately cost us two points.

Hopefully he'll learn from tonight and by missing Sunday.

That's a bit harsh, maybe he could have not made the tackle that got him sent off, but 9 our of 10 refs wouldn't have produced a card for it, especially considering he was already on one.

Bidwell has been a strong, reliable performer for us for over a year now, and the Chelsea game is something he deserves for the effort he's put into a club he's been merely on loan to. I feel for him tonight.
